Talofa lava, This song was written by my great great great grandpa late Sopoaga Anetera ( Andrew ) Lauvi '. He was a faifeau in Vaovai Samoa. This song was written by my late great great great grandpa for a boy from the village who fell from a palm tree. They shipped him to the hospital but he did not make it. My great pops wrote this song on their wall back to Vaovai, he was sadden by the loss of this boy. Missionaries from Fiji traveled to Samoa and heard this song that was already well known by that time in Samoa. They took the tune back to Fiji and there it birthed their farewell song ' Isa Lei '. But the origin of this song and it's tune is from Samoa written by the late Sopoaga Anetera Lauvi. My nana Italia Samuelu Pula from Salepouae Saleimoa Samoa, knows the original lyrics and the boys name is in the lyrics. His name was 'Taisali'. This song and it's tune is from Samoa. Lovely singing.

"Isa Lei" is the Fijian version of a Tongan love song ("Ise Isa viola lose hina") used to court the then Princess Salote (later Sālote Tupou III). It was written in 1915 and was heard by a visiting Fijian sergeant. From there, the Fijians adopted it to a farewell song, but they kept the Tongan melody. Mo'omo'oga sa molia i talosaga came out around the same time? Said the music was composed by Karauna Solomona. Very interesting!
