Hey unfortunately I sold the trailer and I’m running an infinity trailer. I can say that it all comes down to your route, the rate in your lane and how many trips you can do realistically. With my infinity 6 car I do two runs out of state and two days local and I make between 5 and 6k. This is within a 150 air mile radius. Cars in my lane are usually $225-$250. Hope that help.
@@elitecarriers7151 I was curious why you would sell the Coffman five car and get the infinity trailer I’m ready to buy a trailer. Not sure which one to get this trailer looked really nice the Coffman one
I also have a used car dealership that’s the reason that I bought the tractor I bought the tractor to be multipurpose just in case the car business got slow. I can use the tractor to haul reefer van or flatbed and advice would be greatly appreciate it.
Thats where the truck payload comes into play. Trailer has its max amount of weight allowed per axle rating then the truck takes its weight allowed on its axle. In this video I believe I was well under weight in my GCVWR.
@elitecarriers7151 one more question, would you or can you put 2500s (trucks) on this trailer? Ive been using a low boy 46ft Appalachian for these style vehicles
With cars usually 12’5”. With suv and trucks you can be at 13’6” or more. It’s important to carry a height stick when running any double level trailer.
Hi There, I am about to start working for a car hauling company. Quick question: I have a class a CDL been driving flatbeds and dry vans for 6 months. Very little money as a company driver. I also have a new 2022 Ram 3500 high output diesel dually, aisin trans. at 4000 miles. I located a Mini 5 that I’d like to rent. I will work under another company. I read your other comments, I understand that even you rear park all cars, it may and will still be overweight on the rear axle of the truck. And my tradesman model doesn’t even come with airbags, I hear it’s a must to protect the truck, which I plan to install an aftermarket airbag after hauling 3-4 cars (not 5) after I make some money. My question, do you know if it’s possible to register the rear axle of the truck ar a higher weight when buying the apportioned plates? Meaning, my rear axle says 9750 lbs at the door sticker. Is it possible to register that at a higher weight limit? Or do you have any recommendations for me? I will be doing OTR, not local so I can’t afford any mistakes 🙃
Hey let me just say that it’s important to check with your local state’s office to confirm the can’s and cannot’s. Now from experience, you can register all the way to 60,000 apportion with what’s considered to be a tractor with a single axle as long as your trailer has 2 axles. The issue is that there is a disconnect between your registered weight and the weight physical weight. When a DOT officer inspects you he will see that you are below your registered weight. The next thing he will do is check your max weight allowed on your axle based on your truck’s GVW. If you are over that’s a ticket. He will then move on to tire rating, if you exceed the weight allowed on your tire then he will write you a ticket for that. He will also check your truck’s combined weight (just for the power unit) if that’s over the 14,000gvw he will write you a ticket. I know this is not answers that favors you but It is what I’ve seen and experienced. You also have to consider length laws if you have a bed on your truck. Certain states you can be lover length. My recommendation is based on both safety and what’s going to save you a lot of headache. Sell the truck or trade it in for a 5500 or single axle tractor if you want to remain small. On the 3500 you will burn through tires faster as a result of overweight with the mini 5. I hope that this helps. Also I wouldn’t recommend registering at the max number you can because you’ll pay more per state. You’ll never be over 45k. That’s where most guys register their 5500 with mini 5.
I believe that you will be over your axle weight even with everything facing the rear and you’ll be pretty limited. The best solution would be to run a 5500 or a small semi.
@@elitecarriers7151 hey man what is the MPG on loaded 5500 with 5 cars? i get 9.5-11 on my 3500 3 car hauler Gross weight under 30,000 and looking to update the trailer

Max tow has very low gears ⚙️ 4.89. The regular 5500 I am currently driving has 4.44 ⚙️ and I get 7.8 with an infinity 6 car trailer. Hope this helps.
@@elitecarriers7151 damn, thanks for the answer. I personally hate diesels but it seems I don't really have a choice. I don't understand why they only make the hybrid RAMs with the V6 tho. A Hemi hybrid would be insane for that kind of job imho
I am fine with having it on the lower deck for cars with enough clearance. For lower cars or cars that are faulty brakes I would put on the top deck. When you have the ramps on the top deck most times you have to reset them after each vehicle. That takes time.

My recommendation to you would be to work for someone else’s company for experience and learning the way around the truck. There’s no better way to learn than with a great instructor by your side. Otherwise there’s a lot of trial and error. Once you understand that this is what you would like long term then spend the money to get into the business. I hope that this advice help in your journey.
