They all did however defend Bing in statements given after Gary's book was released. As we now know from research and interviews conducted with the eldest son, not only did he not really write the book, he couldn't remember claims in the book when reinterviewed years later in 9 hrs of taped conversations. Mary explained why the book was written and made more scandalous after she dined with Gary after it's release $$$$

    "White Christmas" is a terribly sad song; but remember Christmas is a terribly sad season as we recall parents, grand-parents, uncles, aunts, relatives, friends have died and so we no long enjoy their physical presence, even as we enjoy their memory. Just look at the recent Judy Garland movie; we don't remember her as she was in her last cadaverous days, we remember her as the vibrant immensely talented movie star, performer she was in her movie roles.

    • @mitzymoo3151
      @mitzymoo3151 Місяць тому

      @@crystalship9900 Oh way true .. Bing's best bio writer spoke to approx 250 people who knew Bing...including 9 hrs of taped conversations with the son who supposedly wrote the book. He was taken back through his book and could not recall writing things as he had been drinking throughout this period and the co-author verified this when contacted. The book was pieced together. As to the other book, the main source of info for that book was SO INCENSED at the distortions in it he kept his own journal to counteract the claims. This books claims were traced back and found to be half truths and no truths for the most part. So sad that Bing's reputation was so tarnished and so unfairly. Of the hundreds interviewed most loved him. He was mainly an absentee father during his first marriage .. the busiest guy in Hollywood particularly during the war years. His first wife suffered from extreme shyness and loneliness from Bing's career taking him away so much and suffered from addiction she struggled with throughout the marriage. Bing consistently tried to get her help with this...Phillip described her as the main disciplinarian as well as the various nannies who were employed. Dixie caught one nanny being cruel and threw her out of the house, Dixie was very loving and honest, but unavailable to her boys during certain periods. Both Bing and Dixie loved their boys, but underlying problems caused issues. Bing's absences, Dixie's addiction, harsh nannies, bullying at school for being the sons of a superstar, petty jealousies amongst the boys and expectations of keeping them grounded with good work ethics while surrounded by luxury. Maybe read what the boys got up to that Bing had to bail them out of ... Some things are jaw dropping. Plus all the other three sons gave defensive quotes regarding their father after the books release and Mary spoke of Gary apologising to the family regarding his book afterwards, unfortunately the damage was done.

    lying brother said he was; he was strict, but my father never beat us black and
    blue, and my brother Gary was a vicious, no-good liar for saying so. I have
    nothing but fond memories of Dad, going to studios with him, family vacations
    at our cabin in Idaho,
    boating and fishing with him. To my dying day, I'll hate Gary for dragging Dad's name through the mud.
    He wrote Going My Own Way out of greed. He wanted to make money and knew
    that humiliating our father and blackening his name was the only way he could
    do it. He knew it would generate a lot of publicity. That was the only way he
    could get his ugly, no-talent face on television and in the newspapers. My dad

    Wouldn't be Christmas to me without watching "White Christmas" or "Holiday Inn", or playing the album known as "White Christmas" (1945) which epitomizes the Holiday and the forties as well. It stayed number one on the charts for 30 years until Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" knocked it down a few notches. My mom was a huge fan, and when she passed on St. Nicholas Day of 2018, we had the funeral home play "Faith of Our Fathers" (by Bing) at the service. I don't know what to make of his sons criticisms of their dad after he passed...if I love a singer, actor, ball-player...I generally love them for their work. I know that none of us are perfect, and we are all sinners. I also know that redemption is available to all, through the saving Grace of Jesus Christ.

      Sue Burton I had heard this about Bing Crosby for years & always suspected that he must have been abused as a young boy himself. I’ve done no research on this so have no direct knowledge of it & even, if true, it would NEVER EXCUSE IT. Everyone must take control of their own life & make the right choices as everyone will be held accountable in this life or the next for making the wrong ones.

    The record single of White Christmas that came out in 1942 is not the true first record single. Originally, the song first appeared in a six disk record album of The Holiday Inn. The six disk album came out months before the record single did. And on one of those disks from that six disk album IS White Christmas. The b side is Let's Start the New Year Right (which is the same b side as the regular record single that came out after the six disk album did). I know this because I unknowingly at first bought the record single that came from that album and learned that it was released on June 1, 1942. Then I found out that the regular record single was released a few months later.
