I watch people go behind me and instantly lower and remove the safeties even though they don't go as low as me.
Yeah, it makes no senes to me why people walk out of the rack/cage when safety bars are there for a reason especially when attempting a PR. But I guess it makes sense when I see those fail videos where they probably walked out of the rack because they're filming for social media with no obstructive view.
My gym has these crazy 10 long multicage squat racks with multiple safety systems, the lowest permanent saftey bar being just above DL bar height so you obviously dont get crushed. People will setup so they squat OUTSIDE it completely. It doesn't make sense, especially when its a kid with straw legs putting 4 plates on doing 1/8th reps

@@jdm4087between the whole effort of production setting up of tripod and multiple angles it still would be less than 5 minutes to get the 10 second clip, if it wasn’t for waiting for idiots getting in the shot and having to do multiple takes. Like if you really look you will for sure see the camera, and can go do a diffetent exercise or walk around the other side of the gym. It’s not very difficult to understand. It’s not that hard to comprehend

I love how these ladies go to gym and do stuff you could do at home with pretty much zero equipment..
Can you do leg extensions with zero equipment? Sure you can do all your squats, lunges, push-ups, and sit-ups at home and THEN go to the gym for the workouts that require machines, but that would not make any sense. You would have to warm up twice, get sweaty twice, its just goofy.

& it still drives me batty, when people start making up new stupid exercises up, like they’ve just invented the wheel🙌

Heard someone saying that by rotating your feet position by 10 degrees on a leg press you could target hamstrings instead of quads. The internet has ruined fitness.

If I owned a gym, I would kick these people out after a first warning.
I record myself lifting heavy and for PRs, but I would never expect people to not be in the shot or I would never get mad that someone walked in front of the camera. If the gym is busy just have one of your buddies hold the camera and just video the lift and not 20 minutes of talking.
These "influencers" are clowns most of them.
I record my stuff to inspire others and also to track my progress and watch and study my form.
But you don't need to film anything. Get a qualified trainer to watch you and give you tips, filming yourself ain't gonna help you improve your form, but someone watching you lift could help. By filming and showing someone, you're just adding extra steps but with the increase of injury because instead of someone immediately calling out bad form; you're now filming yourself doing your exercise and will continue to do that exercise with poor form until you eventually get round to showing someone. Trying to justify it by saying you only do it for PRs or to inspire others is literally the same as the influencers. Any filming in a gym is just "me, me, look at me" behaviour.
Body building has been around for thousands of years, ancient spartan soldiers weight trained, the greeks did, romans. They all managed to pick up weights, get toned, get strong, and train without needing to have watched a video of someone else first. People are gonna exercise if they want to. No amount of scantily clad women or roid pumped gymbros doing the worst form bicep curls in existence is going to get big baz from down the pub to sign up to a gym.
@@darrenp5342 That is a lie, I am a professional wrestler, I even wrestled in high school and we used to film all our matches both in high school and professional and it helped improve us big time to learn from and see our mistakes. Same thing in football we used to watch the games of our opponents to study their defense and offense and the coach would have us review footage of our games to show us mistakes we made and how we can improve and show us footage of things we did do right.
Same thing applies for me lifting, I lift a lot with power lifting competitors who also film their lifts to improve themselves.
Even in pro sports coaches, staff and players watch both their footage and their opponents.
When I was going to pro wrestling school, they videod everything so we can study the tapes to visually see what we did wrong and how we can improve and also studied tapes of the top guys on how they do certain moves.
Same in my Shotokan an Karate classes, the Sensei videos the class so we can review ourselves.
Video is VERY critical to improve your form and such.

I've been in sports all my life, I've wrestled in high school, I am a pro wrestler now, I am also a black belt in Shotokan and Kempo and even when I played football.
Video was very critical for improvement. Both watching our opponents to study them and watching videos of ourselves to learn from our mistakes and to learn how to improve.
Video is a great tool for all sorts of sports.
The power lifters I lift with, some of them are competitors in fact a couple of them won competitions. They also take video. My friend Nick is a power lifter coach and personal trainer and he even recommends taking video as he himself does also.
All the top body builders and powerlifters take video and yes it very much helps you improve.
I've been in the gym and in sports all my life, not sitting around playing video games.
Taking video is very critical to improvement of form and technique and is also very helpful for newbies watching and yes it very much inspires others to go to the gym.

It's clear that the squat rack is the most dangerous place in the gym. I have learned to make sure the safety bars are in place, and when you fail, roll backwards.
