It was only briefly mentioned in that episode so the Royal Mother started targeting Gui Fei to make her father pay.
One thing I do love about this show is that it is a historical drama. Sadly, I try not to read too much on Wikipedia, since most of the information can be wrong or never fix at time. But the thing is, we don’t know if he truly did cared about Ruyi in the end. Since he never wrote any hidden documents. Which, would be neat if all the important ones that is represented within the show that is base on the actual person, did have written some personal details before they die and have it secretly hidden before hand by their faithful servants. Sadly, I bet there is a misinformation or unknown detail that is never brought up or destroyed.

Aside from that, the reason we don't know what really happened here is that all royal documents and portraits pertaining to Ruyi were deliberately destroyed by Qianlong. We have other people's historical accounts, like knowing that Ling was posthumously titled empress, or that Mei gave birth to a deformed child. Of course, dirty laundry like the poisonings and such wouldn't be written anywhere, unless there was an official and public punishment, to preserve the image of the royal family. But as for Ruyi, the only thing we know for certain is that she was basically erased from history. Nothing else, not even the reason. Qianlong is widely considered one of the best emperors in history and certainly the best of his dynasty. But how he was as a person... Who knows? It's likely he was like this. Great monarchs rarely are good people.
