- OpenAI Sora was recently announced and today, we're taking a look at the capabilities and also results from some of its tests. Sora produces up to a minute long videos from text prompts. OpenAI has only released it to a select group of people during this stage until they release it to the public.
Text-to-video AI has truly gone a long way. OpenAI Sora has just taken it to the never level if what we're seeing is what we can produce from using its technology.

Brilliant. The fact that a video can be up to 1-minute is amazing. The smooth actions in the videos you showed are outstanding. It will only get better. Go Sora!
This is the start and hopefully the feedback given from the invited group members can further develop it even better.
While this is relatively astonishing, I think that there's something else that's pretty amazing -- and it's about our brains. When watching the example video of the woman walking, your brain just knows that something is "off", but maybe you can't quite figure out what it is. Watch the video again, but pay close attention to the pace of the woman's feet (as well as the feet of the background characters) relative to the rate that the ground underneath the feet appears to be moving. They are ever so slightly different, as if the feet are gliding or slipping just a little bit on certain steps. The ability of our brains to unconsciously "catch" this without us being directly aware of it is amazing.
The small saccade movements in the iris in the second video are amazingly realistic.

I’m interested in the next chapter of AI generated video & photos…public reaction. Those of us who are in the marketing/media space appreciate what we’re seeing here. I want to know how the public - as a whole - will react when they realize a majority of what they think is real…is an AI generated illusion. A Marvel movie with special effects is one thing, but…the public might not be so forgiving when they aren’t able to discern what’s real. When looked at from a psychological point of view, I think widespread use of AI generated images & video will have a negative effect on people’s sense normalcy or balance. I hope that makes sense. I predict there could (eventually) be a push back from the public.

Sora means image in arabic, that’s a very appropriate name
It also means “Sky” in Japanese, which is cool.
It's mind-blowing and has great creative possibilities BUT there's potential for great harm here ultimately, humans being what they are. 😕

It doesn't matter what they show till people get my hands on it
They are going to be making it available to those stated groups but there probably would be some non-disclosure for all we know. and if what we’re seeing based on the examples were truly generated by Sora, then that would be incredible.
