I know the ACTUAL movie car has a 420a... But in the Dodger's Stadium scene there are plenty of turbo and blow-off noises to be heard. So within the fiction of the movie (suspension of disbelief) the Eclipse is supposed to be either a GS-T or a GSX. I just assume GSX because why would he not get the top model with an $80,000 budget from the FBI. ;) Hope this clears things up. So yes, the car used on set was base GS non-turbo model. and yes, the car within the fiction of the movie is portrayed as either a GS-T or GSX turbo model. (Due to all of the turbo noises it makes)

I remember after the movie came out, everyone started slapping those big-ass aluminum spoilers on their trunks. They thought having those spoilers boosted their car's cool factor by a few levels 😂 You see Camrys, Sonatas & all kinds of domestic sedans with giant spoilers in the rear while the rest of the car stayed stock 😂

Those DSM cars were built in my hometown of Normal, Illinois. I remember as a kid seeing the plants car yard full of gen 1 and gen2’s. The lot is insanely huge. Sadly, the Highway exit no longer says Mitsubishi Motor Way. The Plant is now owned by Rivian, and since been renamed 100 Rivian Motorway. I truly hope it brings us jobs if we can all make it through Covid-19. So glad I saw this episode, it brought me right back to my youth. I can proudly say I got to drive a Gen 1 with a 4G63 5 speed turbo brand new when I was 16yrs old circa’93. Amazing cars. Who knew those motors would still be animals to this very day. Okay so a couple things. I owned a 1995 GS-T from 1995-200 ( I totaled it) This is an awesome car. Just 1 correction. In the car in the movie, was a 1995 RS. Not a 1999 GS-T. (Yes with the Neon engine) All the turbo sounds and engine sounds in the movie were dubbed in later. The RS is front wheel drive with a cheaper stereo, no rear widow wiper either, and no fog lamps Also the GS-T, has a moonroof, and is front wheel drive, The GS-X is the only one that’s all wheel drive (The other difference between the GS-T and GS-X is that the GS-X came with a power drivers seat that was leather.) The GS-X may have had more stuff, but the GA-T was faster because it was way lighter. Both the GS-T and GS-X had the same turbo 4, making 210 HP Stock. So this car was absolutely done exact! Beautiful!!!!

Everyone bashing the 420a probably never drove a RS. Sure 140hp is SLOW but it’s shifty and very simple. Not much electronics to worry about, no boost probs, just a simple yet durable 4 banger. I have a $800 magnaflow catback on mine and I have a blast driving it. Sounds as good as a Type R. No BS. I beat on the motor every now and then and I’ve had no issues! I bought mine without knowing how to drive stick and drove it home (70 miles). You can imagine how much clutch wear that is. But 3 months later and no issues at all. DSM’s are definitely head turners when done right. I highly recommend a RS/GS as a first car or project.
Sure that style of car is outdated, but its more of a symbol. Its about the way it makes you feel and takes you back to that moment when many of us wished we were just like Brian!

Even in the movie it is a GS. When he pops the hood in the movie scene its a N/A 420A. The move car itself could possibly even be an RS. No GST or GSXs in the movie. So this car is more accurate than someone doing this to a GST or GSX
The eclipse was actually the correct model. It was supposed to be the GSX according to the movie but the Actual car was the N/A front wheel drive base model. But still a beautiful iconic car

Okay, the Gsx is a masterpiece of wonder EVO3 block 6/7 bolt. But in the movie, when they pop the hood it's the y420a under the hood red msd pack, 3in intake, I had one as my first car. let's not forget the gst, or if ur brave y420a-t. I see a t3/4t Dominick it has direct nitrous injection, yeah and a stand alone fuel management system. Witch u need for tuning no matter witch model. Not blasting just informed its a favorite car. Even in the movie it is a GS. When he pops the hood in the movie scene its a N/A 420A. The move car itself could possibly even be an RS. No GST or GSXs in the movie. So this car is more accurate than someone doing this to a GST or GSX

The eclipse was actually the correct model. It was supposed to be the GSX according to the movie but the Actual car was the N/A front wheel drive base model. But still a beautiful iconic car

Okay, the Gsx is a masterpiece of wonder EVO3 block 6/7 bolt. But in the movie, when they pop the hood it's the y420a under the hood red msd pack, 3in intake, I had one as my first car. let's not forget the gst, or if ur brave y420a-t.
