why brass instead of the iron used?

Brass rod is used transfer heat and to adapt the sharp knife to the iron handle, you can use your iron tip to make this too.

Smart move to cut short the knife. By the way, what is wattage of iron? I have an 80W iron. How will it work on a thick plastic or PVC?

My iron is GOOT 60W, you can see I cut a 3mm abs plastic box was very easy, pvc melting temperature is lower than abs.

I also use paper cutter to cut out the extruded plastic, and use file to polish the edges. Thanks for your comments!
