I think THIS may be the most depressing show on US television. I think MTV does an okay job of showing the really, really bad sides of having children so young, but the overall fame of the girls "glamorizes" their situations to many, and (anecdotally, of course) I've heard of girls who DID try to get pregnant young so they could get on this show. Meanwhile, children are being born to children. Very sad.
Nadia Mohamed Yeah, you're totally right. I agree completely. And the "tough realities" aren't really tough at all, because many of the girls (especially on Teen Mom) have income in relation to the show.
Nadia Mohamed You're soooo right. It's really just depressing, because the people who suffer are the children born to these girls. I have an 18 month old daughter, and I honestly just cannot FATHOM a 16 year old trying to raise her. I can barely imagine letting one babysit her! I know there are mature girls who work hard and raise great kids despite having them super young, but they are very special, and they are the exception, NOT the rule.
+Mekrab J Whenever I eat Taco Bell or other bad food, and it makes me want to take a really big dump, the Crap-dashians are what I think of. Good post.
"its awkward buying condoms" hmm wonder how awkward it was to start carrying around diapers and having hands that smell like shit from changing said diapers.
+Erin Donovan If they taught sex education in school they wouldn't need it. In some schoosl they are not even allowed to talk about condoms, what they are, how to use it. It's ridiculous.
+Melissa Lewis My sex ed was a one or two-week subsection of "Health" class that consisted of anatomy and STDs only. With "but the only way to be safe is to wait until you're married."
Jaclyn Lizzi At least you got something. We had something sort of like that, but other schools don't even bring it up at all. I always wondered why people believe that "The Magical Wedding Ring" will suddenly bestow to couple with sexual education. Why when married are you suddenly safe from pregnancy or various conditions that happen in or around sexual organs? This is like those poor girls who are never told about menstruation and when they get their period, they believe they are hurt or dying.
+Melissa Lewis If more people had the sense to wait for "The Magical Wedding Ring" (and it's real significance), as you so naively put it, and weren't out F#$%ing everyone else at random, there wouldn't be such a need for education on how-to-avoid-sexually-transmitted-diseases-and-not-get-yourself-or-your-partner-pregnant-because-you'll-hook-up-with-anyone-anytime-anywhere-because-you-must-have-sex-right-now. If you're in a committed relationship with another person who has also waited, you have virtually no cause for concern regarding disease. No, you're not "safe" from pregnancy when you're married (pregnancy can still be controlled via many methods), but your probable a damn site better prepared for it then. Marriage, and all that it is a testament to, is treated like a four-letter word and dumped on by too many people world wide. People in general exercise no self control, that's why sex education is so necessary now.
Education is always more powerful than remaining ignorant. Just because waiting for marriage is seen as best ( or at least until you are an adult in your country) doesn't mean that life is better suited for children...and there are sexual organ issues you can get without having sex. People never have self control over there sex drive. That's always been the way and always will be.
In high school my best friend had a pretty bad pregnancy scare, I asked her why she hadn't purchased the morning after pill after having unprotected sex and she said "Uh because they're really expensive, like $50." I'm no expert on the matter but I'm fairly certain raising a child is far more expensive than a $50 pill. Thank GOD turned out she wasn't actually pregnant.
Yeah, the morning after pill is ridiculously expensive, but raising a child to the age of 18 is a hell of a lot more XD Why the fuck do people not use condoms?! STDs are a thing too. Unless it is 100% certain the person is infertile and is STD free, why risk it just because you feel a bit more enjoyment from not having a synthetic layer between you? Because I know what feels better, not having to push a kid out of your vagina at age 14-16 when your body is not even fully developed.
+Alyssa Schiffman True, but sometimes it's just unaffordable to do that when you're 16 if you don't want your parents to find out. My friend had a pregnancy scare when she was 15 and "practicing" having sex with her boyfriend ("oh, it doesn't count, he didn't come inside me" ... "what do you mean I could be pregnant? What's pre-cum? Are you joking???") and even if we'd both clubbed our money together we wouldn't have been able to get her a £30 pill from the pharmacy. Luckily you can also get them free at your doctor's here.
that is the worst thing on tv, I watch it because it's like watching a car crash. I mean people addicted to eating poop and sniffing gasoline all day 😣😣😣😣
kyler Scarlett that's not the problem here, the problem here is that he has no problem condoms (like breakage) but said it's too awkward having sex with condoms.
+Reaper Antares if its because of my profile picture, I was 14 when I took it, I'm just way too lazy to change it. but even then, screw you. I can have as much sex as I want
It's only awkward to buy condoms because someone made you feel that way. I'm 28 and have been buying them since 17. I am proud to be safe and also getting some. I'm from around New Orleans and they teach abscetaince instead of sex ed. So, a lot of my friends had kids at an early age because they didn't know jack shit. People need to stop making sex awkward and something to be ashamed of.
Adrienne Gurge Even before I was a Christian, I had a problem with people having sex before marriage, or even engagement I never really told them, just never liked it.
- JAVA - I buy them. Also got a ton of free ones at DragCon. My mom thinks the guy should have them or just don't do it. That I shouldn't have to worry.
I always feel like rich Americans spend their time thinking "how can I fuck up my country's reputation even more than it already is?" Then shit like 16 and pregnant is born.
+Slap a Fish yeah. I watched it. The youngest for 16 and pregnant was 15 I believe and up to 18/19 I think as long as they were in high school they were on the show. It should've been pregnant in high school.
IF YOU'RE EMBARRASSED TO BUY CONDOMS, YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE SEX. IF YOU'RE EMBARRASSED TO TALK TO YOUR SIGNIFICANT OTHER ABOUT SEX, YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE SEX. IF YOU DON'T WANT SEX BUT YOUR SIGNIFICANT OTHER DOES, YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE SEX. IF YOU WANT SEX BUT YOUR SIGNIFICANT OTHER DOESN'T, YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE SEX. IF YOU FEEL LIKE THERE ARE MORE CONSEQUENCES TO HAVING SEX THAN NOT, YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE SEX. My rant is done, thank you.
Okay, "it's awkward buying condoms" is bullshit. Store clerks don't give a shit what you buy or what you do with them. Maybe you'll get the occasional raised eyebrow, but besides that, they literally don't care, won't bother to remember you or what you bought that day, and just want to go home as soon as their shift's over.
actually from my experience? this is the typical life of a too young mother. and what they did here is a driving force for good, showing the reality of what having a child before youre really ready is
Nathaniel Sousa I haven't seen much of the show, but I'm talking about the girls like Amber and Jenelle who are unstable people in general. I have two friends who had children as teens, one at fourteen and one at eighteen. Their lives are probably similar to some of the girls on the show, but they are normal in every other regard. They were just idiots who got themselves knocked up. Amber and Jenelle, however, would have mental problems whether or not that had children so young. MTV shouldn't be profiting off their troubled lives. It's terrible.
***** Yes, Amber's story is compelling, but you have to remember that's because MTV took advantage of her unstable situation. It's like watching a train wreck. You know it's awful, but you can't look away.
***** She was diagnosed with Bipolar, so not only is MTV exploiting her teen pregnancy, but also the drama caused by her illness. You don't always have to take something that's wrong in the world (teen pregnancy) and exploit it. There are tasteful ways to expose things.
+Addy C: They aren't really exploiting in a bad way, though. Sure they get some money off of it, but so do most documentaries. Keep in mind these girls, their boyfriends, and their parents all agreed to be on the show and would not be forced to do anything related to this network had they said no. I think you're making a pretty big deal out of nothing, if anything this show is helping by spreading awareness. Now had the girls been upset about being exploited for this, then I can see that argument being valid.
My mom got pregnant at 17. And looking back at my childhood it was a nightmare, she still acts like she’s stuck as a selfish teen. It seems like so many young parents don’t think about the quality of life their child will have and can’t grasp that they aren’t just having a baby. It’s making a person. As a parent you have the most impact on someone’s life, and can be positive or negative. It’s not like having a pet or a doll. Kids won’t love you unconditionally, they won’t stay the same, they’re not yours. They are human beings with thoughts and feelings, the same as you.
What I learned: 1) Buying condoms is awkward (it's a hell of a lot less awkward than having a baby when you are too young and not ready!) 2) He felt "a bit uncomfortable" by something involving the baby (you can't always spare your feelings; you made this stupid choice!) 3) He "felt like [they] were ready" to get engaged...no, you felt obligated to propose to your girlfriend that you got pregnant because you were too embarrassed to buy condoms. Wow, these people are really winners. I am 25, in a 3 year relationship with our own place and we both have a full-time job. We are not yet ready to have kids. I buy condoms and don't care who judges me (if they say anything, I'll just tell them I prefer having safe sex than taking any risks I am not ready to deal with), and I also spoke to my doctor about getting me set up with the BC pills I have been taking. If you are smart and make good choices, you don't have to deal with the lifelong decision of having a baby before you are 110% ready for it. None of the people shown demonstrated any sort of readiness to become parents. They just sort of threw themselves into it.
I LOVE long-hair mustache leather-jacket guy! If I want to buy him, how much would shipping cost? Is it cheaper if I have him shipped with no clothes? 😆😁
is this channel getting so much better? i think this channel is getting so much better than when i first watched it. like, the original taste test videos that i watched everyone was just bitchin about everything and it was a bummer.
It's been proven that this show has dramatically lowered the teenage pregnancy rate in the US. It just shows how hard their life will be after having a child.
You think twins at 16 is bad? I know a girl who dropped out of school at 13 because she got knocked up by an 18 year old. She gave birth to twins at 14. 14!
The cast of this is so Awesome and funny, and can we just pause for a second to appreciate the beauty of the girl with the really red lips and the curly hair
As a teenager I would like to say abstinence only education is stupid. Teens are always going to have sex. So teach us how to do it safely. In a way that's not going to lead to STDs and kids. I personally don't plan on having sex any time soon and even I'd I did I don't like boys so I'm not going to get pregnant but you should hear the stupid shit that comes out of the people in my years mouths.
lets not generalize mainly stupid oversexed kids have sex as teens. not to mention abstinence is the safety way possible lol. dont do it if you aren't fully prepared for what mat come after that, simple really. also what you typed was pretty stupid so you are not any different.
irish make watching 16 and pregnant so much better lol now i wanna watch the show but this time i wanna have a group of irish people making commemts that way i dont feel like choking MTV everytime
Yeah there's a reason I stopped watching that show it started to piss me off after awhile :/ like that guy said "no glove no love" it's not that hard to get a condom they even give them away for free at health clinics ugh and "I'm on birth control " is bs too cause that's not 100% effective either k sorry I'm done ranting xD
+Melanie Elizabeth Well it they aren't always that simple to get, depending on where you live. For example, broadly speaking it is more rural areas that are the most opposed to anything but abstinence-only programs. So, for example where and when I went to school we had this program taught so at least for the guys class condoms were never mentioned. People could get them if I remember right for free from the free clinic, but no one ever went there because due to the fact the town was so small if someone was seen going in one it didn't take long for word to get around. Sadly, sometimes it is difficult (or probably more accurately said be perceived as more difficult.)
+Priscillagoodfellow but the most effective way is pulling out and also Stop having sex at a young age. then there;s a 0% chance of Pregnancy happening.
I think it's the paranoia and anxiety of going into a public shop for personal needs and having the cashier find your "safety equipment." Or the lessening of pleasure because of "reasons". But now there are more options on contraception like the pill, injections and even surgeries.
16 and Pregnant and Teen Mom both started as showing how having a baby is HARD!! And people don’t stay together all the time and life isn’t all better with a baby. HOWEVER NOWWW THAT THESE GIRLS HAVE GROWN UP THEY HAVE MADE A KILLLLLING OFF OF THIS SHOW AND NOW LIVE EXPENSIVE LIVES AND MOST ARE SO MATERIALISTIC. HOWEVER THERE WAS A SHINING STORYLINE OF AMBER GOING FROM PROBLEMATIC WITH MENTAL ISSUES, A BABY, RELATIONSHIP PROBLEMS, AND A SEVERE ADDICTION PROBLEM...IT SHOWED HOW AWFUL DRUGS CAN BE AND IT ONLY TAKES ONE TIME TO BECOME THAT WAY...IT ALSO SHOWED HOW SOMEONE AT THEIR DARKEST HOUR CAN TURN THEIR LIVES AROUND. She isn’t a perfect person but she has done a lot as far as talking to young girls about preventing pregnancy and drugs.
I feel like people should START thinking about having sex when they are 20 years old... I had my first time when I was 17 yo and now I think that was too early. Way too early with not the right guy.
My friend is 16 and pregnant, she’s really smart, nice, and funny and I love her so much, and her boyfriend is a lot like that guy in many ways. She’s one of those girls who has no self worth and measures their value on if she has a boyfriend, not necessarily a good boyfriend, but just having a boyfriend. I know when she gets older she’ll either become a depressed personality-less stay at home mom or she’ll drop his ass and reach her potential. I know she can do it because she’s literally the funniest and most driven person I know, shes jut not had a good run so far
"He can afford that but he can't afford condoms" best line!
Yep it was that line that reminded me to give the video a thumbs up lmao :D

Akward buying condoms? It's WAY less awkward than having a baby at 16 wtf.
True true
themelonsoup seriously... with my sex ed they made us go buy them at a store for an assignment
That is a very smart assignment.

Amy Jay Didn't she attempt suicide afw years back?
My health teacher told us that if you aren't mature enough to go and buy condoms, you aren't mature enough to have sex.

+Lukes TFitz THANK GOODNESS!!!!!!!!!!! Besides these shows are scripted to a certain degree not totally "natural".

This is like those poor girls who are never told about menstruation and when they get their period, they believe they are hurt or dying.

My man, if buying condoms is too awkward then you're not mature enough to have sex.
LA Peters condoms don't always work, and some people are allergic to latex
kyler Scarlett 1. They work if you use them right .
2. There's a thing called non-latex condoms.
kyler Scarlett that's not the problem here, the problem here is that he has no problem condoms (like breakage) but said it's too awkward having sex with condoms.
my ex was like that, and made me steal a condom just so he wouldn't have to buy one. then he refused to use it. i didn't do it with him.

Hey guys, just wanted to say how much I LOVE these videos. :) I hope you all have an amazing year. Keep up the good work!
I agree started watching them today and I never laughed so much. Didn't realise how funny the people in my country are.
+bg3929Z You really need to watch them rag on non-Irish actors for their Irish accents. That one is spectacular.
A girl that went to my high school was on the first season.
+Nadia Mohamed Whitney Purvis.
+Madison Ozment that must've been weird
Madison Ozment lmao
@@madisonozment oh gosh
That's interesting all but I wanna know all about you girl. Hmu beautiful ✌️
“You can afford that but you can’t afford condoms” That comment just killed it!
what I love about facts is that unlike buz feed they're not desperately trying to be funny, they actually are! :) and fun to watch
I LOVE long-hair mustache leather-jacket guy! If I want to buy him, how much would shipping cost? Is it cheaper if I have him shipped with no clothes? 😆😁
No glove No love best saying ever
I was about to say that I beat +Graphic Designer Guy but then I realized this is facts, not buzzfeed. lol.
+Nadia Mohamed Lol, he's my friend so I don't mind too much.
+Tashi Kay lol I actually searched for them rotf.
+Asma Abdul Halim yeah, facts is funny.
+Nadia Mohamed yup, you seem nice as well. :)
I added this to my buzzfeed playlist and then I was like wait this isn't buzzfeed
"Taking care of twins is harder than I'd ever thought."
Bruh what did you expect??? It's a human life
"No glove, no love" XD Best thing ever.
is this channel getting so much better? i think this channel is getting so much better than when i first watched it. like, the original taste test videos that i watched everyone was just bitchin about everything and it was a bummer.
Ok. Love both leather Jacket guy and the dude with him. What are their names? Lol 💜
I don't know what it is but I cannot get enough of these videos. That accent makes everything they say hilarious
"you can't afford condoms but you can afford that"..powpowpowwwww !!!!
I'm addicted to these Facts videos because I just love all these Irish peeps!!
'no glove, no love' :'D laughed harder than I should've
I feel like life would try to screw me over like this...
JOKES ON YOU, LIFE!
I'M A LESBIAN. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH.
***** yaas
+Emma Walton lol
Lol
Blesss omg 👏🏼🙌🏼
life wouldnt screw u, obviously YOU screwed a man to get pregnant
This series should be called "Irish people watch TLC"
Truly Infamous even though this show is on mtv haha
watching this actually cheered me up. thanks guys!
It's been proven that this show has dramatically lowered the teenage pregnancy rate in the US. It just shows how hard their life will be after having a child.
These videos literally never manage to let me down I love the " Irish people watch this show"
I freaking love Irish accents!!! Too bad I cant do them.....:(
This Chanel is amazing but the fact that everyone's Irish is just SOOO much better
he can afford that but cant afford condoms HAHAHAHA
I love the black haired johny depp guy and the other cute laid back guy. There observations are always bang on and make me laugh haha.
You think twins at 16 is bad? I know a girl who dropped out of school at 13 because she got knocked up by an 18 year old. She gave birth to twins at 14. 14!
Oy
This needs to be longer omg this made me so happy :')
"No Glove no love" 😂😂😂😂CLASSIC
The cast of this is so Awesome and funny, and can we just pause for a second to appreciate the beauty of the girl with the really red lips and the curly hair
As a teenager I would like to say abstinence only education is stupid. Teens are always going to have sex. So teach us how to do it safely. In a way that's not going to lead to STDs and kids. I personally don't plan on having sex any time soon and even I'd I did I don't like boys so I'm not going to get pregnant but you should hear the stupid shit that comes out of the people in my years mouths.
Like their pull out game😧
lets not generalize mainly stupid oversexed kids have sex as teens. not to mention abstinence is the safety way possible lol. dont do it if you aren't fully prepared for what mat come after that, simple really. also what you typed was pretty stupid so you are not any different.
you can't really preach if your sex education literally is: "this is a penis. thats a vagina. don't fuck plz"
My friend had twins at 18 and the dad has been wonderful. The twins are now 12 and the family is happy.
"he can afford that but he can't afford condoms" BOOM
"Chicken wings? oh I though it was going to be chicken wings"
I THOUGHT IT WAS GONNA BE CHICKEN WINGS
it's so good to hear my fellow Irish people's voice because literally all of the videos i've watched the speaker has an american accent (no hate)
"Josh's father is basically Josh with sunglasses on" lol
When it shows Josh's face with the cap on his head I think I died of laughter 😂😂 it just looked to weird
This definitely should be shown in every school across America. sex ed ya know.
irish make watching 16 and pregnant so much better lol now i wanna watch the show but this time i wanna have a group of irish people making commemts that way i dont feel like choking MTV everytime
+officialmer I didint know that but that's good to know but yeah back to my point exactly :P
Aaron Hoy Yeah I guess that's true I live in the city so I guess I didint know that
if u use birth control pill and condom then the chance of getting pregnant is really small
+Priscillagoodfellow but the most effective way is pulling out and also Stop having sex at a young age. then there;s a 0% chance of Pregnancy happening.
Blaithin was hilarious in this video. I love both speeches.
They said that after this program aired teen pregnancy went down.
“I thought it was going to be chicken wings” BEST LINE EVER! And same
"No glove no love."
the long haired dude is the biggest king ever! :D
I keep watching these vids just to see his reaction
"No glove, no love." 😂
their reactions are so great
Favourite series
I'm 42,with twins, and it certainly is a constant shit. My kids are 7 so I've kept them alive 🤓
Hahaha I've thankfully never watched this show but as always, your reactions are priceless. Great episode.
No glove no love......huh. I want to put that on a shirt.
I would like to have seen more reactions at the end. it felt like it was cut short. maybe a part 2?
what is awkward about buying condoms? Never understood that.
I think it's the paranoia and anxiety of going into a public shop for personal needs and having the cashier find your "safety equipment." Or the lessening of pleasure because of "reasons". But now there are more options on contraception like the pill, injections and even surgeries.
Not the buying part. i think...the wearing part?
People talk a lot of shit making these sexually active teens feel like it's wrong to go buy condoms.
RockBeauty :3
It’s really not, I would be more ashamed if I had to buy diapers😂.
Also my ex used to order them online, but he’s just lazy.
@@CassidyStarke So you never had siblings or nieces or nephews you had to buy diapers for? 🤔
The guy with the leather jacket is my favorite 😂😂 he's really funny
I love you Irish people!!!! So funny!
"Oh I thought it was gonna be chicken wings"
Way too early with not the right guy.
you know whats worse? having a kid after high school to spite the ex.
WHAT
what a pathology... to spite the ex you can buy a car or smth, but kid? It's not an object.
I just love hearing Irish people talk.
I would rather have chicken wings...
I read somewhere that after this show started airing on MTV that there was a decrease in teen pregnancy. Kudos!
American people try bun go Barr or ceartlutriú
These are great for me to watch because I love the Irish accent
Kids having kids...
"It's awkward buying condoms..." So, now, I've ruined both our lives!
I wanna see them react to jacksepticeye.
Because reasons. lol
No! Don't show this in schools! Girls will want to be tv stars.
