    Availability date estimate?

    Do you have any updates on the expansion battery pack availability? We had a T3 installed a few months ago and when we asked Tesla about he expansion pack to double our battery capacity, they did not know if that is something in the pipeline. Maybe you have some inside information?

      The expansion batteries are available in limited quantities, I don't have full pricing on the units at this time.

    Can tesla powerwall 2 be used we the powerwall 3? Or they are not compatible with each other

      @@DRIVERxPRx422 if I recall correctly the Powerwall 2 will be compatible in the future with the Powerwall 3 after a software update.

      @@DRIVERxPRx422 from my understanding there isn’t any technical limitations per say since it’s AC coupled, but you may need a newer Gateway.

    I want four of these but these 3rd party installers are over charging install of these.

      I haven’t seen anyone offering more than three in California. You might be better off working directly with Tesla, have you reached out to them? I’ve heard great things about their Powerwall installation services.

    So if you have the $450 switch do you still need the $1700 gateway 3?

    • @dalerolph
      @dalerolph  День тому

      If it's a standalone system then you're good with the Switch, if it's an add-on to an existing system you'll need a Gateway. Best to check with Tesla for your particular situation.

      I don’t have pricing on the unit just yet, but should have something in the coming months.

    The inverter model should be closest to the wall IMO. If you intend on expanding you'd have the PW3 with Inverter model prior to expansion. If you think I'm moving my two PW3s to make them further from the wall, you are wrong. I understand this is to provide panel access but seems short sighted.

      No, having the unit with the inverter on the front makes more sense for serviceability. What part has the highest potential failure rate on any solar battery system? The inverter. So putting the unit with the inverter first makes it easier and cost effective to swap it out with another unit if one had failed. Who knows maybe Tesla updates their Solar Inverter to a Hybrid Inverter and you could wire up your expansion batteries to an external unit if the inverter inside the main unit stopped functioning.

    Pointguard is a better product

      @dalerolph  3 місяці тому

      We have been monitoring the PointGuard product, we don’t dismiss its potential but there are a lot of products emerging in the storage space. We did interview with Rob during RE+ event and it was very insightful.

      The Powerwall is a great product but that’s understandable we all have a right to an opinion. There are a lot of emerging products so I’m confident you’ll find an alternative.
