"This song is dedicated to this girl I knew from high school. I liked her a lot, but I found out she was just using me to get her ex-boyfriend jealous. It hurt, but I still wanted to be friends with her. She was fun to be around. Everytime I tried to contact to her, she would ignore me. She started contacting me after our second album was released. I knew what she was doing. When I called her out on it, she told her boyfriend I wanted to break them up. Some people never grow up."

"The First Punch" is about re-uniting with someone after you've both decided that you should just be friends. It's about losing all self control and letting your emotions guide you. It can make for an unhealthy relationship but sometimes we let our emotions get the best of us. We co-wrote the music for this song with our good friend Tom Denney in Florida. I always take at least one trip out there to write with Tom because our styles seem to work well together plus it's one of the only times...

Whenever he sings the evolution from when he is singing to screaming sounds so awesome, because it brings the effect of putting enthusiasm on those parts. And I just love their songs in general.

This song has to be one of the best out of the album.
The problem with most bands these days is that they have boring material. Most importantly the guitars. They just tune low and play down chugs in 4/4 time.Most people don't understand that though because they only pay attention to the lyrics. Musically, most bands are garbage. This song though is really good. There's riffing everywhere but they dont over do it, the drums have great energy, and the vocals fit well with the song. Not to mention the message is relatable in so many ways. Nice job PTV, you made a good song out of a dumbed down music industry.
