There's nothing to mild about the 22r, it's quite an aggressive shave. It might be mild for Geofatboy, who's been traditionally wet shaving for years, but for a beginner it's aggressive!
I use the 99R and it is amazing! Took a little time getting use to the angle after going from a cartridge razor. I will definitely not be going back. Great review as always!
@@blazorb5907 I heard the Parker 99 r is aggressive.. I just got a Parker 92r and will be using it tomorrow and am excited because I heard it's aggressive.
just bought a 22R and i absolutely love it. i have 5 razors and its now my go to over rockwell and merkur. i find it mild but definitely on the upper mild side, almost even aggressive. perfect balance for me. not a muhle R41 but not a merkur 34C either, right in between. I also LOVE the parker blades so smooth and comfortable. i just ordered a 100 pack of those razor blades
Nice shave! Considering the package design and the fact that they are made in Turkey, the blades have a great chance to be rebadged Derbys (Extras or the newer Premiums).
I really couldn't decide between the 99R and the 22R. Then I went to the website and saw how they're priced and I'm getting one of each! These Parker safety razors are a bargain, and I've had a few shaves with the new Parker blades now too and they provide a very comfortable shave. It's getting to the point now that I have to find a way to organize and store my growing collection of safety razors. Either that or stop watching these videos so I stop buying more safety razors.
Re: blades in a Murkur 38c: The first shave was a couple days growth. Was tugging. Next day the blades were smoother than the possibly fake Astra. The first Astras with numbered sides, were closer and smoother. They held up 3-4 shaves. Fake astra... ok but not as smooth. However last at least a week. These parkers are a lot like first Astra and I expect 3-4 days out of them.
Hey GFB, great video as always. Heard a while back Parker was extending their line sometime in April, will give these blades a go. I'm 58 years old, have wet shaved my entire time shaving. Straight razors and Safety razors. Have enough of both, high end and everyday use razors to where I could wallpaper my home with them. Also being a bit on the lower end of the evolutionary scale as fair as beard growth and not shaving each day, my time at the sink is like cutting down the Outback with a weed trimmer. I always seem to go to one razor, a Parker. Not anything expensive but find it one of my go-to razors. The Parker 63C 3 piece with the open comb safety bar. Not sure what's so special about it but it's just aggressive enough to cut through 3 to 4 days beard growth without issues, shave's extremely close, has a superb knurled handle and is hefty enough to where the razor does all the work. No pressing down, the razor glides smoothly as the open comb gathers enough shave cream to always keep the shaving area well lubricated. Hardly ever a nick and zero razor burn. You did a great video on the 63C some time back, maybe a sequel video? Thanks for the uploads.
Another highly professional video. Geo is a great connoisseur who really knows what he's doing and perfectly understands the entire subject of men's shaving pleasures. Thanks for the good job. Thumbs up. My opinion: I fully agree the plastic boxes are really comfortable and safe. However, I prefer paper wrappings for not messing up the environment. No, I'm not an eco Nazi or a leftist jerk, I just like to be considerate. I don't like plastics as a material in general.
I finally got a Parker 22R and I tried the Parker blades that came with it. Even though I don't have anything to compare it to the Parker blades seem to be a bit feisty lol. The platinum seem to bother my skin a little bit but we will see. Next up on the agenda is extra blues. But I finally made the jump.
But here's an update on my saga. I tried the Astra blues the other day on my second shave with my Parker 22R the Astra blades were super smooth but almost too smooth. On my third shave I used the Parker blade for the second time and it seems better this time. It seemed sharper than the Astra blades and not quite as smooth but still very nice. I attribute the difference partially to my trepidation of using these particular blades, the parkers for my very first time with a double edge razor. Someone can comment and let me know if I'm off base. The parkers didn't see me sharp this time I don't think one shape will make that much difference but I think it has to do with competency on my part. What's a y'all?
The gunmetal Parker 22R was the razor I bought when I got back into wet shaving after years of electric shaving. It's incredible value for money although I found that it doesn't center the blade quite perfectly - however I use this to my advantage, it means it has one more aggressive side and one milder :)
Thank you for sharing another great review. I also use Thayer witch hazel. After that I will use a little coconut oil if my face feels tight. I have yet to find many after shave balms without a lot of “junk” in them. I do not use after shave lotion, just a little coconut oil.
Before watching this video I didn’t know if I wanted the the 99R or the 22R. Now after watching this video I still don’t know. You made them both look good. As always another great video. Thank you.
My after shave routine is I dampen my face, apply an alcohal-based aftershave, immediately apply a dime size of balm, style my hair, then apply more aftershave. That keeps my irritation minimal.
The difference in sound between the two is astounding. You can tell the difference. Parkers are a good buy and a great beginner de razor imo. I have both those models. The tob cream is my absolute favourite to shave with hands down, worth paying the price. Nice vid. I just bought the Thayers witch hazel yesterday LoL! Can’t wait to try it. Cheers 🍻.
Hello respectable Geofatboy..........You are the greatest man amongst those i have ever seen doing shave......You are undoubtedly "THE BEST".......Here is a question for you...,Can we buy your Shave nation products right here in Pakistan.....?
Zarb E Momin I'm sure you can buy from Shave Nation and have them shipped to Pakistan, but Parker are an Indian made product so I would assume you could by them locally and save on shipping. To buy from Geo simply Google 'Shave Nation.' As it is an online service, but I am not sure if Geo ships worldwide. Best to check. I have to agree with you, Geo is one of the best if not the best of reviewers, and always starts with a good growth of tough beard so you can visually check the aggressiveness of the razors.
I started shaving with a de razor 1 week ago. I have been cutting myself every day. I got the 99r and Derby blades. I have a feeling the 99r is too aggressive to start with and the Derbys to dull. Although I'm 61, I still suffer from some sort of acne. My beard hair is rather hard. I ordered the Parker variant and Astra blades so hoping I can progress step by step.
I looked up Thayers Medicated Witch Hazel, and the medicated part seems to be 20% grain alcohol. This would seem to make Thayers functionally little different from drug store witch hazel (Thayers, in fact, seems to have more alcohol), although Thayers does have a few extra secondary ingredients (e.g. aloe vera, and various fragrences). The heads on the two razors seem to be virtual exact copies of most of Gillette's TTO razors. Emulation is the sincerest form of flattery. FWIW, the only Parker I have is the 94R, and the two razors in the video seem to be of similar quality, which is excellent.
i started my shaving experience (post-cartrige, that is) with the 99r, still have to be very careful to not get any nicks or iritation. This experience is much more streamlined with a parker shavette that i use.
Hey, I know maybe this is pretty late to ask. Are you still using 99r? I got a coarse beard and it has heavy growth. I was wondering if 99r would be a great choice for me. Would you share your feedback if possible?
Greeting geofatboy. Again thank you for making helpful video for us. These Parker safety razor are the same as price or nearly the same in your website and butterfly style. I wanna know what’s the difference. I mean as experimental not using material or diameter or weight as you said in this video 99R is more aggressive than 22R. 22R/29L/60R/82R/86R/90R/92R/96R/99R I wanna buy but I’m getting confuse. If you make video to describe the I’ll be appreciate and it will be useful for customers Thanks P.S: I red your describes below the these products. Thank you again
Hello, I am new to safety razor world (new as in only a week ago i saw my first video about them, lol) and I would like your opinion about butterfly mechanism (aka tto, twist-to-open) Vs two-piece or three-piece. I am shopping for safety razor now and I like the practicality of the butterfly mechanism but will I be sacrificing quality and performance? I am targeting the Parker 99R. If I end up going away from the butterfly style, I will end up getting the Merkur 34c instead. Your opinion will be immensely appreciated.
Hello GFB mate have the 22R and have just got a 29L Parker which I have yet to try the 22R I find nice and mild but heavy for my crook arm have you ever tried the 29L as I do like the long nicely knurled handle and what did you thing of it :D
I'm new into this but let me say this great video, great explanation and great job.... Greatly appreciated, and if you don't mind where can I buy this items?....
The heads of both seem to be identical or same. Then what makes one more aggressive than the other? Is it just the weight difference or something else?
Rayan AA It depends, blades vary with manufacturers and products and shavers according to beard type, and individual preference. You will get about 3-6 uses from one blade. YMMV. Your mileage may vary, as they say.
Man! I tried to use this thing and it irritated my neck SO BAD. Jesus Christ. I guess I just dont know how to use the goddamned thing or something. So fucking mad right now. Maybe it’s just too aggressive for me.
If planet Earth ever needs a shaving ambassador, you'll have my vote.
High class no nonsense professional UA-cam shave expert, thank you, sir.
Dude, the speed and efficiency at which this man shaves with blades while talking and making a video is the level of man I dream to be. Damn.
You got to love the value of Parker razors.
There's nothing to mild about the 22r, it's quite an aggressive shave. It might be mild for Geofatboy, who's been traditionally wet shaving for years, but for a beginner it's aggressive!

Thanks John, Thayers is good stuff!
What is the material used in head of 99R?Is it Zamac?
Hi geo! I would like to know your opinion about the Parker 98R. Is it a good quality safety razor?
Hi I am currently using the 96r should I upgrade? I have close to clean shaven face most of the time
If you like variety, then try another razor, if not stick with it if it provides you with a great shave.
I didn't like the toobs coconut looking forward to trying the Parker Platinum De Blades...

So how many shaves did you manage to get out of the Parker blade Geo?
So the 99r is more aggresive how? Bc of the weight?
Pretty much!
Nice review Geo !
Guys, what's the difference between all Parker models, why are there Parker 60r, 99, 91, 70 something and so on? What's the deal with the digits?
