      @@peterinbrat man's history is dotted by learning plateaus. It seems our nature is to grow and learn in spurts, then relax or even decline for a bit. Any new thought that might advance society is often seen with skepticism or repressed in order to maintain the status quo (especially money flow). The best we can hope is to live in interesting times 🙏💕

      @@peterinbrat there's no telling if we're on a plateau of technology. The same rate could have developed cars 1000 years ago were it not for the world monarchs and those who thirsted for their power.

    The Kardeshev scale assumes humanity has an unending need for energy, but achieving Level 7 on the Barrow scale would obviate the need to use solar systems themselves as energy sources.

    By the way, according to the law of conservation of energy, at least as much energy must be invested in the production of antimatter as can be extracted.

    If you could kardashev the controlled harnessing of Hawking radiation coming out of a black hole, what would that do?
    Would that make dark matter as a byproduct?
    Completely wild theory.

    • @InsaneCuriosity
      @InsaneCuriosity  День тому

      Thanks for sharing your thoughts! Harnessing it for energy would be incredibly difficult, as the radiation is weak and requires being near a black hole. For creating dark matter as a byproduct, that’s an area of active research, but scientists don’t currently have evidence that any energy processes, like Hawking radiation, directly create dark matter.

    • @jackovoltraids5937
      @jackovoltraids5937 День тому

      @InsaneCuriosity Hypothetical: What would happen to a black hole with its hawking radiation reflected back on itself? Like a Dyson sphere.
      Would harnessing gravity or said radiation (like would be easily accomplished on the surface of a black hole encompassing Dyson sphere) be a more efficient environment than a Dyson sphere with a stars worth of energy inside? One would be heated like an oven. The other would be heated like a microwave.

    We have never generated antimatter that we can actually use for anything? Ever heard of a PET scan? That stands for positron emission tomography. This means that it emits a type of antimatter particle known as a positron to create the image.

    A fairytale to make Mother Goose blush... Antimatter? A hypothesis based solely on mathematical derivatives having positive and negative values, not on true observations. Likewise, how stars work is also just an hypothesis.
    As a science fiction essay this might garner a B minus, ... a make believe civilization, graded on a make believe scale for using make believe technologies 😂.
    Worth the listen if only to understand what nonsense is being spewed in quasi academia.

      If we stair long enough we can imagine we see unicorns and mermaids and UFOs in clouds. If we imagine hard enough, we can pretend that particle in a cloud chamber is proof of an antiproton 😉... Government grants of billions of dollars depend upon "experts" clinging to mythical particles which might whisk us to some far away star, or open portals to alternative dimensions or create the weapon capable of turning moons to dust... But I do enjoy the shadow dance...

      It’s true that some concepts, like antimatter and how stars work, are based on theories and mathematical models. Science is always evolving, and some ideas may start as hypotheses before we have all the evidence. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
