- Guitar Gallery has this beautiful brand new Martin O Tenor (Sinker Mahogany). Martin has built the world’s finest ukuleles since 1916, and they been building tenor ukes since 1929 that have long been prized for their full-bodied voice and significant volume.
Our good friend, Heinrich Pelser, visited us to demonstrate the the beautiful and soothing tones of this wonderful little instrument.
The 0 Tenor Uke features a neck, top, back, and sides made from Martin’s coveted stash of sinker mahogany that was salvaged from the bottom of a river in Belize. Sinker mahogany offers a dense and complex tone that makes this model stand out from the crowd. This model includes a beautiful satin finish and an old-style script logo. Your audio did well to capture the quality sound of this Martin. I just purchased a new Martin 2K Tenor amd it is as lovely.
I just ordered one. The backstory on the wood is that mahogany forests were thicker and more dense and the trees were very large. In the Country of Belize, South of Mexico, these trees called ‘Sinkers’ were all harvested between 1880 and 1920.
The large cut trees were floated down a river to transport, but as many as 1/3 of all those trees SUNK to the bottom.
They used sonar and other electronics to locate these trees.
Martin Guitar got a hold of a lot of this wood and made Ukuleles and custom 18 series guitars (18’s are Mahogany).
I can’t wait to get my hands on it!
Awesome! Thanks for the info
Did you get your yet ?
@@jorgequito9562 Yes. It’s fantastic.
Di you get a tenor ?
@@jorgequito9562 Yes. Tenor with a low G.
Great Sound for a ukulele and very guitar like resonance?
The first time I’ve come across this channel, a very nice review! Thank you 😊
Wow, a true gem !! 😍That woooood !... (swoon). And that sound !!!
Ok, I need one now. 😂
I sure wish i had your talent! Thank you!
Thanks for the review and the music! I've been extremely curious about this instrument. It sounds great when you play it!
Nice review. I wish other's on Y/Tube were as comprehensive and inspiring as this.
Dude absolutely shredded that little thing 😂
Hehe. Thanks
Yes! I managed to purchase one of these beauties…
want to sell it??
Probably not, I live in NZ so I’m guessing freight would be too expensive.
This sounds almost like a guitar with steel string. Might get one in the future, my Martin IZ is still on the way.
Did you get your IZ yet ?
@@jorgequito9562 yes a couple of weeks ago, i changed the strings with low G right away, i have the T1k, C1K and S1 and comparing to them i would say the sound is clearer, ping sound vs tink sound. to put it i would say its 25% better sounding if "better sound" can be quantified by percentage. i got it from a dealer before the price increase, took about 6 mos of waiting.
Thank you so much for taking your time to reply ; which strings did you get?
@@jorgequito9562 i initially got the aquila reds non wound but after 2 days it broke from the nut even with lubricant, then i installed the aquila red wounded and still using them, the rest of the strings are the stock black strings from Martin but im not sure which exact models are they.
Thank you so much for this review; I listen to it few times because of the beautiful sound ; can you please tell me the difference with the 1T IZ .
Thank you
Jorge
I want one sooooo badly! Hard to find now though :-/
Sam Ash recently posted a new one. Probably the last one available anywhere
I own one and it’s amazing
I think regular mahogany is stronger.
Apparently Martin are no longer making these investments.
martin discontinued this model very stupid
And I found one too, not easy to find but I succeeded. I live in Italy but since I'm abroad for work, and I'll be back in January, I'll still have to wait before I can play it!
