Thanks for the video my friend, I’m a 78 year old Englishman & just bought a 2006 MT03/660, having a whole lotta fun & now I’m retired ,looking forward to doing my own maintenance, I too will be subscribing & looking out for more of your content, good luck bro’ 🇬🇧🙏
I've had the XT660X but had to sell because of moving... I'm actually considering this one until I get (or find) my dream bike.. I also have the same manual ;)
Very good video and helpful,do you know what kind of tools i will need to adjust the steering wheel? I'm a new rider and just bought the mt03 660 as my first bike but something feels off
00:36 "I will put a high-performance plug"... GREAT but I would like to know what BRAND & MODEL did you put & are you happy with the change ? Did you use an Iridium spark plug ??? Thanks again for your UA-cam; I can tell from it that you're a perfectionist... I would love to have a mechanic like you.
In all honesty i dont know the brand on my mind now i have used the same brand on meny bikes and it worked perfectly every time.I buy them localy for years now but i never gave 2 cents about full spec of the spark plug. You are right i shuld look into that. Thank you for the genuine comment much appreciated mate🤜
On top of the oilfilter housing there is a small bolt. After changeing the oilfiter open this one and after starting the engine observe that oil is coming out here.
Two years later... I'm still riding my 2010 660 MT03 & I'd like to know if your fuel tank was empty when you unplug all the fittings under it & remove it from the bike ? Thanks for your answer 😀😀😀 PS: So far, I changed the battery once but without removing the tank, just lifting it as you did at the beginning with a wooden bar to keep it lifted.
Have you tried riding it with the top of the inner tube aligned with the top bracket? The service manual recommends aligning the top of the inner tube with the table. But they all come out with the top a little higher.
@@dragonmodgarage2773 I'm referring to the inner tubes of the front suspension. The manual says that the top of the tube should be aligned with the table, but none of them come like that. They all come about 3 millimetres or more above the table. Notice that on yours the inner tube cover is well above the table.
When you changed the oil and replaced the filter shouldn't you bleed the filter housing from the top bolt of the filter cover, when you started the engine? I believe it is the same with the XT engine, your manual should say so. Correct me if I am wrong. Top video btw,
Havent read anything about that in manual and the top bolt is case bolt so i dont think it is ment to be done that way.I did blead it b4 from the botom bolt but i never felt that was air coming out.Maybe the oil system is different on mt.IDK😅
May I suggest something: When I remove the petroltank I always store it high. When put on the ground there is always the risk of something falling on it.
Thank you,yes you are right but i bought and replaced it with new unit 2 weeks later😉i also did not blead the air on camera from filter housing and that shuld be done as well.
Awesome video, thank you! I have the mt03 is so much fun, but the headlight and high beam (light) only work when i am driving and they keep on vibrating. Do you know why?
Hi, mate. Does yours usually melt the oil scale when you ride hard? Mine throws a lot of oil in the air filter box. It gets dirty on the scale and drips on the floor.
hello friend! your bike is too beautiful, congratulations! I speak here from Brazil, I would like to know if you can easily get parts for MT 03 2008 where you live? Here in Brazil this bike only sold in 2008, now it's hard to find some spare parts. I have an all original one and I was wanting to change the top frame of the panel but I can't find it anywhere.
Here i have yamaha distribution centar so original parts are not the problem. The aftermarket parts however you can find in some europe internet stores but shiping always cost arm and a leg....
Awesome bike, I own one myself and was thinking about it wrapping a few parts in vinyl as yours!. Did you wrap it yourself? If so, how difficult was it?
Ye i wraped it with techwrap carbon and red.Now red is thiner so it is easyer to work with where carbon is much thicker and difficult to work with.If you havent wrap b4 mate id say take single color for the first time and you will see how it goes. Also you will need 50x120 to wrap the whole bike👊(with no mestakes ofc) Tank needs to be wraped in 4 sections as well if you check out my detailing video you will see where the lines are.
@@dragonmodgarage2773 ragazzo, qui in Brasile non hanno pezzi nuovi, quando lo troviamo usato e come hai detto lì e costa un occhio! @alainremi267 no it does not need to be empty,it won't leak when you disconnect it.

minarelli engine, is a dry sump design and you have to bleed the oil

@@dragonmodgarage2773 This is more than the manual recommends, that is 3.1 with filter or 3.4 at most. And your bike doesn't spill oil out. Curious! 🤔
When removing the fuelhoes from the fueltank is there a stop to prevent the fuel from puring out of the tank? Or was the tank already empty?
Yes there is a stop if you pop it out the fuel wont come out.but try not to do it with the full tank
Bonjour, combien de litre je dois mettre 3litre ??
Pour l'huile elle prend combien de litre cordialement
I have 2021 MT-03 but this one is completely different and engine is 660cc?

3l oil and then you pur untill the level is in margins, about 1 l of coolent
