I've been a professional cameraman for over thirty years, and an amateur machinist for only about five months. I'm impressed at your skill in both disciplines. Very nicely done!
nice work!!
Learn from the best! Thanks for stopping by
Haha I was like this is another one of Tony’s disciples. And here you are. 🔔
@@westweld Really novel take on the ball turner. Mounting it via the QCTP is a really clever. It really highlights that a QCTP can be so much more than just for basic tooling.
Just a thing for future videos do a bit of an intro where you are describing what your building or going to build. This is novel in that you are mounting it off the tool post but that isn't obvious until right near the end. So a some of what you were making at times wasn't very clear as to purpose. Some stuff was obvious but how it was all going to go together and work wasn't so clear.
Absolutely nice work. I'm a convert made my living doing hi end wood projects ,circular stairs, custom furniture all the fun stuff a lot of no budget make her happy jobs! That said I'm converting more to steel projects. After all a cut is a cut its all the same but different!
I appreciate your videos it helps ,my sor spots are what tooling and fixtures, clamping.
Daaammmnnn it, I was just about to make a ToT reference and the fucking legend himself beats me to it.
This is probably the greatest of all machinist porn ever made. The cinematography, the soundtrack. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽Thank you!! You’ve earned every bit of these likes and subscribe.
Nice machining, but the quality of filming and video production makes it pure joy to watch.
When I was an apprentice at Lucas Aerospace in the 1970s I got an award for making similar to dress the grinding wheel on a universal grinder to put a radius surface on to a stainless pipe joint that allowed it to move without leaking.
That was phenomenal! The build stands on its own, let alone the composition and the way you put the video together. Hats off my friend!!!
Thank you man!
I'm a man of simple tastes, I like "Beer" brand beer and "alloy" steel. Awesome work on the project, and badass video!
I only watched to enjoy the skill and honesty I learned new tricks and skills in every second
Nice work your attention to detail is what made it for me and I also love your lathe always wanted one just like it also noticed all of the top quality tooling and measuring tools most of it top shelf I can tell you have been successful in your work or you could not have afforded all the nice equipment my hats off to you young man your work is also top shelf thanks for sharing from a retired machinist of 50 years
That was nothing short of extraordinary skill, so I’m left to wonder how 13 people could possibly give this a thumbs down. Very impressive machining and the video and soundtrack were first rate. Subscribed!
The more I discover your videos the more I am impressed by the quality of your work.
The camera work is among the best I’ve seen for machining content. Please keep producing. Thanks.
I’m not sure what part is my favorite, the music, the tooling, the machining, or his beard. Nice work brother!
Incredible machining and the filming/production was very easy on the eyes. Keep up the fantastic work, our world needs as many craftsmen as possible!
I'm loving your attention to detail on these projects. It's nice to see someone putting a high quality finish on parts instead of just smashing them all over with an angle grinder and then painting with a rattle can of cheap paint. Nice job. Mark from Australia.
Thanks Mark im not much of a machinist so I need to at least make it Shiney haha
BALLER! Very enjoyable to watch, great camera work/editing, excellent machining, nice design and perfect tunes. Looks like your achieving superb surface finish buffing with the Scotchbrite EXL wheel (info posted in your response to Tommy). Thanks for the tip!
Best,
Hoji
Really enjoyed this, thanks mate. What set this video apart from many other channels for me was the inclusion of all your metrology; setup, in progress and inspection. It’s a vital part of the job and interesting to see!
Amazing work. Love watching the process. Professional all the way!!
Beautiful work! Love seeing the process. Great video work too! Thanks for sharing.
Love the music. So chilled. Nice work too
Enjoyed every aspect of this video. Absolutely fascinating. Thank you for sharing
being a machinist for years using manual machines! the finish work was awesome. thanks for the video. Whoever you are that gave a thumbs down you are just not smart enough to understand what he did and the process it took to get there. go play video games guys
You have some serious skills! Much respect!
Just ran across this video and decided to watch it. I had to laugh when I seen your crocks shoes, I had the same ones and I used to where then in my shop too!!! Great video
What chumps gave a thumbs down!?!? Apparently they cannot appreciate quality work AND videos. Now I know what a ball turner is. Have you ever done a shop tour, looks like you have EVERYTHING!
No shop tour yet but I have several requests so I think I will.
Watching your work I could get competent. Thanks.
Just watched it again. This is one of my favourite machining videos on this plattform
Thanks Christoph I appreciate that
Alloy has quickly become one of my favorite materials to work with. So predictable and cooperative, and I know the exact speeds and feeds to use without having to look anything up!
Beautiful work and you really know how to get the action on the screen. Keep em coming!
Hey thanks glad you liked it
Awesome project and loved your humor. Great camera and narrative. Thank you for publishing this vid.
Great job, thanks for the tip on how to put the part on the 4 jaw chuck using the tailstock as a support to guide the center of the machine 😍👍🙏🏼
If tarantino done machining films!👍👍👍
Excellent, love your work. Great tool and you clearly respect them. well done.
No slouch in that work. Excellent and superbly presented

A great tool for working with steel. Good job !
Perfect footage and music combination
god damn dude, this is just some solid freakin machining. beautiful camera work too. I'm pretty new to machining, been at it for just a bit under a year now, and sometimes I get discouraged because there is a lot to learn and sometimes problems can be difficult to track down. but every now and then I find a guy like you on youtube, just making beautiful parts and making crunchy, thick-ass chips, and it always gets me back in the shop with that extra motivation needed to tackle something I've been putting off, or maybe just to be less lazy about something. thanks for taking the time to make these videos on top of all the work you did to make the part. really man, thanks.
Hey thanks man I appreciate that. I'll you what I did to learn that really helped me......I started with the most difficult project I could find and struggled my way through it but by the end I had learned alot.
I would love to make this for school.
Wow - what a great channel. I’ve immediately subscribed and look forward to seeing the rest of your high quality content. 👍👍😎👍👍
Outstanding editing. Great build too.
Awesome work and video. Great tunes too..
Exceptional videography.
Excellent music and machining.
Fantastic project.
Nicely done!
Very happy about finding this channel! Great video and project brother! Cheers from Argentina
Great video and amazing build. I'm impressed with the part off, I always manage to blow up my cutter. Keep up the great content, subbed.
Excellent video. Very impressive all around.
Amazing use of tools, I learned more in this video then in a hole month class
Man your videos are awesome. I watch them wanting to see each step and at the end I’m always like” that’s is bad ass.”
Discovered you today, and its Really nice! I love your shop, how everything is available and yet compactly arranged. You're very methodical and organized in every department - work holding, gauging, tool storage, machining, design. Loved the quality of the weld and how you take care of the surface finishes on all parts. Love your vacuuming of chips and keeping everything neat and tidy. Superb camera work and video editing. You're a rising star - burn big, bright and long! I would like if you could describe the project in short beforehand do that we know how everything falls into place. I was scratching my head all along what a ball turner could be! Keep it up man, love your work! And don't you dare not call yourself a Machinist!
The video editing is very thoughtful, I like the music very nice choice 👌. And ofcourse the machining process with very high details, very professional. I am so jealous that you have all these tools.
Really inspiring to see such good work!
Your videos are mesmerizing, not to mention the machine work. This is coming from a photographer, machinist, and 30 year retired Submariner. I will pay you a compliment that I have paid to few others, "you would have made a great submariner". Imagine this, your submarine is deployed somewhere off the coast of Petropavlovsk on a top secret mission and the boat's Oxygen Generator breaks and you don't have the part on board. All you have is a small South Bend Lathe with a Versa-mill attachment; you not only design the work around part, but you machine it from the very limited supply of stock on board. All of this accomplished 500 feet below the surface of a very cold and unforgiving ocean. There is no doubt in my mind that you could have and would have excelled in this world. Ken B, MMCM/SS/SW, USN Retired, Pearland Texas
Thanks Ken!......it sounds like an awesome job
From another ex-nuke submariner, I second the motion. Consider yourself an honorary. Seriously, you have the mindset, the discipline. I'd have been happy to serve with you, and I don't say that about many civilians.

Good job with this project
Awesome build! Your video production quality is fantastic.
Excellent work! You are an artist!!
What a wonderful job, and a pleasure to watch. Thank you.
Thanks Big Al!
Thank's for a nice work and to a great inspiration 👍👍👍👍
Great techniques, live and learn!
Earns a subscription in my book! Nicely done!
congratulations, a very accurate video and a complete equipment
When you opened the case and the angels awed. That's like the whole job to me. F n WOW⚠
You are a true craftsman.
Really nice work, just subscribed cause the work AND the video are so well done. You can see the effort you put in the making of the video. So many camera positions a d so many steps that show how you done everything. So much work have to be appreciated. 👍
Great machine work, and camera work 👍 keep em coming!
I don’t do a ton of machining so I really enjoy watching videos like this to see all the really smart techniques used. I’ve wanted to make a ball turner for my Logan for a while, and seeing this brings that a lot closer to the top of the to do list
Thanks man glad you liked it. Its a fun project and you can build it out of anything laying around really just make sure you have a little adjustment so you can get your tool height on center.
@@westweld please the music linke
Everything from the build to the editing is fantastic! Keep up the good work.
Thanks I appreciate that ......this is my favorite video wish I could make them all like this
Very nice build. I can imagine several uses for this. And that was a very useful tip regarding the die and shoulder proximity. Thank you for sharing this. You do need to get yourself a Baldor (or 3) for finishing touches.
Dude You are Talented. I own an Industrial Machining & Welding Shop that had 50 employees. Have done work all over North America and worked overseas. You have real Talent & Skill. Great Job
Thanks man I really appreciate that
I watch vids like this to keep the memories fresh. Good work!
@MichaelKingsfordGray I guess I just don't understand the need for some to attack others over nothing. I appreciate the man's video as it keeps my memory fresh on shop procedures. After 46 years in the machine trade, I have interest in this work, and enjoy watching it. Why do you feel the need to call people names over such issues? Grow up!
I enjoyed the techniques you used to get your precision in the prices you made. I made a ball turner years ago and only used it twice. I like your design with the bearing. Solid. Love your shop too
Thanks man I appreciate that my shop is small but ive worked hard for it.
Wow that was so good to watch
Great Job! Love this video
Man, this thing is gorgeous
Great work and thanks for posting!
Great production value.
EXCELLENT CRAFTSMANSHIP 😎👍 CAN'T WAIT TO SEE MORE OF YOUR CONTENT
Just found your channel and this video. Beautiful work all around. Machining, videoing and editing.
Well done
Awesome fabrication,my brother made a ball hitch the size of a grapefruit as a joke for his GTO back in the day at our machine shop in phx!👍
Excellent craftsmanship, Nice tunes aswell for the shots. Really like to see you make this especially with the measuring tools required. Not slot of people on YT actually use micrometers and true measures and such.
Nice work mate!
really nice job sir, the moment you opened your collet chuck box made me laugh, respect to you, i am subscribed !
Ohh man What a lovely work
I've been watching every moment of it
Be blessed
Nice work. Drawings yes please.
That was some beautiful work. I enjoyed.
Thanks! Not as nice as the one you just got but it was a fun project......I think making one out of a boring head is the way to go but I dont have a bunch of spare boring heads lying around haha
Great work 👏🏾
I like how adventurous you are with your shots it’s inspiring to me hope fully I can use these on my videos
Thanks man.....ive been watching your channel for awhile now....i found it when you were building the belt grinder.......that lathe turned out really nice too
Nice video. I hope to see the plans soon, they can be adapted to others needs.
Amazing 👏 workmanship dear, each and every process is done very nicely, cleanly and precisely 😀👌👍😊👏
Dude does some awesome work
You are an artist.
