I could listen to Rhonda sing from morning to night. Sometimes I do. No one has a voice like her. Beauty inside and out. In my opinion, one of the best singers ever.
Something I notice here -- even when she was younger there was this vibrancy and energy that few people have. Even with just that you know she will be something special. This extra gear that maybe one in 100 million people have -- and we are so lucky for it in this case as she used it to create magnificent music. I met her once, fell in love instantly, she is amazing.
so glad she's back to her bluegrass/gospel roots for awhile now.....Rhonda is truly the "Queen of Bluegrass" nowadays and I'm so proud she's from Missouri, like me. this is a great vid, ty for posting & sharing
Rhonda is one of the best singers I have ever heard! I listen to her all the time. No other is like her. If you appreciate good music, you will appreciate Rhonda . Love her and her music. So much talent coming from one person.
This is the first time I've seen or heard Rhonda in her younger days. She does a really good job with this song. True country.- some of the best. She looks lovely - very classy - and so do the other musicians. I like all of her music and it's good to find so many good songs by her on UA-cam. She does a great job singing duets with super country artist Gene Watson, too. Thank you for posting this one. - Paula
I am at a loss for words. This lady and band is absolutely amazing. Why in the hell would they not be on national radio? If I only had the money, everyone would win.
My father went heaven in 2007, and he loved Rhonda. I also love her & her music. EVERYBODY loves Rhonda. One of her beautiful recordings played at my Dad's funeral. She will ALWAYS be special to me.
This performance was indeed intended to be country, as this happened during her "country era". In 1985 she won a recording contract with Jim Ed Brown; later she signed a contract with Giant Records and released two country albums. This GOP appearance was a featured single promoting the first of those albums. The song became her first commercial video. In 2000 she came home to Bluegrass with a vengeance, one year touring 320 days. From the age of 5 to 50, she has earned the status she holds.
I'm glad you have tuned into Rhonda - many great listening hours to you. I really don't notice any significant vocal distinction between TRUE country and bluegrass, so it is easy to see how she can swing back and forth with ease. It's sort of like the chap who was able to be a liberal in youth, a moderate in middle years and a conservative in old age simply by holding to the same opinions. The difference in the musical styles derives primarily from a different set of instrument tonal blend.
This is where it made a great singer sing her song & we got to see how really talented Rhonda & her family were. Thank you Vincent family!! I know they played in Missouri earlier in their career but only seen 2 videos which were great. The best.
Rhonda, you have absolutely the cutest smile that I have ever seen, and I've been around for quite some time. You lower that head, then you throw it back with a full beam lit across your face. It is so honest, so pure, so contagious! A smile like that would launch a thousand ships!
Julie Brtek: My pleasure. I ask that you watch it at ua-cam.com/video/RKLPSKOGALc/v-deo.html instead of here, as the audio is much better. It took me 3 tries to get it right. :-)
You may not believe this but I have watched many Rhonda Vincent videos today for the first time !!!! Im ashamed to say I have not taken much notice of the name in the past but Im hooked on her now. You might forgive me a little when I tell you Im from England UK where we love country and bluegrass but we only get about one hour on the radio per week, and much of that is pop rock they call country. I love Rhondas version of Jolene better than dolly's, but Dolly was looking to cross over.
Amazing Rhonda!! The Queen of Blue Grass with a God given talent, like no others!! I didn't know who they were until a few yrs ago...I just can't believe what I hear!!!
I'm in full agreement with you. Although I am first and foremost a bluegrass follower, and in that venue Rhonda is one of my very favorites, she is every bit as good in a true country setting. I was posting with a bit of tongue and cheek, as I love pedal steel, and Weldon's work in particular. He added a great deal here, as he always did.
I continued to sing her praises and keep up with her subsequent CD's & sing some of her songs. I live in the state of Washington and Rhonda had not made a single personal appearance to the Pacific Northwest until she debuted at the huge Wintergrass festival in 2003. I was there to enjoy the reaction everybody had as she blew the doors off. Talented, beautiful, energetic and genuinely kind, the word spread like wildfire! Everybody LOVES HER! She'll be at the Darrington BG fest this summer!
Glenn Johnson Love Rhonda but boy, what a wonderful surprise when she visited the Music bar and grill in Nashville while i was there last year on a tour to the USA.Love this early footage, first time viewed.
Great musicians like Weldon dont take from a performance they give , and compliment the performance with tasteful playing in just the right places. One of the greatest session men.
Rhonda is the NEW Darlin' for Country. Even if this was lots of years ago. Loretta never got old, Tanya never did did either, Rhonda is a class act & always will be....
I , like many others got disillusioned with country music radio and stopped listening to it. I live in the UK so we only get a one hour programme per week on BBC radio so you will begin to understand how easy it is to miss great people like Rhonda Vincent. I use youtube now to find out what is really out there in country music as well as watching all my old favourites. I have discovered Rhonda Vincent late but Im a new fan now, I have to import Cds and DVDs from USA but thats simple now.
Rhonda Lea Vincent (born July 13, 1962) is an American bluegrass singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. In 2000, The Wall Street Journal proclaimed Vincent "the new Queen of Bluegrass.
I'm glad you like Rhonda. If you are the kind of fan I am, you really need the "Ragin' Live" video, as it includes a personal, "walk with Rhonda" through her home town. She is unique: an international star that treats every person as important. Try making contact with any other star through email, Facebook, etc. and see how far you get.
Ida Berrones: Indeed, she was. Unfortunately, in American society, dyeing hair to keep it brown is criticized, but dyeing it blonde is accepted. Weird! If you wish to hear the video properly, please go to this one ua-cam.com/video/RKLPSKOGALc/v-deo.html which is my 3rd attempt to have a stable stereo version; it appears that it will hold. Thanks for your comment.
Thanks for the praise! I wonder if you realize how your comment is "keeping it in the family". Rhonda is 9 years and 10 days older than Alison, and when Rhonda began touring with Jim Ed Brown, Alison replaced her in the family band, even wearing some of Rhonda's clothes. The year following this Opry performance, Alison became an Opry member, at the age of 21 - one of 18 people accorded that honor in the 1990 decade.
Greetings from Dublin Ireland brother and sisters ... we know the real deal Rhonda Vincent is in a leagues of her own I too felt Her voodoo...She can SANG
Kerry Evans: Good to "hear" from you. Please go to the replacement video so you can hear it the way it should sound. The right channel died on this upload, so you really can't appreciate it. Click here: ua-cam.com/video/RKLPSKOGALc/v-deo.html
Thanks, I favorited your video. Your math is off, though I can't say how much. 20 years before my video she was only 10. Two things I know for sure: her face and her singing keep getting more beautiful.
When done well, both musical forms are equally compelling, and a far cry greater in appeal (at least for me) than the pop rock marketed as "country" today. It makes me sad to realize that true country has become almost an endangered species, and very hard to pick up on the media. You might be interested in tuning on the internet to WNCW on Saturday afternoon for several hours of uninterrupted bluegrass, broadcast from here in western North Carolina, USA. Hope to give back some - UK gave JRRT.
Rhonda is the best female bluegrass singer, and that's saying a lot. I'm the last person to even imagine suggesting any change in the Bluegrass band instrument make up for any number of valid reasons, and this is one ultimate group, but Weldon's pedal steel work sure didn't take anything away from the presentation.
@assassinator82 I'm not sure, but Rhonda's introduction indicates he is the one next to her, playing bass. He had a lot of hair then. My 6-year-old video "Dolly Parton - Welcome Home" shows him pretty much the way he looks now. I put name tags on him and Rhonda at about 2 minutes.
@clyderf You and I have a lot in common: Clyde (my middle name), an honorable name untl Ray Stevens applied it to a camel :-), age, and a love for Rhonda and Weldon Myrick. The Grand Old Opry has not been the same since he left. I don't care for steel guitar solos, but on songs where he did his super excellent accents and short breaks for Rhonda (her country period) and Reba McEntire, for example, I know where he is on every song and wait expectantly to hear him. He's the best.
I love this version of the song vs the later one she put out, I still can remember watching Nashville Now when she was a guest, Crook and Chase were the Mcs. Anyway they introduced Rhonda and the curtain went up i just had a feeling something was gonna happen, LOL The Mic stand she was singing in got caught in the curtain as it raised, Rhonda was so embarrassed but everyone else was laughin it was kinda funny
I could listen to Rhonda sing from morning to night. Sometimes I do. No one has a voice like her. Beauty inside and out. In my opinion, one of the best singers ever.
I can listen to you sing this over and over. One of the greatest singers ever. What a gift God has given you.
One of the finest female singers in country music for the past two decades.
One of the very best Bluegrass performers. Go lady. You are much appreciated by true Bluegrass fans.
Something I notice here -- even when she was younger there was this vibrancy and energy that few people have. Even with just that you know she will be something special. First time I saw her with brown hair she looks beautiful

The undisputed Queen of bluegrass with a voice like no other.
This is one of my favorite songs. Thanks for posting it.I have several of her CDs.
Ive loved Rhonda Vincent's music since I first saw the video to this song on CMT in 1993, truly the queen of bluegrass!
All I want to say is that she is stunningly gorgeous here. Her voice is beyond compare, and her skin is amazing. I want to caress it!!!

Take a cold shower Bill.
Hearing her sing could make a man die with a smile on his face! Cold water or hot water wouldn't wipe it off!
This was the first time I ever heard of Rhonda I joined her fan club right away Still love her and the Rage
Beautiful woman with a beautiful song. You go, Rhonda.

I love the way she introduced her Dad, Mom and he two ornery brothers.

Not only is Queen of Bluegrass, she is the Queen of all music.

I share your thoughts "sid" the entire Vincent clan is fantastic.
Beautiful singing, not all the screaming that goes on today.

Bill Tate
