His idea of communicating is to: (1) reply to jokes in a literal manner, (2) throw out a kneejerk response instead of thinking of an actual response, and (3) do the bare minimum then act offended when he's expected to do more.
It's just like the Faildozer clip: Ron & everyone else: "Earl, here's what you're doing wrong & you need to work on it." Earl: "Hmmmm, I don't see it that way."
Without Earl, this show would have been Ron acting like Fez's shrink, and him bringing on nothing message board twats like HTG. You should be thankful that Earl exists.
