Very good tutorial, thanks. For my liking I switched the objects in the end fracture to render instances, with larger scenes this helped me with performance issues. Rotation, scaling etc. will still be possible when editing the instances in object mode.

Hi, first of all, thank you so much for this amazing tutorial, this is really awesome. I have a problem at 3:43, when I make the linear field, all the things don't explode like they should in the inherit, the just all go to x:0 y:0 z:0 once the linear field touches them, do you have an idea why that could be?
Okay, to be honest I'm not really sure what I did differently but now it's working. I played around a bit with the order of clicking the fracture start and fracture end, and the sequence of the "inheritance / fracture start / fracture end" objects, and somehow it worked. Mabe this can help someone struggling with same thing.
thanks... I think your recording resolution is 4k. I'm having trouble seeing text on a 1080p monitor. Most of them on youtube are using 1080p, I would be very happy if you record in 1080p compatible.
Wow great stuff, I'm going to download the model and follow along. Just wondering if you can animate the individual screws rotating out of their position? Thank you for the great tutorial! 🔥
Hi, thanks for the feedback, yes you could totaly animate the screw rotation, the idea would be to Key frame the animation of the screw then you could place the screws using a cloner to clone onto the faces of an hidden object, set the animation mode to fixed, then trigger the animation using a plain effector
This is amazing! But in the model I have ( a lego model), all the parts are built from unconnected sections (i.e. stids, faces, etc.) so the parts them selves are exploding! An quick way to limit the fracture to an oject-level explosion?
Hey, thanks! I'm not sure I understand completely. Are you saying each part is a group of objects, and you want them to stay together? If that's the case, you could group them under a null so the fracture treats them as a single object.
Hey Gilles - this is fantastic. I searched the comments but didn't see anything about how to convert the measurements to feet / inches. Can you let me know how do that?
Hi! I believe the simplest method is to make the conversion directly in the Expresso tag. Look for the distance node, then add a math node after it, and set it to divide. Since the result is calculated in centimeters, you can divide it by 2.54 for inches or by 30.48 for feet. I hope this helps!
hi I am trying to apply a single material for the different parts by varying its color with the Color user data node, but when I apply Fracture, the color doesn't show up as it should be.... :( do you have any idea how to solve this? and thank you for your video!!
Hi, thanks for your feedback. Could you provide more details about the steps you're taking, what the final outcome should look like, and why you believe the result is incorrect?
Bonjour Giles, merci beaucoup. Really great tutorial. Do you have any suggestions for how to make the fracture object not change the color of the objects it's effecting? I'm probably missing something obvious.
Thanks Bruce, are you using a fracture or a voronoi fracture? the basic fracture shouldn't change the color of the object , if you are using a voronoi, in the object tab you can uncheck colorize fragments, if you are using a plain effector with fields the color comes from the effector, you can select it , then in the parameter tab go to color mode and set it to off, hope this helps !

As su une solution ?
Yes when you switch to explode segments, the fracture does calculations to consider each part of the object, depending of the object and your computer specs this may crash the program
