1996 AFKN live broadcast atop Namsan Mountain Seoul

On June 20, 1996 we did a live broadcast atop Namsan Mountain in Seoul, Korea. Ironically we were fogged in and had no scenery to show. This clip shows how the communications people of 1st Sig Bde atop the Camp Morse portion of Namsan Mountain, do their work. The clip is capped off with a weathercast. This is all I have of the broadcast, sorry. This program is a work of the U.S. government and is in the public domain.

AFKN... 추억이다, 추억!
1990년대 초등학생이었는데 AFKN을 알았을땐 영어위성방송인줄 알았는데 국내 지상파 방송이었더군. 물론 운영주체는 주한미군.

I think that was aired few months after AFKN frequency swapped to UHF 34 (previously channel 2).

KATUSA yes... our cameraman at Yongsan was a nice KATUSA guy. Wish I could remember his name but he's probably in the credits.

I served in South Korea for AFKN News for one year after graduating the Defense Information School in Fort Meade, Maryland. The identifier for an Army Broadcast Journalist is 46Romeo or as I like to call them, Microphone Soldiers...
