Was in Peterhead doing 9 years , and while the riots were in progress. The officers in this documentary were all familiar to me . I never saw any prisoners being assaulted in all the time I was in prison ( 13years all in ).
The bearded man who is being interviewed whilst he is covered in his own faeces is a lot more articulate and sensible than you'd expect someone in his position to be. For any one to use his own bodily waste as a weapon must be at the very end of their tether, because it's guaranteed that the prison staff will never forget about it, no matter what prison the prisoner goes to. So I'd believe the prisoners who feel as if they are forced to go to such extremes rather than the staff who have every reason to lie about what goes on in some prisons.

I read all about them in TC Campbells book when the screws tried to kill him and nearly did. His book is called 'Indictment Trial By Fire: The Ice- Cream Wars And The Truth Behind A Shocking Miscarriage Of Justice. Its a great read and really sad, that the system that fit up the wrong men while knowing who really did it. Thats why dci norrie walker hanged himself 18 month later and dcs charlie craig died of a massive heart attack or so they say. A heard dcs charlie craig topped himself as well with his car in his gargage and he put on the engine with a hose in the petrol tank running strait into the top of his car window and went to sleep forever, seemingly its a horrible slow death. They didnt realise glasgow hated the sight of them and there own kind would tell them to fuck off becouse they had so much on them, so craig and walker just had to take it and were even bullied by bigger boys and told get out now yous two are hated. 6 people died and yous two still wouldnt jail who did it. They had lost what they had. But thats the point they didnt have street credibilety to start with, they had set up too many innocent men.

It was shocking the way these men were treated in peterhead prison. Its like going back to the stone ages, especialy in B hall where men were kept for years. And now am alot older i know more about what went on in peterhead. The screws for a start are lieying about saying no one gets hurt its just a restrain method till they calm down. So what about the men that the screws leave half dead with 5 of them jumping on 1 man, till he cant walk or use his arms and is black and blue all over, the reason its well hidden is becouse there locked up 23 hours a day, so no other con sees them. In 1985,86 they thought they had killed tc campbell as he got the same treatment. When big tc campbell was taken to aberdeen infirmary it said on his wrist 'dead on arrival' the screws went over the top and left him with out a pulse. But tc was made of hard stuff and made a full recovery. Tc said they had broken his two arms and one leg and felt they had broke his back and his face and head had swollen up to nearly twice its size, and all for some thing he didnt do. That was a pure fuckin liberty, and they did that to him a good few times, so much even tc lost count. Prisoners in spain and france and greece and italy and other parts of europe dont even get treated like that! Yes the jails are all dirty rat infested middens, but the officers dont try and kill the inmates. And well done to these guys here becouse it was them and others at this time that i think done so much damage in peterhead, perth, barlinnie, saughton, glenochil, shotts, all the big main jails. And all did at the same time at a cost of ? Millions, it was too much. I couldnt believe how bad shotts was after they wrecked it? It was nearly 6ft high in toilets, beds, pipes, boards, stairs, lights, water, you name it and it was there to see, ripped up or ripped of walls and ceilings plus i think they burnend 1 hall almost to the ground. So the system did change a bit after all that, it didnt seem as hard but it still wasnt a nice place to be in, jail never is and never will be. Stripped of your dignity and freedom taken away, and ownend by the goverment. That was enough for me. I wouldnt say it was really hard, after a while it does become so boring beyond believe, and this isnt the same as being bored in the house or outside even, its different from that becouse you can get worse so you have to learn to use the time and not let the time use you. But thats easier said than done and thats why so many take drugs and i can understand that becouse i did it to.

Out of all the Prison Riots during Maggie's Reign, Peterhead is the Only one where she sent in the SAS, Which shows how bad it must have been.
