I play Moltress EX Arcanine EX and my matchup against Mewtwo is decent. I feel like some people play the matchup wrong. You need to focus on your Moltress and forget Arcanine. Kill one Pokemon with Moltress T3 and set up for a 2-hit kill into their built Mewtwo by using a Giovanni. You'll lose to their best draws, but I've found plenty of success most games. I'm at about 20-1 with the deck.
I really like this deck but dropped Red Card for a Giovanni. I have mixed feelings on Red Card as it is but Giovanni lets me 1 shot some pokemons, namely Starmie EX and Zapdos EX with the Arcanine EX.
@phury7832 You could try Pokedex instead of a red card, too. Contrary to first. impressions Pokedex always you to make more informed decisions during your turns, and will increase consistency and reduce bricks
Red card is a must on the context of Open decklist tournaments. In the context of just playing the Game i feel the card is pretty Bad there are points where is good. But most of the time is a dead card in your hand and god forbid is your draw when your oponent is winning and they have only one card on his hand...
That Charizard Arcanine deck is very similar to what I have used for a long time! Except I hate red card so I don’t use that one and I only use one copy of Arcanine. 😅
Red cards feel like a toss up because ideally you want to play them to thin out the other player’s hand and make them lose resources but sometimes they just ended up drawing into exactly what they need instead of
Am I the only one that thinks that Zapdos EX is kinda a dead weight in a Pikachu deck?? Sure he can do some great dmg but not only it's Rng coin, but it's very slow to build up.. On the other hand I like Zebstrika quite a lot, it's also very helpful when you go first since you can immediately evolve and attack. Also Raichu for the nuke potential that, in my opinion, it's more reliable than Zapdos. So like, I was trying to build a deck without Zapdos, do you guys have some Suggestion?? I never tried Magneton for example.
Nah I agree, always thought it was kinda mid. I think playing 1 is the best so you have the option if you ever want it. I really like the raichu version without magneton
The non-ex zapdos is highly overlooked, sure it damages your bench, but when you’re up against a wall, the consistency in the normal zapdos is very reassuring Edit: and without the downside of giving 2 points when knocked out
@@irvanmulyadi5236 Yes I agree with the Consistency, but I still feel it's a bit difficult to build 3 Energy for it, and also in the mirror matchup gets oneshot by the weakness too, unlike the EX. Either way, I'd try the normal one if I had it 😭
My fave is actually Electrode. I think it is the best partner for Pikachu as it has Retreat 0 and is a Stage one that does 70 dmg. Zapdos EX is fine but I agree that it can be flimsy at times. Raichu is also ok. I dont like Magneton. It needs 4 energy so with its ability it is like 1-2 that you have to put into it and it only does 60 dmg. Zebstrika also only does 30 so I don't like it, but I have run it, as it only needs one energy and can hit bench. So for me, Electrode > Raichu = Zapdos EX > Zebstrika > Magneton > baby/normal Zapdos > Shitty 3 stage Eel thing no one plays
I dont necessarily think it's dead weight but it's 100% overhyped for what it is. The game is way too fast and already too volatile for ZapdosEX as a win-con to work towards; however it still could fill a niche as a late game panic button or a matchup equalizer. At its worst it's still the best lightning type sponge with a free retreat after xspeed
Starmie articuno still bodies it most of the time, matchups at least 60-40 starmie favored You’re way faster than it and the arcanine tech doesn’t one shot your attackers You only lose if they get the dream quick charizard setup but so does every deck lol
I haven’t seen any other deck try it.. but very curious to see if this makes deck building more interesting in the future. Maybe something like a 1-2 hypno like in some decks? Probably a bad example but
rather than tech ig it's basically sacrificing a spot for a potential tech card for added consistency on an alternative wincon and setup a straightforward gameplan. Vs any deck with EX mons HP > 120? Focus on the zard. Vs Pika the top meta deck? Focus on the dog.
The rationale is that with moltres and char already on the board, your pokeball has the option to draw into something better than another char or moltres
As a ZardTres player who's been using 1 Charmander variant for a while, what it does is basically increasing the consistency of getting all your pieces for a stage mon or the support basic mon by having it be easier to lure in a Pokeball. That at the cost of having the second copies of further stages be dead draws after you actually get all the pieces you needed, diluting your tech draws later into the game.
Arcanine ez charizard ex is an absolutely trash deck to play outside of tournaments, I can run a persian marowak deck and have greater consistency. Constantly holding a full hand of cards and missing my charmeleon or charizard.
It’s gonna run the same in tournament as it does on ladder, you can’t expect a 90% win rate out of any deck lol Losing bc of brick feels the absolute worst but that doesn’t mean it’s bad, it’s still consistent enough to win a majority of the time if piloted correctly
@TillyTCG-y8g it's not gonna run the same in a tournament as it does in ladder. Nobody mentioned a 90% win rate except for you. The deck is absolute garbage, there's nothing to pilot when 50% of the time you don't get the necessary cards to ramp up even by the time you make it to turn 12. If you get the cards the deck is great, the problem is that you don't get the cards needed more often than you do. I've played numerous forms of Charizard/Moltres and Arcanine/Moltres decks and just about every one of them was better than this scam deck.
@TillyTCG-y8g btw kid, build a personality and touch grass. Don't create strawmen and then laugh at them mockingly as if you just proved something, only thing you prove you proved is that you're an anti social dork.
@kingdom2532 a competitive player took this 10-0-0 in the first 10 rounds of the tournament and ended up in 5th place overall across 1600 players. If you can't win with it, it might be a skill issue. I have a 64% win rate in general play so far and rarely feel it bricks. The deck feels great.
@noblevictories2250 I can win with it, I win significantly less with other variations of the deck, which I tend to do much better than the tournament players did with. The game has been full released for a month and has super limited cards, decks, etc. get a grip, any "competitive player" is a figment of your imagination.
@@zaregotoch.8491 bricking just means you miss all your card pulls. this deck counters adds a pikachu counter, but makes it more inconsistent overall at the same time, causing you to "brick" more often in a bo1.
LMAO that's the worst take I've seen this week, to make top cut, you need to be around 70-80% win rate out of 16-30 games to make top cut, that is just not happening if your deck is inconsistent.
I’m playing this deck rn and it does brick at times but most the time I easily set up a fully stacked charizard or arcanine. What I will say I’m only running one arcanine and sometimes I struggle to find that one arcanine ex but charizard pulls through.

Dang so that's how you use it. I have been having a hard time using Arcanine EX with moltres EX but I will try it again using this strat. Thanks!
You aren’t 20-1 with any deck lol
@@ifbfmto9338 except I am. Not interested in convincing you though. Also happy to accept it's a coincidence.
what do you do when they potion though?

Yeah I think that’s a good change, makes the arcanine improve the starmie matchup big time

Arcanine, moltres, and centiskorch is also good. Pretty much like this deck but less risky and they only get 1 point for killing centiskorch
