Her boyfriend is unstable, the doctor is stealing bodies, Rhodes is trigger happy, and on top of it all they have a small zombie horde behind a homemade fence inside and a big horde behind a chain link fence outside. Everyone is going crazy and it's inevitable it'll all fall apart. My favorite thing is the well written dialogue and how it showcases the growing hostility between the survivors. I worship George A. Romero, but as much as I love “Dawn of the Dead” (trust me, it is one of the best - if not THE best - zombie movies ever made) and as terrifying as the original “Night of the Living Dead” classic is, I think “Day of the Dead” is my personal favorite, taking into consideration that it is the one I watched the most and also has the best script. As much as we all adore some action-oriented zombie flick, I think it is so refreshing to watch a more cerebral horror movie, with great dialogue and characters. I think that that was the main reason why this movie flopped at the box office, it was just too intelectual for the regular audiences that were looking for some cheap scares and nothing more. The trailers and advertising for “Day” were so misleading, and, with such a dark tone, it could not compete with more “entertaining” zombie movies of the time like “The Return of the Living Dead” and “Re-Animator” (both fantastic in their own respective ways). And by the way, Bub rules !

Awesome song. Starts from such depression, then let's you go really low....then BAM! hit's you with the upbeat disco. Tells the listener "hey there's alot more here". Cool song and puts you in the 80s mood.
Watched this movie for the first time on HBO back in '88. Of course I was only five at the time and remembered only bits and pieces of it. 2003 rolls along and I must've rewatched my friends DVD of it at least 30 times in two weeks. Then of course I recently binged Stranger Things and was kind of surprised to see it as such a big hit in the movie theater(it didn't too well when I watched the DVD commentary on the release numbers). Any who, for someone who enjoys both TWD and now the Stranger Things universe, one can never go wrong with the Romero classics. On that note, it's nice that Greg Nicotero(Pvt Johnson) is now a mainstay in TWD production department. However, with the final season coming up, it would've been cool if Joe Pilato were still alive. Joe Pilato would've made a great CRM "Chief of Staff/four star general", while Lori Cardille would've been perfect as the leader of The Commonwealth. A larger scale version of their respective screen antagonism towards each other.
This theme gave it a real sense of the apocalypse ,and the danger more so than the walking dead ever or has done . You want a real zombie film experience day of the Dead is it . I can tell instantly the scope George Romero really intended for the film. This was meant to be the Ben Hur of zombie films
Night of the living dead is my all time favorite horror movie (black and white/colored,i dont care,i love it) and dawn is one of my favorite horror sequels ever (2004 remake was sick as well) something about day of the dead was.... haunting, and scarier than the other two... helps that the gore and blood was some of the sickest stuff i'd seen in a dead series up to that point (going from colorful, neon like blood in dawn, to realistic, muted red blood and pink/salmon gore and practical effects) was eye opening to me. also, that scene where the soldier gets his throat stretched, and his vocal cords get severed, going from a low pitch,to a higher one always freaked me the hell out
After not seeing this film in probably 15+ years (since I was a kid renting movies at blockbuster) just recently purchased the scream factory blu ray and was blown away. What a great fuckin movie.
Maravillosa pelicula de George Romero (que en paz descase en pobre). Drama, terror, suspenso, zombies, gore y critica social hicieron de esta pelicula una obra maestra. PD: Exelente sountrack 🧟♂️🤘😈

I feel this score conveys both dread and escapism. When they leave for the helicopter and end up on the Island, it just makes you feel that, "what if I could just escape to a tropical island" thought. It has a wish fulfillment aspect much like Dawn does with the mall in a "what would you do" scenario, albeit more subtle. It also has a great dark portion that goes well with the lumbering zombies, especially that sting in the beginning with the newspaper.
"hellooo" "is anyone there" "helllooooo" i love the scene that plays with this song
Anyone at allllll...
Yeah it's epic, best zombie film ever made and this film has 1 of my fav kills ever, the head getting pulled off and the scream changes pitch
I can so see Rick doing that in The Walking Dead and expect nothing bad to happen

Probably the best opening scene in a horror movie (just my opinion).

Cant believe a sequel to this movie is coming! They called it night of the living dead 2 but still with the survivors from day!
A larger scale version of their respective screen antagonism towards each other.
listening in the quarantine of 2020
One of the best three movies on my list
I like this theme song of this movie too.
One of the first films that turned me on to Zombiemania :)
This theme gave it a real sense of the apocalypse ,and the danger more so than the walking dead ever or has done . You want a real zombie film experience day of the Dead is it . I can tell instantly the scope George Romero really intended for the film. This was meant to be the Ben Hur of zombie films
Luv it especially the part of the creator
you can really tell the difference in the years for the 3 good movies made when it comes to their sound tracks
This bass in this is sooooo good
Night of the living dead is my all time favorite horror movie (black and white/colored,i dont care,i love it) and dawn is one of my favorite horror sequels ever (2004 remake was sick as well) something about day of the dead was.... haunting, and scarier than the other two...
helps that the gore and blood was some of the sickest stuff i'd seen in a dead series up to that point (going from colorful, neon like blood in dawn, to realistic, muted red blood and pink/salmon gore and practical effects) was eye opening to me. also, that scene where the soldier gets his throat stretched, and his vocal cords get severed, going from a low pitch,to a higher one always freaked me the hell out
My favorite film right alongside Shaun of the dead and Dog Soldiers
George romero ,maître du genre.rip.🔊🔊🔊♥👍✔
J adore les films de zombies et donc le maître du genre.
Great movie really amazing
You can't beat the original trilogy! Honorable mentions to Night of the Living Dead (1990) and Dawn of the Dead (2004) though!
After not seeing this film in probably 15+ years (since I was a kid renting movies at blockbuster) just recently purchased the scream factory blu ray and was blown away. What a great fuckin movie.
i feel like this music really captures a zombie apocalypse
Maravillosa pelicula de George Romero (que en paz descase en pobre). Drama, terror, suspenso, zombies, gore y critica social hicieron de esta pelicula una obra maestra.
PD: Exelente sountrack 🧟♂️🤘😈
Man, that`s one of the best zombie movies ever made. Underrated as hell.
"You think im fuckin' around Steel?"
"I'm running this monkey farm now Frankenstein, and I want to know what the fuck you're doing with my time."

Legendary 😎
HELLO? IS ANY ONE THERE!?....
