  • South African Jazz band, the Kopano Jazz Collective perform an original composition (entitled Khomotso Yaka) dedicated to the giants that came before them. They give a brief context to the historical significance of South African Jazz. Shedding light on the human connection this music has created as well as the ways in which it continues to express and make sense of the chaos around us. Formed in 2018, The Kopano Jazz Collective are an innovative, driven and professional band made up of Jazz musicians of a high calibre. Saxophonist and M.D Godfrey Mntambo, Bassist and M.D Angus Hardcastle, the exceptionally talented pianist Josh Mokoena and equally talented drummers Enoch Marutha and Nicholas Bjorkman. South African Jazz is their true compositional direction and passion. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
