Alcoholism both sides of family. My parents didn’t drink, but I was saved from alcohol, ocycontin and heroin addiction. 15 years of drinking and drugging. Thank you Jesus for finding myself and finding you again.

I personally don’t drink alcohol at all because I used to be an alcoholic & the Bible clearly says not to drink to drunkenness. I feel people use the excuse to drink because Jesus turned water into wine, but I don’t think most people understand how water was unsafe to drink back then
Whatever America overindulges in should be a red flag for believers. Social Media, Tee Vee, Eating, Drinking, Mind Altering Drugs, Intoxicating Drink, material possessions and sexy stuff come right to mind. Walk unencumbered. Travel extremely light. Sounds counter cultural to me.
Yes, that is the spirit of Christianity! As Paul said that while all things may be permissible, they may not be beneficial to the purposes of God! And he further added to even avoid being associated with the destructive and ungodly habits of the world, in speech and deed. Yes, if one is truly led by the Spirit of God as Jesus was, it would never, ever lead them to drink or drugs, or even tattooing their body, immodest clothing, gambling, scratch off tickets, listening to pop music, watching the world's filthy godless movies, TV, etc... Anyone who argues against Christians drinking alcohol is going to have a hard time squaring that belief with the fact that Christ Himself drunk wine on occasion(Luk. 7:34) and He commanded Christians to drink wine as part of the new Passover ceremony(Matt. 26:27-29). Seems pretty strange that nobody in the Bible preached against drinking alcohol at all if that was supposed to be something Christians were to stay away from.
@@phil-goodthat's a good point, cultures where vine is treated like as you mentioned, knows how to handle it ( I would compare it a bit to peace pipe ceremonies with tobacco for indigenous people of America), but cultures which are not "design" for it, better to avoid, specially, if family trends are negative, cough medicine and other natural syrop contain alcohol and is good for cold and soar throat, but even this might be abused by tortured soul ( tormented or oppressed), I don't think anyone gets to drinking excessively or taking drugs same way, if their life is really in balance and they know Lord first hand, it's always product of some unresolved problems, in our culture we tend to have too much pressure to achieve materially, and it's getting harder, we are isolated in society and this all brings many ways bad habits can develop as cry for help....if would be more real churches ( cause for sure there's some minorities) ppl would in those communities help each other, but unfortunately is more about prestige, wealth, showing off then real services for brethren....why not talk about this too???
A kings mother's advice to her son. It is in the Bible! It is not for Kings to drink wine! The reason stated is it clouds the mind and impares judgment. So there, take that! New wine is not as weak as grape juice, but theres hardly any alcholhol in it. that was the drink of choice. My husband was a pediatrician. There were few cases of child abuse that were not alcholhol rrelated. Many can " hold" the stuff until they can't. And mess up their lives. But prohibiting its use as in prohibition just cemented organized crimes hold on this country. It is a nasty problem. From one who enjoys not being the life of the party.

God’s people should use wisdom and discernment. Alcohol has been a destructive force in MANY marriages, homes and individuals’ lives. Alcohol consumption causes excessive sinning: Ephesians 5:18 - And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; There’s NO good reason for Christians to drink alcohol. Just stay away - best advice.
I am a Christian. Abused alcohol for years. I kept praying to Jesus to help me stop when I'd wake up in the middle of the night with the shakes and a pounding heart, promising Him I would stop if He would just get me thru the night! Of course I didn't keep that promise and continued to drink. The evening of May 15, 2023, I had drank so much over the course of a week that I had an alcohol withdrawal seizure. I spent 3 1/2 days in the hospital. Having that seizure was the scariest thing I've ever been thru. I believe that God taught me a lesson and gave me a second chance! I will NEVER touch another drop of alcohol - I don't even crave it or think about it anymore! Praise Jesus! ❤🙏
Nothing is wrong with having a drink…the BIBLE clearly says not to be a drunken…some folks can handle a drink, some cannot. Alcohol has ruined many lives. I know that I can’t have much wine….it effects me in a very negative way…🙏🙏❤️
Yes, Deuteronomy 14:26 shows that you can enjoy alcohol "strong drink" before the Lord and 1 Timothy 5:23 shows that wine can be good for you if you aren't feeling well. With that said, do not be a drunk or drink to get drunk. That stupor is not what the Lord wants for believers and as he lays out in this video, it can cause others to stumble.

I found an unopened can of beer yesterday walking home from church... It was in the street along the curb. I thanked God for this little gift. I took it home and washed it and put it in the fridge. Later I again thanked God for it as I poured it into a frozen jar. I struggle with financial issues due to living on disability. It was so good with salt and lime. It was something of substance in my belly.

A blessing of wine was prophesied as a heritage to the chosen people in Genesis 27:28: “May God give you heaven’s dew and earth’s richness - an abundance of grain and new wine [tirosh].” The Hebrew word tirosh, meaning “new wine,” is used in 38 places in the Old Testament. People sometimes conclude that this word means grape juice, or fresh-pressed juice of the vine. However, Hosea 4:11 states: “Old wine [yayin] and new wine [tirosh] take away their understanding.” Grape juice could not have this effect. Tirosh is an intoxicating wine if used in excess. However, Jesus Christ did drink oinos (wine) (Matthew 11:19; Luke 7:34). Jesus did not preach against the use of wine; instead he did like most other Jews of his day. He drank wine in moderation. In ancient times it was normally diluted with water for drinking, and was one of the principal beverages at that time (1 Timothy 3:3, 8, Titus 1:7). Sir. 31:25-28 - "Wine is like life if drunk in moderation." God created wine to make us glad, so we rejoice in heart, and have gladness of soul. Sir. 40:20 - "Wine gladdens the heart." Isaiah 25:6 - God will provide a feast of rich foods and choice wines. Amos 9:14 - God declares that His people shall plant their vineyards and drink their wine. Zech. 10:7 - God says that when He saves His people, their hearts shall be glad as with wine. 2 Mac. 15:39 - this verse also describes the pleasure of drinking wine. The point is that all God made is good, and we are called to enjoy His good gifts, including drinking wine, as long as we do so in moderation. And while we drink in moderation, the miracle that Jesus performed at the wedding feast at Cana suggests that we can have a second glass!😊😊
Having >a< drink is not an issue. Sipping a good brandy or scotch is only a problem for an alcoholic. HOWEVER, you should be >very< careful around whom you drink. You should never cause anyone to stumble.
I was! I drank a case a day and one fifty one rum. I never really was enjoying the taste. I got up to 318 lbs drinking and about 25 years ago enough was enough and praise God am 180 lbs normal and no desire or AA needed. I was done with it.
In the Bible, people drank wine. The controlled amount of alcohol for the right reason and place is allowed and discussed in the Bible. However, drunkenness is not. The bible clearly states drunkards will never enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Work out your salvation...if a glass of wine is too much then don't do it. If you can handle it then its no different then taking an aspirin to prevent clots but wine is more healthy for your body then meds that kill your liver
Well, there is Psalm 104. I have never been drunk, but I do enjoy a nip of liquor from time to time. It's a special thing usually a gift that I savour till it's gone. Then nothing again, till there is another gift, so that is like 2 bottles a year, birthday or Christmas, so I want it to last a while. I understand some folk have a problem with alcohol, so I tend to not drink in company. But I do savour every sip & thank God for the beautiful taste in much the same way as I appreciate a wonderful dessert. I'm a retiree now & it's been this way for me my whole adult life. Sure, I could just go buy any number of bottles, but then it wouldn't be a special gift. I guess that nobody who has had an experience with alcoholism is going to believe this, but that's their problem really.
Cannot stand heretics who try to say I cannot be a Christian or belong to Christ, because I enjoy a cold beer (in moderation and with thanksgiving), and also have a long-time hobby of to craft brewing my own brews. Yes. Everything in moderation. When alcohol controls you and makes you stumble, you should not drink. But even Christ provided a way for celebration and fellowship by making wine.

Some of us have a love for the ‘flavor’ of wine. It’s something to savor, not to drink in excess. A glass of wine with a steak or some cheese is really good. So in answer to your question for those that have a small amount of something because the flavor gives them joy, it’s the same as someone who drinks a coca Cola because they love the taste(and Coca Cola is full of junk…very unhealthy)I don’t drink liquor because I think it’s disgusting. Wonderful treatise on the subject. I have a similar background but some medical knowledge too. I am a person of strong faith. I wonder if alcoholism is a disease. Alcoholics metabolism is different. I went to children's aaa as a child and married into a family that included alcohol as an important ingredient in their diet. There is a difference between habitual drinkers and addicts.
The problem with alcohol, is the same problem with medication. Chemicals. One person maybe able to drink responsible and the alcohol kind of helps balance out their chemical balance so that they stay on even balance. I can't drink alcohol makes me sick, medications almost killed me, but I have been smoking marijuana since I was twelve go back through my life other than getting in trouble for having a joint on me two different times the only trouble I have gotten into is when I went a while without smoking. Helps slow me down. Is smoking for everyone no. No, knowing yourself, God and Christ is the key to all you do

Then I poured out my heart to the Lord for everything and I said, Lord please take it away or it will eventually kill me! That was 13 years ago. He took away my desire for alcohol. I never once had the cravings. I was a lost cause... BUT GOD!

Since God always stays the same, I stick with this. Not saying ur bible is lying, but rather, it's giving another truth that this version didn't point out. Urs says something about a wierd fire or perverted fire or sumthing? But then later speaks of the wine/drunkness, to which my bible also oncludes. However, mine specifically says ( Leviticus 10:01) those two sons put a strange incense to burn in the fire, which God commanded them not too, therefore becasue of that, he killed them wby consuming them in the fire. Their bodies were carried out later, so there was something physical left, however, they were killed by the fire for burning strange (whatever they made their incense out of) stuff which God commanded them not to. And just s side note, it's interesting how God has things for us that when we're doing them or focused on him and doing them in his name, it's actually encouraged. If u take him out of the picture, then it goes wrong/astray, to sin. Duetoronomy 14:26 (read the whole chapter to get the just and history of it all though) is proof of that, the only verse in the bible so far where God actually encourages his people to get uh, yeah, drunk lol, albeit, in HIS name. He says to get it, consume and rejoice. Perhaps that was only to be for that one time, or if more, to keep our mind on him and praise him during ur process but, yeah, I'd like to get ur opinion on that chapter and specifically that verse, if u don't mind. \O>
As I put out in other comment here, this teachings doesn't touch the essence of the problems, here's only talking about "rich ppls problems", but avoid sickness of our culture where is very strong emphasis on high achieving of material goods and real services for fellow human beings is lost, unfortunately even in churches, cause if not, it wouldn't be so much inequality... very rich can seat with very poor in same churches and never extend the help ( which is clearly required in the Bible...), Often lack of human connection causes ppl to get into excessive, compulsive behaviours ( so not just alcohol, but all sorts of habitual behaviours which are not good for body and soul) ppl feel isolated even in churches, cause they're not encourage to be vulnerable and share their problems, might be quite opposite and they know, they might be discouraged to have any problems, so that's has to be addressed, we all are not build the same and our savior knew it, therefore is lots of emphasis on helping the weak and poor, but who from attending this sermon or watching this video put their own wellbeing secondary to brother or sister in need?????? And not only some pet talk, but really what gospel teach us- give your last shirt from your back and house ppl in need ??? I bet it's far less than it should be in communities of belivers....

Paul recommended not to even involve yourself with the same habits as the heathen - tattoos, piercings, etc. because the genesis of those things and the desire for heathens to have them comes ultimately from the evil rebel spirit against God. Only you and God know the true reason behind your actions. Additionally, consider this scenario: you're out in public and enjoying a drink, even just one sip, when you notice someone struggling. From afar, you look to this person like you belong in this world. Remember that people are constantly observing us and we should strive to be a light, salt, and children of God. s important to pray and seek guidance from the Holy Spirit in making these decisions. Yes, if one is truly led by the Spirit of God as Jesus was, it would never, ever lead them to drink or drugs, or even tattooing their body, immodest clothing, gambling, scratch off tickets, listening to pop music, watching the world's filthy godless movies, TV, etc...

Anyone who argues against Christians drinking alcohol is going to have a hard time squaring that belief with the fact that Christ Himself drunk wine on occasion(Luk. 7:34) and He commanded Christians to drink wine as part of the new Passover ceremony(Matt. 26:27-29). Seems pretty strange that nobody in the Bible preached against drinking alcohol at all if that was supposed to be something Christians were to stay away from.

A kings mother's advice to her son. It is in the Bible! It is not for Kings to drink wine! The reason stated is it clouds the mind and impares judgment. So there, take that! New wine is not as weak as grape juice, but theres hardly any alcholhol in it. that was the drink of choice.
My husband was a pediatrician. There were few cases of child abuse that were not alcholhol rrelated. Many can " hold" the stuff until they can't. And mess up their lives. But prohibiting its use as in prohibition just cemented organized crimes hold on this country. It is a nasty problem.

I am a Christian. Abused alcohol for years. I kept praying to Jesus to help me stop when I'd wake up in the middle of the night with the shakes and a pounding heart, promising Him I would stop if He would just get me thru the night! Of course I didn't keep that promise and continued to drink. The evening of May 15, 2023, I had drank so much over the course of a week that I had an alcohol withdrawal seizure. I spent 3 1/2 days in the hospital. Having that seizure was the scariest thing I've ever been thru. I believe that God taught me a lesson and gave me a second chance! I will NEVER touch another drop of alcohol - I don't even crave it or think about it anymore! Praise Jesus! ❤🙏

Nothing is wrong with having a drink…the BIBLE clearly says not to be a drunken…some folks can handle a drink, some cannot. Alcohol has ruined many lives. I know that I can’t have much wine….it effects me in a very negative way…🙏🙏❤️

Yes, Deuteronomy 14:26 shows that you can enjoy alcohol "strong drink" before the Lord and 1 Timothy 5:23 shows that wine can be good for you if you aren't feeling well. With that said, do not be a drunk or drink to get drunk. That stupor is not what the Lord wants for believers and as he lays out in this video, it can cause others to stumble.

I found an unopened can of beer yesterday walking home from church... It was in the street along the curb. I thanked God for this little gift. I took it home and washed it and put it in the fridge. Later I again thanked God for it as I poured it into a frozen jar. I struggle with financial issues due to living on disability.
It was so good with salt and lime. It was something of substance in my belly.

A blessing of wine was prophesied as a heritage to the chosen people in Genesis 27:28: “May God give you heaven’s dew and earth’s richness - an abundance of grain and new wine [tirosh].” The Hebrew word tirosh, meaning “new wine,” is used in 38 places in the Old Testament. People sometimes conclude that this word means grape juice, or fresh-pressed juice of the vine. However, Hosea 4:11 states: “Old wine [yayin] and new wine [tirosh] take away their understanding.” Grape juice could not have this effect. Tirosh is an intoxicating wine if used in excess.
However, Jesus Christ did drink oinos (wine) (Matthew 11:19; Luke 7:34). Jesus did not preach against the use of wine; instead he did like most other Jews of his day. He drank wine in moderation. In ancient times it was normally diluted with water for drinking, and was one of the principal beverages at that time
(1 Timothy 3:3, 8, Titus 1:7). If a minister drinks, it should be in moderation
Matt. 26:27,29; Mark 14:23,25; Luke 22:17-18; 1 Cor. 11:25-27 - Jesus instituted the Eucharist using wine and commanded us to "do this in remembrance of me." We know that Jesus instituted the Eucharist at the Jewish seder meal, which required the use of wine. Yet some Protestant churches forbid drinking wine. Such a prohibition is not based on the Scriptures.
Luke 7:33-34 - God the Son drank wine and was accused of being a drunk. Are those Protestant churches that forbid the drinking of wine doing the same?
John 2:1-11 - Jesus' first miracle was turning water into wine which was drunk at the wedding at Cana. Wine is a symbol of the life of the Church, in both the Eucharist and, here, the sanctification of the sacrament of marriage. Gen. 14:18 - Melchizedek offers a bread and wine sacrifice, and Jesus is the Priest in the same manner. Heb. 5:6,10; 6:20; 7:15,17.
Gen. 27:25 - Isaac brought Jacob wine, and he drank, with God's favor.
Neh. 8:10 - Nehemiah commands the faithful to drink sweet wine to celebrate the Lord and His holy day.
Psalm 104:15 - the Psalmist writes that "wine gladdens the heart of a man." God gave us the fruit of the vine to enjoy.
Ecclesiastes 9:7 - "drink your wine with a merry heart, for God approves what you do."
Wisdom 2:7 - "Let us take our fill of costly wine and perfumes!"
Sir. 31:25-28 - "Wine is like life if drunk in moderation." God created wine to make us glad, so we rejoice in heart, and have gladness of soul.
Sir. 40:20 - "Wine gladdens the heart."
Isaiah 25:6 - God will provide a feast of rich foods and choice wines.
Amos 9:14 - God declares that His people shall plant their vineyards and drink their wine.
Zech. 10:7 - God says that when He saves His people, their hearts shall be glad as with wine.
2 Mac. 15:39 - this verse also describes the pleasure of drinking wine. The point is that all God made is good, and we are called to enjoy His good gifts, including drinking wine, as long as we do so in moderation. And while we drink in moderation, the miracle that Jesus performed at the wedding feast at Cana suggests that we can have a second glass!😊😊
Having >a< drink is not an issue. Sipping a good brandy or scotch is only a problem for an alcoholic. HOWEVER, you should be >very< careful around whom you drink. You should never cause anyone to stumble.
I was! I drank a case a day and one fifty one rum. I never really was enjoying the taste. I got up to 318 lbs drinking and about 25 years ago enough was enough and praise God am 180 lbs normal and no desire or AA needed. I was done with it.
In the Bible, people drank wine. The controlled amount of alcohol for the right reason and place is allowed and discussed in the Bible. However, drunkenness is not. The bible clearly states drunkards will never enter the Kingdom of Heaven. I have never been drunk, but I do enjoy a nip of liquor from time to time. It's a special thing usually a gift that I savour till it's gone. Then nothing again, till there is another gift, so that is like 2 bottles a year, birthday or Christmas, so I want it to last a while. I understand some folk have a problem with alcohol, so I tend to not drink in company. But I do savour every sip & thank God for the beautiful taste in much the same way as I appreciate a wonderful dessert. I'm a retiree now & it's been this way for me my whole adult life. Sure, I could just go buy any number of bottles, but then it wouldn't be a special gift.

Some of us have a love for the ‘flavor’ of wine. It’s something to savor, not to drink in excess. A glass of wine with a steak or some cheese is really good. So in answer to your question for those that have a small amount of something because the flavor gives them joy, it’s the same as someone who drinks a coca Cola because they love the taste(and Coca Cola is full of junk…very unhealthy)I don’t drink liquor because I think it’s disgusting. Wonderful treatise on the subject. I have a similar background but some medical knowledge too. I am a person of strong faith. I wonder if alcoholism is a disease. Alcoholics metabolism is different. I went to children's aaa as a child and married into a family that included alcohol as an important ingredient in their diet. There is a difference between habitual drinkers and addicts.
The problem with alcohol, is the same problem with medication. Chemicals. One person maybe able to drink responsible and the alcohol kind of helps balance out their chemical balance so that they stay on even balance. I can't drink alcohol makes me sick, medications almost killed me, but I have been smoking marijuana since I was twelve go back through my life other than getting in trouble for having a joint on me two different times the only trouble I have gotten into is when I went a while without smoking. Helps slow me down. Is smoking for everyone no. No, knowing yourself, God and Christ is the key to all you do

Regular wine can get a person quite drunk with three or four glasses of wine. Wine is much more effective at getting a person drunk than beer.

No. I used to drink about a bottle of wine every night. I was a slave to alcohol. Then I poured out my heart to the Lord for everything and I said, Lord please take it away or it will eventually kill me! That was 13 years ago. He took away my desire for alcohol. I never once had the cravings. I was a lost cause... BUT GOD!
The correct question is should Christians get drunk. Jesus drank wine and He sinned not ever, not even once!

22:38... No sir, I disagree with this. Everything else u said, backed with verses, I agree to/with, however, this portion, no, here's why (backed by verse). I have a KJV bible. Since God always stays the same, I stick with this. Not saying ur bible is lying, but rather, it's giving another truth that this version didn't point out. Urs says something about a wierd fire or perverted fire or sumthing? But then later speaks of the wine/drunkness, to which my bible also oncludes. However, mine specifically says ( Leviticus 10:01) those two sons put a strange incense to burn in the fire, which God commanded them not too, therefore becasue of that, he killed them wby consuming them in the fire. Their bodies were carried out later, so there was something physical left, however, they were killed by the fire for burning strange (whatever they made their incense out of) stuff which God commanded them not to.
And just s side note, it's interesting how God has things for us that when we're doing them or focused on him and doing them in his name, it's actually encouraged. If u take him out of the picture, then it goes wrong/astray, to sin. Duetoronomy 14:26 (read the whole chapter to get the just and history of it all though) is proof of that, the only verse in the bible so far where God actually encourages his people to get uh, yeah, drunk lol, albeit, in HIS name. He says to get it, consume and rejoice. Perhaps that was only to be for that one time, or if more, to keep our mind on him and praise him during ur process but, yeah, I'd like to get ur opinion on that chapter and specifically that verse, if u don't mind.

As I put out in other comment here, this teachings doesn't touch the essence of the problems, here's only talking about "rich ppls problems", but avoid sickness of our culture where is very strong emphasis on high achieving of material goods and real services for fellow human beings is lost, unfortunately even in churches, cause if not, it wouldn't be so much inequality... very rich can seat with very poor in same churches and never extend the help ( which is clearly required in the Bible...), Often lack of human connection causes ppl to get into excessive, compulsive behaviours ( so not just alcohol, but all sorts of habitual behaviours which are not good for body and soul) ppl feel isolated even in churches, cause they're not encourage to be vulnerable and share their problems, might be quite opposite and they know, they might be discouraged to have any problems, so that's has to be addressed, we all are not build the same and our savior knew it, therefore is lots of emphasis on helping the weak and poor, but who from attending this sermon or watching this video put their own wellbeing secondary to brother or sister in need?????? And not only some pet talk, but really what gospel teach us- give your last shirt from your back and house ppl in need ??? I bet it's far less than it should be in communities of belivers....

Beers now on average are 4.2 alcohol and that’s mostly light beers, there’s plenty out there that are 6.5 and above, with some as high as 10.

This applies to all Christians.. we are not in sin we are in Christ... Regardless of the infirmities of our flesh.. which we all have in some form or another. No flesh is justified before God.
