Yeah I did, in my defense that is not a hot swap, the deck was powered off and in battery storage mode. A hot swap would involve the deck being powered on and running, kinda like pulling a drive sled on a running server. Either way not advisable to keep the battery plugged in but after having fixed pixels that don't allow access to battery plug before screen connector I've grown a bad habit.
Great eye, i usually keep a parts bin skx, 5, or tachymeter in daily rotation. Would love a grand seiko but can't trust myself not to wreck the crystal.
So do we remove the battery or not? In most videos that show how to change the ssd, they do remove the battery. You're telling us to remove it but you did not--is it still okay to keep it as it is when swapping the ssd after making sure it is in battery save mode? I heard it can also be dangerous to tamper with the battery if you puncture it, but I saw numerous videos that show the battery being removed via the ribbon or just with your fingernails.
Yes, unplug the battery connector, I forgot to do it in my excitement... I have not experienced any issue from not removing it but foregoing that step does make short circuits a real possibility. With that said do not pull the battery off the chassis, that's a totally different thing, you just want to unplug the battery connector not physically separate the battery from deck chassis.
@@fluffybananatech Thank you for your response. After seeing multiple videos including yours, the process seems easy. However, I have no experience whatsoever with tampering with electronics. @@danaahmad4189 I'd say no don't attempt, if you are uncomfortable opening it up. @@fluffybananatech Thank you for your input. Wouldn't it be helpful, in order to refrain from stripping the screws, is just to get the right screwdrivers? This is good to know, I guess I'll sacrifice my install of steam OS and do a more proper walk through of reinstalling. I know its super easy to say reinstall and move on because shiny new drive must play game.
