I think slow practice is the best way to learn a piece. Slow is also a way of listening to a piece for some that play by ear. You can learn classical music by first knowing scales in all keys and arpeggi in all keys and play by ear. Music is for the ear. Let's not limit ear pianist they can learn all the notes by ear. Most people can read music anyways it's just piano has two lines to follow treble and bass. And it's harder to sight read a piece for some ear players. Thanks for slow practice.

This isn't slow practice. It is my final tempo.

@@BachScholar sorry but I am commenting on your slow tempo videos. I heard this piece here played faster but I like for the most part pieces played slower. When a piece is raced through I think you lose the enjoyment of the piece. Sometimes I think the editor puts the metronome values in and not the composer, most public domain music has no values in how fast a piece should be. Well bottom line I like the speed you played this piece.

@@BachScholar Chopin's fantasie impromptu is a good example of listening to it slower I listen to it on my electronic keyboard and slow it down with the tempo decrease. I really don't like that piece played fast I want to hear and follow the three against four. My eyes don't follow well fast.

If you listen to Claudio Arrau's recording, one of the greats of the 20th century, you will discover that he played it "slow" as well. In fact, he plays just about everything slower than everyone else. But you know what? He was one of the greatest pianists of the 20th century. Speed does not necessarily make a pianist or an interpretation great. We have become too accustomed to hearing (at least the middle section) of this piece played at such ridiculously fast tempi that many pianists think it's the only way to play it.

It seems like many people do not roll the dyads in the left hand as written and instead keep the melody in the right hand. Is this usually how this piece is taught?

    • @Bdang87

Its the easier way to play it as its technically easier play and also to voice but its supposed to be played by the left rolled

Not bad but not for me. It lacks love and passion. A little robotic. Sounds like only the notes were followed and not the added annotations of speeding up and slowing down in certain sections. As well as the crescendos and legattos weren’t really present.
