So Captain Gabrielle, in order to maintain the SAME R.O.D as that of a lighter aircraft, the heavier aircraft must descend earlier ( in terms of time)or at a much further distance ( for the same elevation), correct?
So we have 2 aircrafts at the same point then they start to descend. In conclusion they reach the same point but heavier one reach the destination early due to its speed induced by its mass.As far as I understand when we start the descend with heavier aircraft earlier than lighter one,we get the same results concerning to the time.
You reach the destination early but you’ll be something like 1000-3000ft (not on ground) overhead it. That’s the message of this video. In order to LAND at the same airport the heavier aircraft needs to descent earlier because it has more energy to lose. Remember, a heavier aircraft has more potential energy than a lighter aircraft when they’re both at same altitude.
Please dont stop making these you have the most educational aviation channel with the most essential information thankyou captain😊
It's a pleasure to read your comment! Many thanks
@PILOTCLIMB I have a question, on the descent is the thrust retarded to idle along with speed brakes in flight detent?
I have my first job interview on wednesday, thanks for the help !
I wish you the best! You are very welcome!
Thank you, I got the job ! they asked me what coffin corner was and your video helped me a lot !!@@PILOTCLIMB
All your contents are super helpful Captain
Keep going ✅
Many thanks for the support!
Wonderful, would like to see more.
Many thanks for watching! Soon more!

Yes the descend must start earlier in order to descend with the same descend speed
TLDR gravity pulls the heavier aircraft forward harder, so at the same angle it will go faster.
Thanks for watching!
Does the rate of descent also affected by the weight?
Hi, the weight affects the rate of descent
The heavier the aircraft the faster it will descend, However weight will not affect the angle of descent.
what about the rate of descend of both aircraft's ?
The rates of descent changes depends on the weights and Ground speed of each Aircraft. There is no standard value. Thanks for watching
