- On National Train Day 2024, the Johnson City Railroad Experience (formerly George L Carter Railroad Museum) ran a special Rail and Sail charter on the Three Rivers Rambler. Chattanooga Traction Company 4 and Knoxville & Houston River 2391 lead the train from downtown Knoxville along the Tennessee River to its head at the confluence of the French Broad and Holston Rivers. After returning to town, the passengers embarked on the Star of Knoxville riverboat for a lunch cruise down the river. While the Rambler used to offer year round steam and diesel excursions many years ago, these days special charters like this are the only opportunity to see and ride the train outside of Christmas, so I just had to make an effort and I had a good time chasing, despite an event blocking the McWherter Park shot and some very loud trucks at the bridge.
Great video and I myself do agree on how rare this is seeing how since the late 2010s Three river rambles is only operating during Christmas. Apart of myself wonders just why seeing how they ran excursions much throughout the year in the past.
Great catches awesome chase capture and nice video
How come they’re only doing Christmas excursions and charter trips now? Did insurance get too expensive?
on 200 steam Locomotives would the NyC Hudsons be in there,
I GOT AN IDEA.
Where’s all the steam trains

you and me both
Crew availability due to hours of service as the crews on the engines are all employed and work full time for the Knoxville & Holston River RR who runs freight on the line. So it takes a crew away or prevents them from being able to run revenue freight.
@@choochoo742 dang
