Cutting mats are quiet expensive, so I'm glad you get a few years service out of them. Looking forward to the bonus video. Lovely cat btw😺

We don't get that kind of heat here in Northern Ireland thanks be to God. I'm no use with a rotary cutter anyway so tend to do a lot of cutting with scissors. Love the cats appearing in your videos Julie...so homely and friendly.

Thank you Julie. I store my cutting mats under the sofa to keep them flat but eventually have to save up for a new one when the cuts get too deep. I'm loving your tutorials and really want to start a wonky house wall hanging to hang on the wall beside my real doll house. I just love yours. Will be watching next time. Stay safe.

Hi Julie, yep I used to think that a self-healing mat was just that and lasted forever! Good tips, thanks, Kathy xxx

Hi Julie, my mat had a warped corner. Eventually I just cut out the corner, so at least the rest of the mat lies flat! Can't afford a new one! I don't live in a hot climate so can't use the sun. I did try putting it under a mattress for several weeks but nothing happened lol. Love Clancy-I have had a tabby cat around all my life, they are so good-tempered. Thanks

Thanks JoAnne for the comment and for watching. I love cats and also had a long haired tabby when Clancy was young and he was in a depression for months when the other had to be put down as he used to follow him everywhere.

Hi Julie just been to spotlight and bought a big cutting mat omg what a difference it makes to cutting straight instead of struggling to get it correct. Don’t know how I managed before could watch you all day learnt so much . But still haven’t got the hexes stamp yet.

I am so glad you got a new cutting mat. I can't wait to get myself a new one.....having said that I have no fabric to cut yet so it is a moot point. Thanks for the comment.

Thanks for the comment Susan. I know what it is like to have to wait to save for a cutting mat.

Thanks for the tip. My mat got warped where I was setting my coffee cup(I stopped doing that). Between cleanings I use a piece of cotton batting and dry scrub in a circular motion. It tangles the fibers and pulls a lot of the martial out of the grooves.

My mat warped, I live in Florida, USA . I left my mat on the concrete patio for 3 day 100°. It's flat as new. 😊 thanks

Hey everyone, I was just watching a tips video and they said you can put your self-healing cutting mat into cool water, lying flat for about 20 mins. And then it will become soft and sealed. Anyway everyone has an opinion so I did a bit of checking ( i don't have a mat to try on) and it seems that it is the thing to do because of the way its constructed. I would think most people may not have the correct size receptacle but maybe lying it on flat ground and sprinkling it would work. Has anyone tried this? And your cat is gorgeous, I have an oldman cat too he is 17 :)

Thank you for that idea Alison. I did a lot of research when I first warmed my mat over 3 years ago and hadn't heard of that.....not that I have anything big enough to put a large mat in anyway. I would also be interested to hear if anyone has done this way with any success. I love older cats.....I am a cat and not a kitten person and mine are 16 and 14.

HI SO, I AM A REVISED BEF=GINNER SEWER AND I AM TAKING SEWING CLASS. WELL I USED MY NEW IRON WITH A TOWEL TO IRON MY T-SHIRT SLEEVES. NOW I SEE A SIGN THAT SAID DO NOT PUT HEAT ON THE CUTTING MAT, SO NOW IT LOOKS LIKE A COUPLE OF SHORT HUMPS. HOW CAN I MAKE IT FLAT AGAIN?😁

You have 2 options...leave the mat on a flat surface in the sun on a really hot day and hope that it melts flat.....or buy a new one. They have got silly cheap in the past few years and have gone from $100 for the largest ones to under $30.

Uggg to much talking about how they got that way. Next time we dont need details on how they got warped, just get to the point.
