I couldn't help but feel intrigued about meeting this other group and uncovering their story.

I want to thank all the narrators who have read the story from its beginning, and especially Viidith22 for sticking out with the series for as long as it has existed. And I want to thank all of the listeners who have enjoyed the series, but as far as where it was going, I want to get back down to the roots, so that the story really does feel like a threshold of evil.
I just want to say to everyone that I’m proud of what I’ve created, and that’s why I decided that it needs to be redone. The reason for the reboot is because I finished the second arc of this version of the series, which is 100,000 words long, but it just didn’t feel like a threshold of evil anymore. It felt more like it had become some science-fiction story and more about action scenes and war zones than anything involving horror; even now I can tell in this story that that was the direction it was going towards. Although I did make some good progress with the character development of both Henry and Samantha’s relationship, Henry and Tabitha’s relationship, and even some insight on Kushim’s past and why he hates humans so much, and ironically, it’s because originally he was supposed to have a human companion before meeting Henry. But that entire novel is going to have to be on hold for an undetermined amount of time while I work on the new Canon. Maybe someday I will publish that entire novel on my Kindle, but for now it’s going to have to gather dust. I’m sorry, because it really was going to be something more expensive about the world that I create.

Author here: in the discontinued second arc I wrote, Jack was part of a gang that attacks Samantha in Warmire. He didn't know that until they caught her and wanted him to... assault her in a s3xual way and he's about to but she's violent enough to escape him.
No you didn't miss anything. Besides the OG episode where we meet Sam we don't really hear about her time in the other dimension before this and seems the betrayal happened during that time
