You all have a very selective memory. She also treated him very well as well and he STILL didn’t change. His refusal to ever let down his mask meant that she never really knew how he actually felt. She eventually started acting out just to get ANY emotion from him. He fucked things up as well. There are plenty of cold FMCs the get dogged on just for not showing emotion, he deserves the same scolding.

This story was would be best if it ended in a good way. What Emily did was out of misconception. She loved MC secretly but failed to show it cause of previous betryals and miscommunication. She thought MC didn't love her and he was aiming at her wealth and family. But all along MC was deeply in love with her and all he did was for her sake. He was improving himself to be with her to stand beside her but she thought it was only because he wanted power and wealth. On the other hand she was doing all nasty things to make MC jealous but he didn't get jealous. He thought she never loved him and doing those things to get away from him. Both of them are at wrong but what Emily did wasn't good. She could have done something else but she choose cheating as a way to make MC love her.
Edward was not wrong at all. He never trauma dumped into Emily, like she did. He never intentionally hurt her, unlike what she did. They were too broken to express their feelings, but the way they cope is entirely different. On the "good ending" side, it's kept in the air as a possibility. But i wouldn't like that. She's not what Edward needs to move forward.
mc showed the best way to deal with it i mean when you have a girl like that saying it was a game she never loved him played around with other men while talking trash to him like yea you can't expect the guy to magically show feelings for a girl who does that i mean the mc dealt with everything alone for so many years she dumped him 5 years ago in there early relationship and never truly tried to soften his heart and she herself said he did things like crying alone and suffering alone without anyone seeing i mean mc lost his only family lived in someone else's family and he knows acting out can get him kicked out so the only thing he can think of is to endure and get better so his actions seem justified
MC fucked up too, because even when she treated him with love and kindness he STILL didn’t show any emotion or affection. His constant cold demeanor and refusal to ever engage only made things worse and make her start acting out to get him to show ANY emotion.

Overcoming it takes time and effort, and some people might never fully let go of their painful past. The best we can expect is to not hurt others in the meanwhile. The short answer is, if she felt he didn't love her, why hurt him? What would be the end goal of doing that? If the only feelings he has for you is hate and resentment, is that really better than indifference?
the grandpa might seem like a villain in the early-mid story, but man he actually was protecting emily by not revealing the truth so she wouldn't be hurt and had all that vent up anger went toward to him. Also if Edward was more open up about his feeling for Emily thing could of changed since he kept it tight lipped. And ya the thing Emily did was also fk up especially with how she back stab Edward in highschool, that when thing kinda spiral out of controlled.
I do think it was a mistake though. If her grandfather had been open with her she would not have been so antagonistic and things would have been a lot better for everyone involved. I feel like the moral here is to not keep things so close to the chest and hide so much from your loved ones.

All of the characters never fully understood the other characters actions or intentions. Some is black and white and some is grey. Only at the end of the story do we get the full picture behind all the characters actions. Which I don't agree with most of their actions. The only person to fully understand everything was the FMC which came at a great cost. She literally lost everybody whether by her hand or their own. And she still never told the MC after learning everything and decided to just wait for him to come back to her. That is miscommunication.

It’s because he never reciprocated emotionally. So she acted out and got back with the guy just to see if he could show ANYTHING.
