That tapered tube needs to be glued into the correct /exact placement on to the back of the tweeter, otherwise if that tube is not connected to the back of the tweeter, it will sound like the tweeter is not operating as it should. I had the same issues with my speakers. 1 of the loudspeaker channels was not emitting high frequencies. I heard something rattle about inside the loudspeaker enclosure. It was the tapered tube. The tweeter slips out of the housing/location almost freely. I could see where the tube connected to the tweeter because I could see where the glue had separated and had left a shaped imprint behind. So I used superglue to reattach it perfectly. I put the tweeter back in its housing, resembled the rest and gave it a test.. Hey presto, it worked perfectly. What I did find out was the tweeter would not function correctly, if at all without the tube connected correctly in place.
