A birthday is the anniversary of the birth of a person, or figuratively of an institution. The birthdays of people are celebrated in numerous cultures, often with birthday gifts, birthday cards, a birthday party, or a rite of passage. Indians celebrate their birthdays by giving thanks to God for life, eating food, and dancing to music. On that day, the birthday person wears new clothes to symbolize a new beginning and donates food and clothes to the needy if they can afford them. Children get to wear brand-new clothes to school instead of their uniforms and carry sweets and chocolates to school for their classmates.
