  • Stay a while, and listen! I tell the tale of our most recent trip to Camp Mack to fish Lake Kissimmee and Lake Hatchineha for Crappie. I also talk about how Crappie can be one of the most mysterious fish to target, because let's face it: Crappie fishing ain't always easy.

Really enjoyed your comments on this video. You know, when your dad could see you were getting discouraged out there and couldn't connect with any fish. It reminded me of my father seeing the same thing happen with me years ago. Anyone who has fished a lot, no matter how talented they are, runs into the same situations occasionally. I am 71 years old now and i have seen it many times, It doesn't take much for the fish to change their habits. That's what makes the hunt so enjoyable. That's why it's called fishing and not catching. Lol. I just enjoy being out there, and when I find them, thats just the icing on the cake.

You nailed it man! If it wasn’t for the chase it never would be as rewarding. I agree, just being out on the water makes it a good day, especially when you’re not working 😂

Brent my brother and I are coming down there if the Lord say the same end of January. For crappie and shellcrackers should we just go to Kissimmee or go all the way down to Okeechobee at that time of the year. I truly enjoy your videos please don't stop you making me think about moving to Florida when I retire.

    Thanks for the truth.
It's great to hear the reality of stating the obvious for the unknowing new fishermen/women.
It's all great on many channels, but you got the real deal!
    Cheers Mac

Brent, believe me, I understand. My dream has been for a crappie trip like never before. After 39 yrs. In charge of a fab shop, I thought I’d finally get to catch the crappie I never could. Been to several “good” lakes. Hardly ever works out. Lake O is my best yet. My wife and I got to do that Jan/Feb of this last year. Enjoyed immensely. Looking forward to this coming season. Anyway, thanks for the videos…

Lake O is awesome, especially when season gets good. Glad you and your wife got on em last year! Such a fun time filling up the cooler with slabs. Tight lines out there!

So how did you like camp Mac? we usually fish out of Highland in Deland (St.Johns river) but there booked up.....looking for a replacement

Honestly, it’s just okay. I decided that this last visit would probably be the last time we stay there. They nickel and dime you for literally everything. Prices are too high as well, but I guess that’s to be expected being a Guy Harvey resort. My dad and I always used to stay at Grape Hammock (a little further south on the lake), and love it there. More affordable, less busy, and easy access to some great fishing. I will say, even Grape Hammock is pretty booked up during speck season, but if you call periodically you can usually grab a cancellation. If you want full amenities and a sense of civilization though, Camp Mack might be the better option for you. Whatever you do, don’t expect ANY cell signal out there - it’s non-existent.

Terrific thanks for the info, I will have to look up the Grape hammock too. We willl be on the north shore of Okechobee also, but really like the smaller water for speck fishing.

Specks on Lake Kissimmee usually don’t really turn on until almost the end of December. Then you can catch them in 4 to 6 ft of water, up in the grass and very thick pads, using expandable canepole type 10’ poles, 4-6 lb test line, small gold hook, BB split shot, and small slip cork, Fishing about 18” deep using minnows or Bobby garland jigs. I do have a spinning reel/12 ft rod I also use. You do have to move around the pads a lot, but you’ll find them if you look. We start about that time of the year, and fish through the second or third week of March. Usually limit out every time, fishing about 3-4 hrs each morning. If you’re interested, message me back, and I’ll be glad to take you out, and I won’t charge ya, lol. I live in Melbourne, and fish the lake religiously, inhaling flies from end of December-March each year. Would like to tell you something about where you’re fishing according to video.

You make great videos! I’ve got a gator tail too very similar to yours and and sorry to hear about that. The Briggs is prone to so many issues but it’s a necessary evil. Hope it gets fixed quick and from warranty

Never give up Brent…..thats why they call it fishing and not catching….there will be days that you zero out and there will be days that you load your boat up….I have experienced both. I just purchased a new 2072 grizzly 4 weeks ago….went to take it out in lake tarpon….I slipped and broke my ankle…still zero hrs on the motor but at least it got wet.👍😂 stay with it ole boy. Once I am healed up I will be hitting the lakes in Florida….i’m in the clearwater florida area. Enjoyed the video. Have a great weekend. Get out and go fishing! 👍🇺🇸🙏

Man! I’m sorry to hear about your ankle! Glad you’re okay, though. Congrats on the new 2072! That’s gonna be a comfortable boat to fish off of for sure! Them specks won’t get me down for long, season is just getting started! Tight lines out there.

Kiss this year for last 2 mo with weather and temp of water bad. Not looking good for next week or so either. Yes it's called fishing and stick with it. Water temp just not warming up also.
