HD- Angels Flight Railway: Downtown Los Angeles

- Coined as the shortest railway in the world, The Angels Flight Railway trickles up and down Bunker Hill in Downtown Los Angeles, carrying thousands of passengers each year up the 298 foot hill, with an approximate 33-percent grade. This was my first time seeing the railway in action, so it was an experience in itself. Angels Flight is a funicular railway, so when one goes up, one comes down in perfect unison, and they meet in the middle. The ride is a bit bumpy, but at just a quarter a ride, it remains one of Los Angeles' historic attractions. I hope you are able to ride this if you ever visit Los Angeles, but if not, enjoy my video!
Probably the best video of Angels Flight on youtube! I was so glad to see that it is up and running again after the horrible accident. They "got it right" this time with state of the art safety features, done very tastefully!
Nope
Just listening to Angels Flight audio book, written by Michal Connelly - great to see this in action after hearing so much about it in the book. I've also checked out the Bradbury Building, also mentioned in the book. What a beautiful building. Thanks for a great video - greetings from England :)
Good to know; added to my "to do list" Downtown L.A itself is very interesting.
Awesome video!
That looks like fun
Had to google so I can better visualize the setting of Bosch (book). :)
Remember Lon Chaney Jr. throwing a guy down the steps in "The Indestructibe Man"?
I have never been to Los Angeles but have seen it featured in a few movies and shows. Do Angelinos use it as a practical way to get around, or is it mostly a tourist thing?
I eat lunch at the top of the hill everyday, I just take the stairs lol
I rode it as a child in it's original location. It ran for decades without incident. The IDIOTS at the engineering company that designed the propulsion system failed to grasp the fact that there has to one cable around one winding device tying the two cars together so the cars never get out of synchronization. That is the way it was in it's original location. The tragedy was needless.
It has since reopened! Open to the public on August 31, 2017.
Years ago, this I very much desired to go on. But, after pub-crawling with a group, ze an official would NOT allow us, "No Drunks!" they shouted. BUT, I lamented, "I come all ze way from Paris!" Then, he did answer, "No Drunken Frogs Allowed!"
+Amélie Renoncule Since September 2013, this train is currently closed due to safety issues. I don't think you would still want to ride it.
The Technoclast reopened
DJ G Production It will be re-opened by Labor Day.

Hats off to the brave souls who dare to ride this poorly-maintained deathtrap. I was about 10 yards from the lower terminus when Sinai struck Olivet in 2001.
Does anyone ride this?
It's abandon now

It will be re-opened by Labor Day of this year. 😃

Yeah I want to ride a funicular.
