This is still my favorite concert I've attended to this day. I remember there weren't that many people. Some guitarists in the room that I knew, and everybody was in awe. This concert inspired me so much as a musician. The thing that struck me was his use of dynamics and his calmness and control. I guess he got the dynamic thing from watching Bob Brozman play. It's awesome that this is on UA-cam, and every year I keep coming back to it.
Everything you want in a guitar player; fearless, accurate, trend setting, weird, inclusive and exclusive simultaneously. Seriously, Blake just knocked the wind out of every musical connoisseur.
This is what's missing from blake's albums. He tugs on your heart strings like a man whose lived two lifetimes but he (and his band) doesn't go off enough like this!
I agree… his new album is classic Blake though, very strange but great. I hope he makes a more band oriented album which I’m sure he will, he seems to reinvent himself every album while still keeping what makes Blake Blake.
i was at this concert and it was my first time smoking hash. even though everyone was sick in the band (drummer ran out mid concert to throw up), they opened up musical worlds i hadn't seen before. forever thankful for that.
Calling Blake Mills a guitar player would be undermining his genius. He's an artist of the highest caliber. Comparisons may be futile but his fearless abilities with songwriting and playing bring Hendrix to mind. An honour to witness such brilliance, a pity he isn't more widely known and appreciated.
Blake is way too shy and modest to blow everyone's mind. According to his talent and sensibility, he easily could turn into a strong mainstream singer and guitar player by dealing some easy pop songs. But he isn't, and that's a really good thing for all of us! Keep rocking in silence Blake! We love your playing!
Blake Mills should be a mandatory part of guitar classes and courses. He is always pulling licks from nowhere that aren’t typical guitar riffs you heard 1000 times. They are totally a new voice but fit so well…
I'm blown away by this ! Although I'm a verry average (bedroom) guitar player, I can't help analyse what guitar players do (I'm not saying I understand). With Blake Mills in this one, I just listen to the unexpected. 😯
Tim Ruiz, this was recorded in a small concert hall ( approx 400 Seats) , called The Tolhuistuin. In the Amsterdam North area. It’s a dependance of the Paradiso concert hall
@@michaelray1386 sorry just seeing this now - blake worked on john legends record and chris and pino played on it. blake sat in with the drumhedz a couple of times. now blake's new project with pino (chris plays on it)

Brilliant and accurate comment.
Never seen a better description of this guys ludicrous playing!
Well said!
and he surrounds himself with similarly exemplary musicians.

Congratulations. This is the only video that captures his genius.

This cat is an artist of highest order!!!
great bass player in the band, and blake mills is an absolutely amazing guitar player, thx for the video
Wow. Thanks. Blake is talented in so many ways. Bass player was in Soul Coughing and on Yerba Buena’s totally awesome “President Alien” disc.
What an awesome performance and a respectful audience.
Fantastic upload, love how the band gels together, Blake clearly is a player's musician letting these guys go ape shit.
Brilliant! One of the best things I've seen and heard in a while
Love this kid from Malibu. i am a big Matt Sweeney fan. Guitar moves brought me here. I can't get enough Blake Mills!!!

Such a great tasty slide playing, love it ! Your Coodercaster is just ringing like bells in heaven
This guy is not human. The playing is soo damn unique and soooo tasteful. His approach is so different than any players I've ever heard.
that's incredible. thanks for sharing
Bedankt Tino! Een van de weinige video's van deze geweldige gitarist !
Makes me want to fire up this piece of hash sitting in front of me. This is so cool. Just a good ol' fashioned stoned jam. Love it!😎✌🎸

Amazing. So good!
Dude is in the zone
the bass player seems like he's enjoying his own trip. that aside, he's absolutely amazing!
Fantastic chaos...Just murdering it!

Woaw, apart from the whole band, i'm convinced Blake Mills is the best guitarist OF ALL TIME
Thanks for sharing!
damn this is infectious
Great rhythm section and then Blake
absolutely flawless. Puts you in a whole new world far away from this one...
Real Deal Stuff right here.........Great.
Blake looks like he is playing a new guitar. ( Fender ) Not his old Coodercaster style guitar.
Fender should offer this. Sounds nice.
Very heavily modded guitar...
Thanks to Scott Tournet for turning me on to this dude today.
Yes, I enjoyed that a lot!
So I see Sebastian Steinberg on bass, but who's playing drums and keys?
holy shit!
incredible
anyone know if this is a cover ?
kronald torks nope, he wrote this track but it's mostly an improvised version of his own song.
Where was this ?
