  • This is one of my Hoover Juniors from my collection - its a January 1970 manufactured model 1346A, in Teal green. This particular colour 1346A is significant to me as it would have been the model of Junior on sale in the shops in the year I was born. Indeed, the 1346/1346A is my favourite style of Junior. Here, I demo it with and without the tool set that was available at the time.
An all time classic machine, and common in many households throughout the 60's 70's and 80's, the Hoover Junior was loved by millions in its day - even though by todays standards it was not all that good at cleaning.
It was also the model that James Dyson referred to back in the early 90's when he talked about vacuum cleaner bags clogging and losing suction.
These type of cleaners all used a single layer paper dust bag, and Mr Dyson happened to be using a Hoover Junior when he made his observations, to come to the conclusion that the world needed a "Bagless Dual Cyclonic" vacuum cleaner that, unlike the Junior, didn't lose suction.
