This song is the reaction of the band about the media called nazis. The means of the title is LEFT 2 3 4, you can imagine what is the song about.

The song lyrically uses the fact of the human heart being on the left side of the chest, meaning the band's hearts beat there too, to metaphorically counter accusations of neo-nazism against them. But because they're Rammstein, the title "Links 2 3 4" refers to the rhythm by which soldiers march in Germany ("left 2 3 4, left 2 3 4", etc.), playing with the military imagery for irony's sake.
yeah, well, the heart is not on the left side. it's in the middle but pointing left.

@@EarlRedclaw It's not that creative of a statement and I haven't heard Rammstein mention that they were inspired by Brecht in that way, so I wouldn't necessarily assume it, but if you have a source for that, I'd be really interested to look into that.
@@EarlRedclaw The only song by Rammstein I know of to be linked to Brecht would be "Haifisch", as it pays hommage to the German classic "Mackie Messer", but concerning "Links 2 3 4", I wasn't really able to find anything...
Like others mentioned already this song is about people and the media accusing Rammstein to be right-winged. This especially applies to the German mass media who often see Rammstein as a nuisance in the German music scene because of their provoking lyrics and just the style of the band as a whole with Till rolling the "R" when he sings which is similar to how famous Nazi leaders like Hitler, Goebbels, etc. talked in the past during their speeches. Before the first single "Deutschland" from the new Rammstein Album last year came out they released a small teaser which showed the band dressed as Jews waiting to be executed. The German media immediately picked up their pitchforks and torches blaming the band to have no respect for the victims of the Holocaust but when the full video dropped it showed the entire history of Germany and not just the Nazi era and they also had a black woman representing Germany in the video. It just shows how insanely good Rammstein are at exposing people :) But back to this song. The title "Links 2 3 4" is derived from the military who use this as a chant for themselves while marching similar to "Left Right Left" so it has a double meaning with the other meaning obviously being that the band is denying everything that has to do with right-wing politics and instead explain that they are left-winged.

The original music video is pretty cool, it plays on the marching theme by showing a story about ants marching to war against beetles who attacked their hive.
The intro always cracks me up because the clap makes my brain expect louder audio and then the voice is comparatively quiet xD

If you wanna understand why Till was covered in blood, you should watch the entire concert, because that blood came from "Mein Teil" perfomance.
Links 2-3-4, is a song they wrote for the album Mutter after many bad reviews on USA who said Rammstein were Nazis just because Till's pronunciation. In German the "R" doens't pronounce is like a mute word, like the H in spanish, but Hitler did pronounce the R, becausa in that way his words has more powerful meaning, and that is what Till does on Rammstein and Lindemann as well (Just singing, not speaking) and due to that, they thought Rammstein and Till specially were Nazis, so the came out with "Links 2-3-4" a song who talks about his political possition.
Sehnsucht is also fun with a "lovely" start, live of course! (sadly not the official vid)

"Links 2,3,4", "Sonne", "Du Hast" and "Du Riechst So Gutt" are probably their 4 biggest earlier hits, so I think next step could be "Du Riechst So Gut". There is an official live video like the ones you been reacting: Du Riechst So Gut (Live at Hellfest 2016).

Their front female singer is really great : Sandra Nasic !! There are several songs to recommend : Lord of the Boards You can't stop me Rain ( slow) Open your eyes or the cover from the 80's hit : Big in Japan. Don´t remember if i wrote the same to another reaction of you but anyway. At some point Rammstein discovered that you can make up with instant coffee. According to concentration, black to red spots appear, which looks like dirt or blood Flake was hyper nervous all the time during a tour. What did he forget ? That he was made up with lots of coffee in the evening during every concert 😂 - Maybe the reason why he needs a treadmill 😵😤🤗🤣
I never liked techno or synthesizers and I couldn't accept them much in metal. Flake changed my mind 100%. Great reaction

If I remember correctly Till and Paul say in the making off video for "Mein Teil" that they often like use instant coffee powder for that bloody smear look.
You should check out the making off videos (they have english subtitles) even if you cant react to them because of the rammstein copyright claims :D

But people has their opinions about RAMMSTEINs lyrics and so on . For me, I LOVE THEM !! I have seen RAMMSTEIN 10 times here in Scandinavia :) Yesterday at my job, i started at RAMMSTEINS first ever released song and til the last last released song, and i listened to the live albums to :) I had so much energy thru the day :) i really recommend see RAMMSTEIN live :)

Yes it's Till's blood...before the song he cut himself with razor several times, to start the bleeding while he sing.
As others here wrote already it's their reaction because media tried to give them a Nazi image... These people completly ignored the fact that they are coming out of the Punk scene of East Berlin respectively East Germany what makes it a completly ridiculous comparison. For me a great way of them to react to that. I guess the problem for media is that they just do what thay want and that they do things exiclusively in the way they want to do it not following any public expectations excapt the expectations of their fans. That makes them untouchable and unique and that is - for me - the reason I love them.
That is one of their Encore songs... When they come back on they do that March thing I could did in the beginning this pair show... the song was an encore

This song is special. Its a message to the media. the media back days wanted to locate Rammstein to the political right. But they made clear with this song that thier heart beats on the left - even they usaly dont see things with left or rigt - they hate to use this. (edit: sorry for my englisch)

What does the crowd shouts after Till says "Links"? For me it sounds like "Heil" but I'm pretty sure that's not it...or is it but in a sarcastic way? the song is a political statement basicly. rammstein always had (and still has) a reputation of being a right wing band so they put out this song.
"Sie wollen mein Herz am rechten Fleck
, Doch sehe ich dann nach unten weg, Da schlägt es links" which roughly translates to " they want my heart in the right place (its a pun in german too), but i look down, it beats left" . the marching vibe and is intentional as well. the offical video is a animated video with ants. (rammstein come from former east germany)
