With multiple animation studio scandals releasing this week it seems evidently clear that NO company is safe. DreamWorks are culling their animators. Sony is crunching their workers. And now we've come to learn that Disney Pixar were overworking their creative team through Inside Out 2 and Elio, and going one step further, Lionsgate have ACTUALLY hired AI to replace their storyboard artists and VFX teams. It's been a concern for a while, and now it is actually happening. Scandals, the destruction of the workers making art, and it seems the nobody is clear. What are the repercussions of these awful practices? What will be the response in a few months time? And what does this mean for the industry as a whole? The big question is how much are people going to be willing to take? Is This The Fall of Mainstream Animation...?

...This is actually happening. Real jobs are being taken by AI, and the human jobs are overworking hell. What a time for the animation industry...
How far do you think this AI replacement work could possibly go...? I can't believe it's actually coming to this..
hopefully not farther than this
Very...very bad
AI is getting better and better over time. It will happen. the worst of all will come through. and don't call me a doomer, ya know what happened to artists?
Are you or anyone here familiar with the Watchman River channel? He covers on this topic quite a bit.
These are the same people who flatout told Coal miners who were losing their jobs to "learn to code" while promoting China's coal power plants. So when they lose their jobs after kicking out Lasitor for being "to huggy" then most people are simply over BIG ANIMATION and are willing to simply not care about their social justice agendas. More simply put they have hated on Americans for far to long, that people who have to work 50 even 70 hours to get by simply do NOT CARE about how poorly they are treated for making moving picture. Let them be starving artists once again while other people struggle to put food on the table and feed themselves.
Animators have always been treated a lil poorly compared to how damn hard their job is.
A lil is QUITE an understatement, but overall I agree

This makes me even more happy that Nintendo has a huge stance against AI. They’re so big yet care about their artists

I worked as a crisis hotline operator for a period of time, and while the company I worked for didn't use it, many people use AI for SUICIDE HOTLINE CALLS!? Personal human connection is important for those in crisis and being met with AI shows reports of higher rates since "not even one real person cares if I stay" since AI is being pushed

Thats insane! They tried AI for a number that gave medical advice but they ended up removing it as it was so bad.
@@NotAnotherKuromi That's terrible

So? I talk to AI all the time instead of talking to real people. What's the difference? So what if the AI isn't a meat bag monkey?
@@HermitKing731the ai does not have human experience. you would be talking to someone who is guaranteed to not understand what you’ve been through. you may be fine with that, but there are plenty of people out there who would feel even more alienated and depressed than before when they just wanted some help.
@itz_daniel7144 Exactly
An AIs response to
"I was abused" may be "I'm sorry that happened, what happened?" and the person may not want to relive the experience and may need a more comforting response
I'm 17 and terrified of the future of ai. I really wanted to become a professional screenwriter in the future too.
@@kajetancedro7167 I would recommend the Watchman River channel.
Same same
Thing is the major companies take alot of money to make these things. They WANT to cut costs BECAUSE these major companies are owned by share owners and people are taxed through the nose and have to pay high taxation and a high cost of living. Basically you are better off doing it all on your own. You will have to be a hustler.
If you’re worried about AI-written screenplays, then you must not be very good anyway.
I’m 20 and currently doing it as a side gig until I actually actually can do it full time. I’ve had a few scripts get picked up or sold but none have gone anywhere. I’ve assisted in writing a few that did get made, but nothing bigger than indie or a film festival short film. It’s rough but go for what your dream is man it’s possible. keep writing no matter what.
As someone who has a major in graphic design, I definitely do not support any art made by AI and I’ll never use AI in any of my artwork. AI art just looks soulless and lacks the passion and work graphic artists put into their artwork or their work for their clients. I’m still content to use the common graphic design tools like Adobe Illustrator (not the AI I’m referring to, but the one that should be used for creating graphic artwork) and Canva for my work and my projects.
No matter what anyone says, know that you are not alone, my friend. I also refuse to use any AI in my artwork.
THIS. I hate how AI is used as a full-on working habit. I rather do art techniques made by hand than using AI for art. It’s so depressing that some companies switch for these soulless tools as “creativity”.
Currently studying and getting my Bachelor's in graphic design. I feel *foul* when we have projects that require us to use AI to make images. Thankfully they are few and far between, but I hate it. I'm told that it is only to be used as a tool, a placeholder image, but I know that 9 times out of 10 the customer is going to be happy with the 'placeholder' and not want to wait for a real artist to do the image. That's another job taken away from an artist hunting for work. AKA me.
I will 100 percent always take the 'longer' route to make an image myself rather than having an AI feed me a mangled corpse of other people's work. Hell even Adobe Stock can't be trusted anymore, since they now have a section that is *just* AI, and it makes me so mad that this is being promoted rather than the artists that use Adobe in the first place.
You make one critical mistake by calling AI slop "art". Don't even give it that much credit
Wild how literally zero creative industries are in a remotely okay place at the moment. Animation? Nope. Video games? Nope. The list goes on.
Really sucks to be born in the find out century
The one good place right now is the indie community, for both games and shows/movies
I’m serious, shows like The amazing digital circus, murder drones, lackadaisy, etc. they brought back my hope in the animation industry
If Hollywood start using Ai, I will outright stop watching any movies, I'm dead serious........

What are you going to call your game studio?
@johnnysparkle the name is Gold Rush Interactive. And by game studio it's not really a traditional game studio. I'm currently working on a LEGO/Knex Competitor and an arcade style machine. I am trying to serve some niches that are being overpriced from a lack of competition. The overall theme of my 4 products is going to be very cohesive and fun. And much cheaper than the competitors. I think we'll see a rise in indie animation because of this, and it's really going to show the big wigs, that real art beats out paint by numbers trash every time.
I will add, however, that no romance in Inside Out 2 really helped it, and that more films should have zero romance. It'll allow the actual plot to take center stage, rather than the often forced romance (Pacific Rim is another good example of no romance)
depends on the movie tbh. Like, for Elemetal it was the entire point of the movie.
But yeah, any element of a plot shouldn't be forced in for views. or merch (I'll never forgive Clod's existence)
Isn't the only reason that IO2 had no romance to speak of because the love interest was another girl
Do you really think Indie Animation will save the industry? Well, there’s this video I found. It's on a channel called Marngel Rambles, and that video is the latest video. Go check it out.

i’m seventeen and i really, really want to study animation; i’ve been interested in this for a long, long time and to find out that artists keep getting replaced with ai makes me feel so frustrated. i hope they soon realize that lifeless ai movies will never replace the love and dedication actual artists can put into a movie.
I don’t know if this will help but it’s basically impossible to get a job in basically any industry. Even my plan B isn’t working out, graduates like me can’t get a job anywhere regardless of how “stable” the industry is. So you may as well study whatever you want because the economy is gonna collapse soon and they’re gonna need human beings
@kolyuri I have been working as a 3d character animator for 17 years now. I'm not worried yet. I work mainly for smaller studios and I haven't heard any of them talking about replacing anybody with AI. I think that when all the big studios have burned their names, integrity and fans to the ground with soulless generic films, the smaller indie studios will rise from the ashes with unique stories and refreshing art. One of the reasons I enjoy working for smaller studios anyways, is that they can make more daring and interesting films, that don't have to please the masses and the share holders.
So go ahead with you dream! I did, I haven't regretted a single moment
Crazy how a movie about a girl pushing herself too much and putting so much pressure on herself that she has a panic attack… probably caused the people working on it to have panic attacks.
I dreamed for years of working at Pixar when I was a child; I gave up when I realized that being female + not being born rich in California kinda made it impossible, and I guess I'm glad I never tried harder, cause it sounds like experiencing late capitalism from inside movie studios meant to make fun and magic projects is extra soul-crushing
This is why the support of TAG for their protests is SO IMPORTANT RN they r fighting against the studios for this exact behavior!! this is such a scary time for animators of all factions SUPPORT TAG if the writers were able to get better deals supporting TAG is the best chance we have at a right push in a good direction fir change for animation everywhere

In order to make a meaningful story, it relays a story of relatability from HUMAN experience. AI art is literally an imitation and is so, so painfully soulless.
Also when you see a GOOD animated movie you can see nice details in the background that aren't just a confusing blob or something that just... Vomited.
Something that makes you go, "wow! That's so clever and fun". Especially a brand like Disney, it's slowly downfalling over the years and is just depending on shit reboots and live actions sequels that strips the original of all it's joy. The thing is, for most non-artists their biggest nuisance with AI is that it doesn't look or sound appealing "Oh the fingers" "Sounds like it was written by AI" but once AI has stolen enough info from actual creatibe artists and polishes its style, people will flock to it immediately. Its so depressing and downright dystopian

Animation has always had it rough in Hollywood, as it is typically seen as an inferior medium compare to the star studded live action films, even when a celebrity does voice work, it doesn't help, because there are talented voice actors, who know what they are doing, compared to the vast majority of celebrities who love being in front of the camera. The fact that many in Hollywood are looking in favour of AI generated animation, is a disgrace to those who work hard in animation, AI is a tool that could aid in the illustration process, not replace the illustrator, how would those hammy celebrities feel when AI takes over their camera time? AI can use it without consent, having you working for free for them, while they are competing against you absorbing your own market, so being good is not a way to fight back, just makes AI stronger, it's like a parasite, or a quimera ant xD
So then we be shit. if enough people start spamming the shittiest, slop art they can muster, we can make AI suck!
Use nightshade/glaze or even both in your art, yes it will create artifacts depending on how agressive you want the protection to be but you can poison the AI and stop it from stealing your artstyle
@@CoffeeRobin-cs1nf yeah but there's no tool for animation or music for now...
it’s parasite btw
Ai is bad
9/11 is bad
cry about it. You cannot stop the arrival the the ASI.
@@HermitKing731These bots are getting worse. "cry about it" who says that in 2024? lol
@@RSGCProductions Cry about it is basic English. Sorry I dont speak like people of the current year. The real loser is the one who says "Who says *blank* in X year?".
Thank you Princess Shokora from Wario Land 4
Ever hear about the company that created the show RWBY, Rooster Teeth, and what they did to their animators? That seems to have served as a warning, at least to the sensible ones in the fandom, to stay away and not support these kinds of people. So it's not a surprise that big businesses are doing the same thing. We might have to start boycotting soon if this is the way things will be going. Easily done for me, I only watch UA-cam content and from creators that are (hopefully) genuine.
Do not worry, from what i heard the animation guild is going in negotiations,
Yet the key differences are still remaining.
Back to the rendered "60fps" modified animations in videos some couple years ago, it's sad to tell that there is too many people that don't care about the artist. And now, it's the AI stuff getting out of control thanks to greedy people aswell. Artist really need more companies that care about them, either that or support indie projects and companies as Glitch that have proven to care about the artist first.
Its all just dissapointin in the industry as i see it rn.
I want to say vote with your wallets, but losing more money will likely cause these studios to take even more cost-cutting measures in the future...
It sucks because the people defending it are also usually the people that refuse to pay artists their worth because "I can draw that for free myself!"
Most artists aren't doing it solely for the pay. They're doing it because they love their field first and love the idea of actually being paid for their work for once.
I think is so depressing for anyone who works in creativity. We are screwed :(
