Casting competition on the same show is a mistake that the Disney Channel would have never made. Disney would NEVER have casted Ariana Grande or Liz Gillies alongside Miley Cyrus on Hannah Montana. It would never happen. But Nickelodeon, either due to inexperience or incompetence, decided to cast actors who could potentially overshadow the main star. The reason why it was so easy for Miley, Selena and Demi to breakthrough was because there was no one else to compare them to. The problem with Victorious was that Victoria had competition right next to her. There are many other factors as well but that’s the main one. It’s really simple actually. I feel bad for Victoria. She was originally a Disney darling. She should have stayed with Disney. Victoria is the only reason Nickelodeon stayed relevant for as long as it did. Although every one of her recent releases has been great, I miss hearing some of her older style of singing with a much darker, chestier, less breathy sound. Unfortunately I feel like the industry was shifting away from that sound when she came on the scene to a brighter, sugary, more youthful sound. The same shift happened at Disney following the Selena/Miley/Demi era with singers like China Anne McClain, Bridgit Mendler, and Coco Jones who had really strong voices but didn’t have that bright and high sound that was becoming the new industry standard.
I honestly think the reason why her music never took off was because it was the same ol' sound that we heard from the other teen stars from Disney/Nick (Miley, Selena, Demi, the Jonas Brothers, Miranda) at the time. I think Victoria Justice is really talented, but just like Elizabeth Gillies, she is really good at acting rather than singing. Singers like Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez, though they’re all start as actors, they really re-invent their image for their singing career and try to stay away from child actor image they’re used to have. She should venture more in acting since she is one of a hella good actor imo.

I think she's not a pop star cause she doesn't have what it takes. Her voice isn't nice enough to appeal to enough people and her style isn't special. Her newer songs play around a lot with high notes that are softer and not in a mixed belt which doesn't sound good for her voice type. However, even her mixed belts don't sound pretty either. Her voice is just mediocre. There are singers like Selena Gomez who can't sing that well but their voices are nice.
Let's be honest here - Victoria may have the voice to be a pop star, but she doesn't have the charisma and personality to do so. Ariana, on the other hand, has a much more memorable voice, is far and away the better singer, and actually has the drive to see things through.

Although every one of her recent releases has been great, I miss hearing some of her older style of singing with a much darker, chestier, less breathy sound. Unfortunately I feel like the industry was shifting away from that sound when she came on the scene to a brighter, sugary, more youthful sound. The same shift happened at Disney following the Selena/Miley/Demi era with singers like China Anne McClain, Bridgit Mendler, and Coco Jones who had really strong voices but didn’t have that bright and high sound that was becoming the new industry standard.

We Make the Weekend was actually an unreleased song from Victorious. It wasn’t supposed to be on her album
The way by Ariana Grande came out and also all eyes were on Beyoncè at the time so nobody was caring about Victoria Justice
I honestly think the reason why her music never took off was because it was the same ol' sound that we heard from the other teen stars from Disney/Nick (Miley, Selena, Demi, the Jonas Brothers, Miranda) at the time. Had she did more R&B sounding Pop ala old school Britney & Christina or Justin Bieber like, she would've had more success like her co-star Ariana Grande did.

Gold is an amazing unreleased song and personally it’s the best choice for her to release it as a single and it’s the best song she has ever wrote in history.

it's a shame the way things ended up with columbia, im just glad she was able to get out of that bad contract and release music independently with no problems since sometimes these contracts can be hard to break or get out of

I think the problem was that Gold was too Nickelodeon. Comparable to Ariana’s Put Your Hearts Up. But it also seems like Victoria makes music for fun or a hobby almost. Wouldn’t bet on ever getting an actual album.

@@Andyy188 if she were to re-record the songs like taylor swift has done to get the rights back for her older albums or even bonnie mckee (co writer of teenage dream, hold it against me, part of me & more) her label back in 2013/14 shelf her 2nd album hot city, and athough she couldnt release bc of contracts/rights she found a way around it and re-recorded the songs and released the full album this year, i think it is possible but of course thats only if she wants to
I think Victoria Justice is really talented, but just like Elizabeth Gillies, she is really good at acting rather than singing. Singers like Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez, though they’re all start as actors, they really re-invent their image for their singing career and try to stay away from child actor image they’re used to have. She should venture more in acting since she is one of a hella good actor imo.

Victoria Justice was great as Tori on Victorious But If We're Being Honest Ariana Grande's Voice Stood Out The Most and Elizabeth The Girl That Payed Jade has an amazing voice as well, Victoria Just Doesn't Have that Star Factor to me......her voice has always been.....ok 🤷🏾♀️

I think she's not a pop star cause she doesn't have what it takes. Her voice isn't nice enough to appeal to enough people and her style isn't special. Her newer songs play around a lot with high notes that are softer and not in a mixed belt which doesn't sound good for her voice type. However, even her mixed belts don't sound pretty either. Her voice is just mediocre. There are singers like Selena Gomez who can't sing that well but their voices are nice.

Let's be honest here - Victoria may have the voice to be a pop star, but she doesn't have the charisma and personality to do so. Ariana, on the other hand, has a much more memorable voice, is far and away the better singer, and actually has the drive to see things through.
