  • In this guided application exercise we'll wire up and test a three wire magnetic motor starter we introduced in a previous lecture. Additionally, we'll examine this circuit's no/low voltage protection behavior when subjected to a loss and restoration of power and during overload conditions.
If you wish to replicate this experiment, here is the part list from automation direct:

it would have been great if you showed how the reversing kit is working in a bit more details like how it is wired showing the numbers of the contacts. the picture is not clear how it is set up. thanks for the video

Can you explain why you are using both a manual starter (with a built in over load) and an additional overload? Wouldn't the Manual starter be enough?

Good question. You're correct, either one would serve to protect this system. You'll often see this type of arrangement for 2 reasons: 1) redundant backup in case one element fails 2) the manual motor starter could be servicing not one but several contactors, when a technician opens the manual motor starter everything downstream is de-energized. Elements not serviced by that manual motor starter remain unaffected. This serves as a means of functionally isolating certain elements of a larger system.

Can you make a video with 110 volt for 110 motor

Stay in touch. I plan to do a series on single phase AC motors (once I finish 3 phase AC motors). Often times 3 phase AC equipment is used to make and break connection to single phase AC motors such that all 3 contacts are wired in series with one another (ie: into L1, out of T1 into L2, out of T2 into L3, out of T3 to motor) such that three series switches simultaneously open and close.
