You're an amazing human being, Iohan. You restore my faith in humanity.
He doesn't restore my faith in humanity. He doesn't seem to understand at 4:25 that the dog is very hungry, that the dog does not care what the meat is called in the local language, and that the dog was smarter than he was in sensing something was very, very wrong up in the mountains in that whiteout while Iohan thought it was just another "spiritual and perpetually optimistic adventure". Both of them are lucky they survived that, but I doubt the legions of "spiritual and perpetually optimistic followers" this guy has will accept that reality which ANY competent mountain and wilderness trekker/climber will confirm in one second after viewing that episode (#33).

One of the reasons we support Iohan on Patreon is because of his affection and kindness towards dogs. He even shares his food with them. So I wasn’t worried about Shadow (Sombra) at all and am glad Shadow is doing good!

Shadow is such a loyal companion to go through all that cold with you.
I had similar experience in Carretera Austral Chile a dog very similar to this one followed me from La Junta to Puyuhuapi. Another followed me from Balmaceda to Chile Chico, over 100 km. His paws were bleeding, I didn't know what to do to stop him from following me.
These dogs from Chile are amazing, by the way, all are special.

Dogs can tolarate rough conditions but they do burn lot of "fuel" then. Please remember to feed your companion with extra food when it is cold.
Shadow picked the right person to hang around if he was looking for an adventure.

Every dog I have had was like shadow. Loyal, loving, forgiving, adventurous, fun, and loving. To bad all dogs can't have people like Iohan in their lives. They deserve it. They give more than they get. Thanks for the update on Shadow. I never had a doubt that you took great care of him while in your care.

When the feeling is right, the dog stays at your side.
Your videos are fucking incredible, man. The shots of the mountains from the cabin where you stayed were stupefying. You really capture the beauty of the places you go so well. The dogs are an added treat every time. I just don’t know how you leave them (at least Shadow and the fella you met up in Colombia). If I’d made that kind of connection with a dog in that way, it would be really tough to say goodbye. But those dogs seem to enjoy their freedom and solitude just as much as you do.

What a beautiful dog. It's like he is a guardian angel or something, following to be sure you make it safely down the mountain.
I love how when he is showing his route on the map, he doesn't point out a direct route... but one that covers 3 times the ground needed to get where he is going. Real Freedom, Real happiness. Just don't make sense in the concrete jungle... =(

Interesting storyline and very compelling storytelling. I enjoy the humanity you bring to (just another adventure/bike travel vlog) and appreciate how the series has evolved. Oh ya, your a kind soul for animals and have a gift to offer so my unsolicited (old man) advice is to consider becoming a veterinarian.

I never doubted Shadow was ok, I guess he has followed other travellers on their journeys in the past and will continue to do in the future. like someone has already commented, Shadow is a mountain dog, the mountains are his home, his adventures, he seems very happy. @Multorum Unum do drones save the video to the phone? not through a memory card on the drone? I don't have one so I don't know
@Multorum Unum There are 2 options on the memory card on or your phone or both on your phone the quality is less good but its still really cool
understand if you see an animal adapted to the cold and active and they have fluffy snow on their fur, coats, that their body,coat insulation is so good that the body heat is not even reaching the snow to melt it.

So glad Shadow is doing great, such fun intelligent dog high spirited. Iohan your such a brave and wonderful person, when people say it "can't be done' you say "why not.." lol, love that punch line. Things seem to come out fine after. People like you are true examples of what our world appreciates.. kindness, care and respect for people, animals and mother nature. Though mother nature has its test of difficulties that makes you stronger, she rewards you in return with generosity, the beauty, peacefulness and safety along your amazing journey.
reminds me of the Harry Nillson song "Me and My Arrow" from the animated film "The Point" (only you named him Shadow)....its a story about a character named "Oblio" who wanders the wilderness with his dog, Arrow. I was watching an earlier video and thinking you should write a book some time (if you want). Some of your descriptions of the scenery are very poetic! I just got done reading Full Tilt: From Ireland to India on a bicycle (she doesn't go the whole way on a bike but most of it). It's written in the 1960's so it's very interesting historically.
I've heard stories like this before.
A lone hiker going through the mountains meets a stray dog. The dog saves the hiker in one way or another during the trek. Finally they part ways. The hiker remembers the dog fondly.

Hello, Iohan! This is such an awesome story and I'm really happy to have been touched by it. As for the drone... I think you should strop an action camera (GoPro or such) to it, run the drown to low battery, fly it as high as it will go and wait for it to fall from the sky! Then you could grab the footage from the drone and action camera's SD cards (hopefully the action camera survives, too...). I look forward to seeing how you decide to destroy it! Also, I have been using my DJI Mavic Pro for a few years and it has been working great. Maybe a recommendation for your future drone! Thanks again, Iohan! Enjoy your travels. ~Dylan

Someone take in these dogs. I did when I was in Sicily and that homeless stray was the smartest most greatful most loving best behaved dog ever. Adopt these strays ! If enlightened dog lovers just take one as you find them soon no more problem.

I don't know what an adapter would do or look like for the bottom bracket, but maybe try a washer to stop the wobbling. Be mindful that you have enough theads to hold it all together.

Visiting Bariloche can be bad for your health -- too many chocolate shops. Do you plan to summit Cerro Tronador? You should also pass through El Bolson, it's a really cool little town.
