I always thought that ä in luxembourgish sounds like German ä. Seems not to be the case
Yes when it is followed by a consonant or by the vowel "e" like in Päerd / Häerz. But when "ä" is combined with the vowel "i" we talk about the diphtongue "äi" which has another sound like in mäin / Wäin ...
