    Panther 435 and Tiger 823 survived, yay!
    Incredible graphics -- the panther commander getting down into his tank, the loading of shells into the gun breech inside the tank, the binocular work, fantastic!
    I could count the individual seed heads on the weeds.
    Cool exhaust popping flame after engine braking.
    Certain scenes looked exactly like videography.

      I saw the insignia of the 2nd SS panzer division 'Das Reich' on the tiger, but I'm not familiar with the dog's head insignia on the panther.

    Strange Hitler's decision to attack at Kursk especially when delaying and delaying the start of the battle until Tigers and Panthers and Elephants could be brought up.
    Sort of like General Lee's fateful decision to attack the Union Army frontally at Gettysburg.
    Götterdämmerung-like.
    A much much better plan would have been to purposely weaken and denude (bait!) a sizeable portion of the Kursk bulge, let the Soviets come through and then let Germany's bulked up elite mobile forces pinch off and trap important Russian offensive formations.

      It would have been impossible for the germans to even contain the bulge as the Red Army had many, many soldiers in reserve and it was only a matter of time for the soviets to attack. And don't forget the partisans who made a real issue for the Axis forces which took the Wehrmacht a little more than an entire panzer division to rid off right before the start of the 5th July, and that the average german unit was not very secretive of its plans. March journals were often captured by the enemy and many contained valuable intel which, obviously, was an issue for the Axis. And the disastrous start for the new, modern Panther Ausf. D, which was prone of simply randomly catching fire, was only an omen the upcoming battle resulting in a defeat for the Germans.
      Moreover, 20 kilometers wide of defense with at least an antitank gun in every 20 meters square (mind you, this is only the first line of defense) is enough to wet any strategists' pants. They could have easily pushed the Germans and out-flanked any of their counterattacks, but they waited, and they waited, and they waited... the first to attack is always the one who puts themselves at risk.
      Regardless, the Battle of Kursk obviously resulted in a catastrophic defeat for the Reich and it was only the confirmation of the the German Reich losing the war after Stalingrad and even the Field Marshalls knew it was only a matter of time before the USSR set his flag on the Reichstag.

    • @Mandrak789
      @Mandrak789 3 роки тому +1

      Nothing strange there really. Germans couldn't play it out like that. They tried to prevent Soviet offensive with preventive attack because they knew when Red army moves out of the bulge, there's no stopping. In this sense, they managed to disrupt Soviet plans, but payed the price they could not afford.

    • @hajsmanv1
      @hajsmanv1 3 роки тому +2

      @@sabatonic485 You repeat stupid propaganda. In a modern war, the enemy cannot be defeated by sending human waves against him.
      The losses of the Soviet Union amounted to 27 million, of which over 17 million were civilian casualties. Of the approximately 10 million soldiers, almost 4 million died in German captivity.
      According to various estimates, German losses on the Eastern Front amounted to 5-6 million.
      So it's almost balanced. While at the beginning of Operation Barbarossa the Red Army suffered colossal losses, during the war it leveled off and at the end it was exactly the opposite.
      On the Eastern Front, 85% of German divisions were destroyed.
      P. S. 17 million dead civilians and 4 million of captured Red Army soldiers are terrible numbers, and the Germans can be glad that the same genocide did not take place on their territory.

    • @aurorasdawn4681
      @aurorasdawn4681 3 роки тому

      The Germans can be glad that most of them fled / were expelled towards regions controlled by the western allies, which didn't expose them to a scorched earth policy with the same rigour as Stalin did to the people living in the Soviet Union. Or what do you mean?

    • @hajsmanv1
      @hajsmanv1 3 роки тому +1

      @@aurorasdawn4681 Above all, the Germans may be glad that the Red Army soldiers did not treat them as SS units to the civilian population of the Soviet Union.
      By no means did the German civilians flee en masse to the west, and the advancing Red Army found only empty German villages and towns.
      And Stalin did not use the scorched earth tactics in 1941, but the retreating Germans in 1943-4, the Red Army soldiers found ruins and atrocities after them, and yet they did not take revenge for them in Germany, at least the excesses for which the culprits were shot.

    • @aurorasdawn4681
      @aurorasdawn4681 3 роки тому

      @@hajsmanv1 I'm not going to try arguing with someone who's clearly lacking the most fundamental basics of historical facts. I can only say (read in Jordan Peterson voice): READ MORE.
      "Stalin was so paralyzed by fear of Hitler that there was not a word from him for a full 11 days after the German invasion on June 22. Finally on July 3, 1941 Stalin spoke on the radio and condemned the actions of "such fiends as Hitler and Ribbentrop" who had broken their pact of friendship. Stalin also announced a "scorched earth" policy for Ukraine: "In case of a forced retreat... all rolling stock must be evacuated, the enemy must not be left a single engine, a single railway car, not a single pound of grain or gallon of fuel. The collective farmers must drive off all their cattle and turn over their grain to the safe keeping of the state authorities for transportation to the rear. All valuable property, including non-ferrous metals, grain and fuel that cannot be withdrawn must be destroyed without fail. In areas occupied by the enemy, guerilla units....must set fire to forests, stores and transports."
      The retreating Soviet officials, for example, shipped 6 million cattle from Ukraine east to Russia, 550 large factories, thousands of small factories and 300,000 tractors. The USSR also evacuated 3.5 million skilled workers from Ukraine to the Russian Republic. In the Battle for Ukraine Soviet sources say the partisans blew up nearly 5,000 enemy trains, blasted 607 railway bridges, 915 warehouses, and damaged over 1,500 tanks and armoured carriers.
      As the Soviet authorities and army retreated from Ukraine in 1941, Stalin's scorched earth policy left a trail of destruction including the Dniprohes Dam on the Dnieper River, which was the largest hydro electric power dam in Europe, countless mines and major industrial factories, and Khreschchatik Street in the capital city of Kiev. On November 3, 1941 the famous architectural monument, the Dormition Cathedral in the Pecherska Lavra built 1073 in Kiev, was destroyed. Moscow tried to blame the Germans for destroying this superb example of medieval Ukrainian architecture but it was proven to be the work of a Soviet bomb squad which had mined it before their retreat and later set it off killing Germans."
