Easier said than done. In today's economy, many families will find it very difficult to stay afloat without both parents working. Giving phones to your children to keep them engaged is almost...unavoidable. Though I'm also against this practice, Idk any other choice.
Since it's not Genshin fault, let's just hope they'll do something about this. Also parents shouldn't let kids to know where their money are. Many kids uses it without knowing the consequences (yeah I have seen some of them irl)
With the trackrecord that hoyoverse has, I'm pretty sure that they will be more than willing to provide much needed help to those who are affected by this.
It's not the Genshin devs' fault but they should at least try to do something about this. 3000 dollars should be nothing for them. Unfortunately, the Genshin devs are known for not listening to people.
he didn't know such thing, it's s bank transaction, which mean he somehow get access to his parent's card. probably because he played at his mother phone. he thought its a free primogems. there's already a lot of case where kids using their parents card because its somehow already linked there
Not thinking critically while making those horrible decisions. That's how..... I reckon this kid never had to worry about his own personal financial living. Not his hard earned 💰 so he decided to foolishly spend it all away.
Worry not, 🇨🇳's XiJinPing is surely on his way to solve this current critical issue at hand. His profound wisdom and unmatched intellect will surely be of great help. It's said that his cognitive power is even higher than that of Albert Einstein.
This is a 12-13 year old kid I don't think they understand much, heck at that age they probably would've thought she would be fine and everything works out since at that point of life everything seems to but you don't really know what happens in the background. That being said he definitely needs to receive some punishment because if he doesn't learn soon who's to say someday down the line if he's still playing genshin or any other gacha game that he doesn't waste so much he loses his house, if he even manages to save up enough for a house that is.
This is why I only as a f2p, whether it be Sword of Convallaria, PGR, WuWa, or HSR, I ain't wasting a single penny. Grinding can be fun if you have patience.
Yeah, in my *personal opinion* this is not hoyo's fault. Its so horrible that the kid did that and risked his sisters life, and its even worse that the parents allowed it to happen But it would be nice to see hoyo refund them or at least help them, even if they arent at fault
Fairly silly take. It’s not their fault but it is their problem as ignoring this will damage their reputation while showing empathy would improve it. In a business sense this is an issue for them. Would be a cheap one though. Low cost and some kudos
@@clorinde69 terrible take. Do you blame old people for getting scammed? They have a sick child at home and have to work 10+ hours, cut them some slack and those parents look fairly old. They probably don't know how technology works.
@ Actually i do blame them yeah. But on this case hoyo isn’t a scammer. They are a video game company providing a free game that can be completed all f2p. It’s the failure of the parents for letting their kids have access to their credit cards and other sources of money for the kid to spend it all so easily. Children in general shouldn’t even be allowed to play online games unsupervised by a guardian
For anyone trying to excuse the boy by saying "Oh he's 12" I played at 12. I never spent my parents money. This is an issue with discipline. My mother made it clear that I am never to touch her cards unless explicitly handed them, and that I must ask for her approval before spending money. I have my own card now, which for larger purchases, I still need to ask her. This is an issue of the parents not outlining the importance of this money to this child. I'd say ban the kids account for 100 months, AKA, 8 years, because that's the 1000 he wasted transferred 1:1 into months, moved right by a place value because 83 years is a bit excessive for a ban.
Remember, if you play Genshin like crazy, then you are not a kid anymore. That game, even for me is hard especially it's not about basic games. It's a freaking RPG game T.T
My heart goes out to the family but... how is Hoyoverse' fault or responsibility? Hoyoverse already plastered a warning everywhere in their store and top-ups to spend responsibly. Iirc, China also has strict rules when it comes to gacha and gaming in general. The parents should also be more responsible for their child. How did the kid even get a hold of their bank account in the first place? Aren't there codes and passwords for that? Also, they can, in fact, refund the money if they wanted to. The boy will be in debt in Genshin tho even if they did spend it already on characters (and possibly banned if he doesn't pay it off on time). However, if they used third party methods to top-up then... That's a different story.
@@nicholasxamotainiumgilgamesh on the spending list looks like direct payment to shanghai mihoyo, so at most the family can charge back, but that kid acc would be fk.
But I wonder if they said the game he top up was Genshin🤔 Update: I went to check chinese resources and it only said MiHoYo but not Genshin. i don't know which game. Also according to the report I watched, all the money has been refunded.
I mean this is tragic, but it's not Hoyo's problem. They got their money in legal way. It was parents duty to monitor that their son won't have access to their money. I didn't have access to my bank accounts till I turned 17. If you don't trust your children with money don't let them see you use bank accounts. They are fast learners and they figure it out very quickly by just watching you do it. I don't think Hoyo will care. It's not their business to warn minors not to spend money on their games. It's a lesson for both parents and their son. I hope they'll get a permit to get a program in charity
Except it is your business if your game is targeted towards children, to take safety measures. Being able to just tap a button once and lose 3000$ like that surely isn't legal, when most of your playerbase are children. You know what happens when other games targeted towards children encounter such issues? Like Roblox? And I say this from experience: they refund you in less than a week after you explain your situation and show some receipts, and then ban the kid's account. This is like saying "well it's not a coffee shop business to warn their clients that coffee is hot" except it is. Yes, you have to be stupid to not know that, but there are people out there that do not know that, and will get hurt. That's why everywhere you get coffee, you have "WARNING, HOT PRODUCT" or something similar written somewhere on the cup/elsewhere. Because what stops companies from giving out warnings? If it's just "oh, common sense, it's your fault you didn't know it" they can take it as far as they want, with thousands dying and you justifying it. Hope those boots taste incredible for you to chew on them like that
@thejonrezcontent5213 "legal loophole" is not even the right term Would you seriously consider it a loophole if a kid stole from his parents to buy a toy from a store? Why should the store be held responsible for the kid's actions, there's not a single loophole here it's the kid's fault not hoyo, all hoyo can do is refund the money but the kid is the one who's responsible not hoyoverse, and by definition a loophole is a way to evade an obligation or contract without breaking the law, tell me how did they evade the TOS or scam anyone?.
that kid needs serious discipline for this, I mean really ? money for game over your own sister health ? this is why parents should not buy phone for kids at a early age unless they want to see them getting addicted too much, and that kid needs to be punish
Kid probably doesn't have much awareness in this situation (*maybe*), so it isn't necessarily "I pick gambling over sister's health"; however, still a terrible thing considering how he managed to somehow spend so much money in the game. Especially terrible if the kid wasn't given that access by the parents and he took the money himself since that would now be theft
Everyone’s saying that the family is blaming Hoyo, but that’s not really the case. They’re reaching out to ask for help if there’s something that could be done.. But entirely to me, is the kids fault and sense of responsibility. I’m pretty sure the boy knew that his little sister had a poor, frail heart and everything, but still decided to do that anyway thinking there was gonna be no consequence.. My heart goes out to that girl and that family. I pray for them to reach that money to help her heart.
My dad pummel me if i were to top up today for 1 dollar. If i were to do what that kid do, my grandparents would've woken up from the grave to beat me up
It's not hoyo's fault at all, though, and they don't actually have to do anything.. if nothing else, let's keep this as a cautionary tale for future parents, and don't let kids have phones, especially with zero monitoring or parental controls. I do hope they get some refund just cus this is awful, and I hope the family will be ok
Little bro thinks he's Jeff bezos son 💀💀💀. Like what was bro thinking? Imagine spending away all your family life savings on some fictional characters. That's just pure madness 😱😱😱
I'm just wondering one thing like how tf kids know bank details and password/pin for account lol to transfer online 💀🙄 Guess even now parents lack some awareness of parental controls, at least not give them password or pin if they are giving their own phone or set up some control methods 😢
@@gachawings I was a dumb kid 2 and I dont know if it still works but as a 13 year old with a phone I could buy stuff in a pirate game by sending texts. My parents found out called the bank and refunded it which bricked my account which is fair enough XD I also got my ass cheecks clapped for the mistake which was fair enough. A lesson was learned by me and what to look out for if I get children
@@ryuta_ch. Not really, this is really just one big lesson for the kid, and a good reminder for the parents to discipline their children. If the kid has any sense of how much pain their family is going through, how much pain his sister is in, then he probably would just reflect on his actions.
not really, they are already out of the situation, they were never in the situation. it would a nice thing to do, and good pr, but they are under no obligation to do anything. they could literally just do nothing and it be completely fine.
Considering the severity of this case and how much attention it's receiving, I think it's best to refund the family and permanently ban the son's account. It would be good PR and possibly prevent situations like this from happening, as long as the family keep an eye on the son ofc My opinion tho
This is a very special and sad case. ...but sadly, "accidentally spending too much money on games" is *not* the worst thing that could happen when you give phones to minors. The world is fkd up man
Uhhh… Companies aren’t in control of their customers or the consumers of their products. Kids included. I feel for this family but companies can’t control every single child playing their games. It’s your duty to monitor your kids. That’s just reality man. Either way, I hope that they get the money back somehow.
@@patata4799You can refund any purchases made in the game, but you will be in debt, even if you spent them already. You can and will be banned if you don't pay it off. I believe the money for this incident has been refunded already.
Well what was the terms of peyment of 14 day charge back can be issued via bank or payments option platform. Then rest go social media ask for help tell them to process charge back
My position on what Hoyo *could* (but not obligated) do: Don't refund, rather make a private donation to a trust fund for the daughter's medication on the amount that was spend. Next, talk to the parents to have their consent to ban the account for a period that is the difference of their son's age and 16 (so if son is 10 years old, ban the account for 16-10 = 6 years).
permaban imo, i think he should restart from the bottom purely f2p to make sure he doesnt feel the NEED to spend. Or if he does pay, at least he knows the value of money by then... hopefully.
Sorry but im on Hoyo's side here they refuse to care because it's literally NOT THEIR PROBLEM Its not THEIR fault that the boy had the audacity to take the money that was meant for someone else's treatment, that is the parents fault for not only allowing it to get this bad, but they didnt keep the money where the kid wont take find it it doesnt matter how much you love your family, if you have a lot of money just stashed somewhere, someone in that family that you care about is gonna take it whether you like it or not - you have no idea how such a 180 turn can just happen when money's involved
Sorry but I’m on the girl’s side here. it doesn’t matter who is at fault. what’s been done is done. but saving the girl’s life is more important NOW. I know it’s not Hoyoverse’s problem, but a $3000 refund is nothing but dust to them. Are you really gonna protect the revenue of Hoyoverse over the life of a child? so basically what you’re saying is it’s ok to let the girl die.
@@skyhart9926counter argument - the money is already refunded. Mihoyo is always open to refunds but if you don't pay the money back then they will just ban the account. So the only harm done will be to the game account. Now, if he used a 3rd party software to buy the gems, that's a different case, mihoyo can't refund you if you don't use their own website to pay
Now I know why China roll out internet gaming strict laws for those under 13 age. Kids don't have fully awareness abt using money. I remember that when the strict roll out few years ago, a lot of people mad abt china that china too strict for children playing internet and destroy children freedom.
And the freedom that the people say was taken away it's for the best cuz they didn't know how easily the children will be addicted and have bad behavior if playing game too much yes 😂
Here is the thing! Government are attempting to control society, which will end up bad. We need laws but we also need boundaries. This one isn’t a government job but parents’ job. If parents don’t do their job, then don’t blame anyone. It is essentially their own consequence. Also I’m pretty sure 80% of kids aren’t like this. It is like throwing away a bag of apple just because 3 of them in the bag are rotten.
What about all the well behaved ones? Why forcefully take those freedoms away from them while many of them are not at fault? Collective punishment sucks......
@@SophieGirl2001You want your government to regulate your speech? Aren't all the Anglo Saxon countries all about freedom? This bill worries me to no end 😅
As someone from Aussie, it's really not as good as it seems. It's just an excuse to impose digital ID, and children still have access to games and platforms like youtube anyway. You're also disregarding all the positives that access to social media brings as well despite the negatives. This is a very special scenario that puts equal blame on the parent and child. Try not to generalise.
"Genshin refuses to care" well, i dont see why they should... its not their responsibility. At the end of the day 🤷🏻♀️ my heart goes out to the little girl who needs medical treatment, but this is their responsibility.
Funny how you anti-corpo internet activists are all about shilling when it comes to your favorite corpo. I bet you hate Elon Musk because "rich white dude" am i right?
I heard of this case from Singapore a few years ago. These kids aren't aware of what they spent. Don't they realise that the characters they get are virtual and that there is no way of saving them once Genshin closes its doors? (Touch wood)
This is not singapores case (Also they said CHINA. Singapore is not in china). Singapores case was an 18 year old accummulating 20000 USD of debt on her dads credit card on genshin. Regardless, its ridiculous. These kids (can I even call the 18 year old that) probably havent stepped into the working force yet to realise how many hours of work money theyre throwing. The only case that Im ok w people spending on gacha games is when theyre adults w money to spare and even so, going to the extent of whaling for characters is ridiculous to me. Unless theyre a content creator or smth theres literally no reason to be fussy and want a c6 character immediately. Most gachas arent even ranked so its literally just the short term gratification that theyre looking for
As much as crucial this issue affects hoyo and need their further response, I think this kind of issue is rather more about lack of morals in the society. Rather than blaming a company, parents should teach their children to exercise self control, not just in-game but what kind of media they consume. Because without guidance, child become unawareness of what they doing, might cause harmful impact towards both themselves and other peoples.
Hoyo doesn't need to respond, it's pure family matters that is not hoyo's fault. If given one refund to this family, more refunds will have to be given cuz similar issues will come up to the surface and bite hoyo in the face. @@zennaonthez Depending on the platform, unless the kid spent the crystals they could refund. Hi 👋 do you have a source for this? Both my bf and I have scoured the net and we can't find a single news story regarding this sick little girl and her brother spending the medical money. If this was such a viral story then why can't we find an article about it? Secondly if you are a Chinese citizen then medical treatments such as the one described in this video are covered by state insurance so the family would never have had to pay if they lived in the cities. If it was rural they have a cooperative system I don't fully understand but again, the costs are not fully on the family of the suffering child, not in a way that a child spending money on genshin would cause. Could you post a source please because atm this is just misinformation.

This happens so often. Parents should not make it so easy for kids to access things that are connected to their bank accounts. I highly doubt Hoyo will do something and especially since they legally don't have to.😞 I really hope they will though.🙏🏾
This isn't Genshins fault at all, while a refund would be only a good thing they aren't completely liable due to the parents negligence in monitoring the boy and what he does on his phone
This can be said to be a lesson for the family for being too careless in letting children use the phone, partly the fault also comes from the boy who top-up a large amount of money without asking his parents We have an example of the harmful effects of lack of attention to children and too lax protection of bank accounts
So this kid thinks whaling for a stupid fictional character is more important than their siblings medical treatment they deserve a very very huge punishment for that
Well the question is.. if that boy really spent his mother money in genshin.. or they just acting because they need money.. is there no chuld insurance in china? Like 80% deducted bills in any hospital? We here in japan 0~4 years old almost free in hospital ,medicine etc.. insurance will cover up all.. till 4 years old.. 80% less if getting older.. last is 25% or 50% deduction depend on situation in adult..
I think there’s a customer service line for Genshin, the link to it was on the Genshin top up page. If the family has contacted that then Genshin is probably aware of the situation
this is a joke. why would hoyo refund or do something just for empathy? in the first place you cannot top up something if the kid don't know the account number. this is entirely a kid's fault. maybe this uploader should donate for "empathy"
I think for this scenario genshin should refund money atleast 50% or 25% money spend from that account. I hope boy learn some value for money by time given look around surrounding first priority comes to look after family, then your health and career and then siddle hassle of entertainment don't get fully indulged with idiocy games.
@gaerekxenos I mean parents wouldn't even allow to even touch his phone to play the game by now from that incident so there is no need for it. More important situation to be sorted is sister medical treatment to afford so banning account won't make viable rather atleast helping medical treatment some or getting refund spend on it makes their family situation somewhat stable for now.
I spoke to my mom about this and we both think it’s not Hoyo’s fault that this kid decided to sacrifice his sister for a 5*, I’ll admit, the situation did make me tear up because the sister is only a child but the brother shouldn’t have this much access.
Exactly. Kids have no idea their actions can actually lead to bad consequences. You only know something is bad when you either 1: Go through it and learn by the consequences, or 2: Have someone teaching you that it's bad. So the kid just lack proper parenting. You never give a gun to a kid and expect him to not hurt someone or himself.
Looong ass rant ahead about certain parts of this comment section because I hate extreme generalisation and people who dont realise the heavy hypocrisy behind it if they dont first account other factors I see so much generalisation in the comments of why the child shouldnt have a phone, and i find the lack of self-awareness horrendous. I dont know this family's full situation or what they are like as people. But it goes without saying that most children aren't like this, and most parents place more security on bank accounts or give children separate ones, it's also almost entirely the parent's fault for giving child access to the account or a phone with the account, and for not teaching the child about money spending because schools likely wouldnt teach that yet. If we apply the same level of generalisation, then if a video pops up about an adult crashing a car and killing a family in the process, does that make it right for someone to shout "THIS IS WHY ADULTS SHOULDNT DRIVE/HAVE CARS!", no it's not, it's a gross generalisation and just one example that can happen regardless of how common. Furthermore, what if in that situation, you replace the child with an adult who let's say has the mental development of a child of that age, the reaction would definitely be different, and no fingers will be pointed as to why phones shouldnt be allowed for adults. Even in another scenario, obviously, a regular adult would know the consequences, and the child likely wouldn't, but everyone in the comments are acting like the child does, so I'll apply the same logic to the adult, and in the opposite situation, then we can just simply say thay the adult was unaware what the money was going to, and wanted to top up heavily for a character they liked, hence the purchases. And finally, what does children having phones got to do with this?? People here are acting like all children that use phones will put their sisters in an immediate risk of death and that phones are the entire reason why situations like this happens. That way of thinking is too one-dimensional. This situation puts equal blame on both the parents and the child, try not to generalise to this degree. Personally, I think that Hoyo should permanently ban the child's account and all emails associated with it and offer a full refund if possible. Hopefully, the parents can monitor/teach their child better, and the child gets some form of punishment that isnt extreme physical harm. Hoyo is in no way responsible for what happened here with the irresponsible parenting and the ignorance of the child, but if they did something about it, then that would be excellent and easy PR for them. Also, this is less the phone's fault and more the fault of how easily accessible such an important credit card was, whether physical or digital. Isn’t there a security code for your card as well that you need to put in before you purchase any amount of primos? So the child had to have gotten his hands on it somehow. I mean... Hoyo can revert back the account back to before the payment was made. With the cost of having the server to gone under maintenance for several hours up to few weeks to find the uid across all server. Risking even more money lost or even closing down caused by many players will go play with other games. So, they can try to refund but the family still need to make sure how the son made the payment and provide way for the refund
They don't need to go *that* far if they are able to get the account data/payment information. Unless the system is terribly set up, they shouldn't need to take servers down at all just to scrub through payment information
@@gaerekxenos they don't have to shut down all server. The data are stored in a database which maybe separated from the server. But, this solution usually applied to the worse level of any cases, which not really common and usually made from internal mismanagement or bug in the payment handling code from the uses of third party or unauthorized market. So, possibility is there but they still have to wait for the family to make the refund request
HoYoverse wasn't a fault for the family issue. Parents shouldn't be gifted to toxic devices with their kids. 😱😱 Remember, parents should advise to kids when playing *"freemium"* games like this one and should not give devices to the kids as it leads to atrocious scenario. 😵😵
Here the thing, china has strict rules regarding gacha games, minors are not allowed to play more than 2 - 3 hours a day and that is restricted by programming. Players are requested to make an account using theor ID meaning minors under the age of 18 can never spend money on the game or play over 3 hours each day. Ofcourse it can be easily worked round by using older siblings or parents ID. And for this case to happen the boy must have created an account using his mums ID and in order to use her bank details. But the weird thing is that i know how vigilant banks in china can be, so am not sure why after a couple of transactions the bank didnt flag it and send notifications to the parent. I know this because i studied over seas and for me to use my bank card even just spending as little as 50 bucks my bank will flag it. And sent me notifications as an irregular spending. So for someone with a bank account with regular savings with only and next to no regular large spending on the account, those genshin transactions should have been flagged by the bank immediately before anymore money goes out. Even now when i topup in game if i do too many of similar amount in a day my bank will stop allowing me to buy more as a security messure and i will have to personally call the bank to let them know i am the one using that money to confirm my card or personal details have not been stolen by someone and sbused before i am allowed access to the funds again for any in-app purchase.
In India such scenarios occur from time to time I don't think any sort of responsibility should be held by Hoyoverse Lack of discipline and restricted use of phone is necessary for the kids Another thing why any sort of banking service should be tied with Google Play services, it indicates that the parents lack the knowledge of technology That's why this kind of blunder happens
Well in china, there are restrictions for playing games such as game time and how the kids will spend their money. This means that the rules are still able to bypassed maybe by sharing accounts, using other person id or playing with parents account.
I'd say this is a fantastic opportunity for Hoyo to boost their reputation, Just providing a refund of spent amount to the family is a great gesture, especially considering how small the amount is for a company like Hoyoverse. One simple refund can get alot of media attention for Hoyo, even if seen from a purely business perspective, giving a refund is the best choice. If Hoyo has a great business advisor, they should advise the company to issue refund. But then again, maybe its "Deal with it bro" mentality in china.
It not hoyo's fault but i hope they will help the family, also the parents should be a bit more careful yeah, but this boy was OLD ENOUGH TO KNOW IT'S BAD TO DO TO THAT especially when knowing his sister was sick !
To be honest, i wonder how he did it? Since if it’s like mobile payment methods.. there would be the need to know a pin to a credit card, etc and address..
You put your wallet on the phone. Or even simpler you put your cc info on Play Store and buy away. If the boy knows the password then he can buy whatever.

I saw a comment the money spent were refunded but if I were on genshin management I would've refunded it then ban the account. This kid needs to be taught a lesson
Genshin is not only not entirely responsible for this incident, they are not responsible at all. It is entirely the kid and his parent’s fault, since he clearly had access to their credit card and knew their passwords which you aren’t supposed to tell anyone, especially not your immature selfish kid who will monkey brain and spend your entire life savings for short term gratification, and the kid is slightly responsible for disregarding the needs of his family. The parents are most at fault however, because the kid is immature, and 99% of children can’t be trusted with large amounts of money, so he can’t really take the majority of the blame. I know it sounds like I’m beating down on the poor family who now has no money and still have a probably dying child, but in reality, the blame can only be shared between the parents and the kid, and the majority of the blame falls on the parents for giving their child access to all of their money
I see lots of people saying it is because he is 13yo, that he doesn't know what he is doing, etc., and, as a 13yo, I have to say that I AM aware of what the responsabilities of wasting money are. My mom always told me about it, I've NEVER spend money without her Permission or use her money, I always use my own savings. We could say that this ISN'T Hoyoverse's fault. It is from the kid and parents because they never told him about this kind of problems.

Children in general shouldn’t even be allowed to play online games unsupervised by a guardian
For anyone trying to excuse the boy by saying "Oh he's 12"
I played at 12.

How did the kid even get a hold of their bank account in the first place? Aren't there codes and passwords for that?

I mean this is tragic, but it's not Hoyo's problem. They got their money in legal way. It was parents duty to monitor that their son won't have access to their money. I didn't have access to my bank accounts till I turned 17. If you don't trust your children with money don't let them see you use bank accounts. They are fast learners and they figure it out very quickly by just watching you do it. I don't think Hoyo will care. It's not their business to warn minors not to spend money on their games. It's a lesson for both parents and their son. I hope they'll get a permit to get a program in charity
Yeah a legal loophole.

Kid issue and parents issue, not hoyos
Danmm... That's so sad 😭😭😔😔
We should report such a tragic case to the CCP immediately. It's really not that hard to help out this little girl.
I have a younger sister who has been given a smartphone since the covid pandemic to study at home when she was in elementary school and she still uses it until now, but I always watch her or ask her what she watches when she uses her phone.

That's horrible. But looking at it from a stand point, Hoyo isn't at fault. The parent should've added password or safety on the phone.
ok. and then what? let the sister die?
Kids that are younger than me somehow already know to use a credit card and buy game purchases, while I dont know how to.I only know how to use money online when buying stuff from store apps, and the allowance my parents gave,as my payments when buying online.I can't tell if it's either bad that I still don't know how credit or debit cards work, buying in-game purchases or is it good that i never learned how to use one as a child growing up (currently 15).
Nah, 100% the boy and family issue :/ Hoyo is not responsible and doesn't have any obligation to simphatize

This isn't Genshins fault at all, while a refund would be only a good thing they aren't completely liable due to the parents negligence in monitoring the boy and what he does on his phone
I have a timer in my tablet😅😅😅
This can be said to be a lesson for the family for being too careless in letting children use the phone, partly the fault also comes from the boy who top-up a large amount of money without asking his parents
We have an example of the harmful effects of lack of attention to children and too lax protection of bank accounts
I believe that kids can have a phone but the parents shouldn’t let kids have access with the bank unless they know the risk of who they can sacrifice

Thats pretty cruel.
Still yeah refund very possible
this is a joke. why would hoyo refund or do something just for empathy? in the first place you cannot top up something if the kid don't know the account number. this is entirely a kid's fault. maybe this uploader should donate for "empathy"
I think for this scenario genshin should refund money atleast 50% or 25% money spend from that account. I hope boy learn some value for money by time given look around surrounding first priority comes to look after family, then your health and career and then siddle hassle of entertainment don't get fully indulged with idiocy games.
Naw. Ban the account for some period of time, put a negative balance for withdrawing that much from the account, refund all the money spent
That kid seriously need to a learn big lesson.
Looong ass rant ahead about certain parts of this comment section because I hate extreme generalisation and people who dont realise the heavy hypocrisy behind it if they dont first account other factors
I see so much generalisation in the comments of why the child shouldnt have a phone, and i find the lack of self-awareness horrendous.
Gonna have cut this rant short even if i have a bunch more I want to yap about

I'm not sure about china but I know in canada you can force a refund from the bank claiming it was not a purchase made by you. This will cause genshin to delete the account though if the primos go into the negative (which they presumably will)
Genshin has nothing to do with this, its horrible parenting pampering their children as usual and now it come back to hurt them, may cost a life, Genshin done nothing wrong, its the parents and the child.
My 13 year old cousin did the same thing with fortnite a few years back. He stole his grandparents credit card and charged 4000 USD on it for V-bucks. They where not able to get the money back and my brother was only able sell the account for a few hundred to help them get back some of the money.

it may look heartless but it very hard situation to deal with. first of all case like this suprisingly not rare, if mihoyo help them now there might be the case of other demand same treatment even if they were not in same dire situasion, 'refund' is not as easy as people thing specially in live service game, if they has yet use the hard currency there might be salvageable but if he already use it then it will he complicated, if genshin ban him, there might be case other use such case to demand that they can banned account just like that, it mean they need create another system to do so.
Don't give your children your pin number.
Nor a device that remembers it
And don't disable double checks on transactions because they are such a hassle.
Unless the system is terribly set up, they shouldn't need to take servers down at all just to scrub through payment information
tbh the parents should reach out customer service, it would be easier to know which acc was affected for Hoyo to take proper actions.

Remember, parents should advise to kids when playing *"freemium"* games like this one and should not give devices to the kids as it leads to atrocious scenario. 😵😵
The governement should pay for that, because Genshin wasn't at fault and that boy... he's gonna have a bad time...
well its not exactly genshin's fault, its the boy's. obviously if they get the news they could very much elp, but its the boy's fault
Hopefully they do something cause this situation is very serious
They won’t not their problem and they don’t need to
Knowing Hoyo, they might do something about it if the news become big enough.
This is why it's important to know our kids & what they do/play

In India such scenarios occur from time to time
I don't think any sort of responsibility should be held by Hoyoverse
Lack of discipline and restricted use of phone is necessary for the kids
Another thing why any sort of banking service should be tied with Google Play services, it indicates that the parents lack the knowledge of technology
That's why this kind of blunder happens
Well in china, there are restrictions for playing games such as game time and how the kids will spend their money. This means that the rules are still able to bypassed maybe by sharing accounts, using other person id or playing with parents account.
I'd say this is a fantastic opportunity for Hoyo to boost their reputation,
Just providing a refund of spent amount to the family is a great gesture, especially considering how small the amount is for a company like Hoyoverse.
One simple refund can get alot of media attention for Hoyo, even if seen from a purely business perspective, giving a refund is the best choice.
If Hoyo has a great business advisor, they should advise the company to issue refund.
But then again, maybe its "Deal with it bro" mentality in china.
It not hoyo's fault but i hope they will help the family, also the parents should be a bit more careful yeah, but this boy was OLD ENOUGH TO KNOW IT'S BAD TO DO TO THAT especially when knowing his sister was sick !
why would the child do that.. that’s his SISTER.
Mostly he found a note of written pin code and passwords.
Common mistake adults do it. Writting in a note of credit card info and password to accses.

Fr. The parents are at fault cuz who gives their child a bank acc password?
I see lots of people saying it is because he is 13yo, that he doesn't know what he is doing, etc., and, as a 13yo, I have to say that I AM aware of what the responsabilities of wasting money are.
