I found your channel, and I've subbed as your goals are similar to mine.
One month ago I weighed 13 st 12lbs and I'm now 13 stone by no longer eating snacks, running , swimming, and weight trg. My park run times have come down from 30 + to 28. Long way to go, but I have new mindset to achieve goals
    I will watch your progress

Just come across your channel. Very balanced and sensible. Honest about where you've been and are currently and also your goals 70.1
Probably one of the best real life /expectations videos I've seen. I've subbed

Hi Marcus, I was just thinking the same about leg strength and heart rate, I'm 68 now and have trouble getting my Park Run heart rate up above 140 and I'm not puffing and blowing like I used to, legs feel dead, so can't push any harder, I've started doing hill work again to see if it helps, Great vid B.T.W enjoyed that, sounds like in a few months you will be back at the front of Park Run.

It's a tricky one this. I find that when I lose fitness, it is always at a muscular and neurological level first: I simply lose the ability to fire muscle groups in a coordinated way at speed. This affects me far more than the loss of cardiovascular fitness. You are right because I find that hill work, strides, leg strength work all helps. In time everything seems to click back into place. Good luck and keep on running!

Congratulations Kathryn on sub 40. I don't know what motivated the previous comment but luckily parkrun is a far more positive community, keep it up!

Great video - subscribed as well. Just embarking on my own return to running fitness, got about 4 mins to find over 5k, and around 2-3 stone to (try! and) shed. Be interesting to see how things pan out 👊

In order to become more aerodynamic I would say shave your head and become smoother into the wind.

@@johnspeakman1080 Not sure how old you are . But I have been running all my life was a 2.38 marathon runner. I now am 65 and I run 21 for 5k and win most of my age group . Do a lot of speed work and base mileage of 30 a week. Half mile time of 2.43 and mile time 5.54. I thought you did great . I have never seen a guy over 60 run 19 something and I have been in a lot of races. You must be in your 50s.
