It’s not meant to straighten hair, it’s meant to optimize your flat iron routine, the Brazilian women use it too, it gives a silk press result that last super long and the roots are processed way better too

    “Recipe”!!
    4 tablespoons rice
    2 cups water
    1 tbp cornstarch
    1/2 cup water
    1 tbsp coconut oil
    1 tbsp olive oil
Add 4 tablespoons of washed rice to a pot with 2 cups of water. Cook rice.
Add cooked rice to blender and blend till smooth. Strain mixture through sieve into a bowl.
In a separate bowl, create cornstarch slurry by adding 1 tablespoon of cornstarch to half a cup of water.
Add rice mixture back into a clean pot and combine with cornstarch slurry. Cook over low heat for 1 minute.
Add thickened rice mixture into a bowl and stir in 1 tbsp coconut oil and 1 tbsp olive oil.
To use: apply mixture onto dry hair in sections and comb through/detangle. Place shower cap over head and leave in hair for one hour. Rinse thoroughly.
    Enjoy!!!

This treatment doesn't instantly make your hair straight. It's like a hair mask. You put it in, let it sit, rinse it out, wash your hair, blow dry your hair, and then flat iron it. Your hair will be straighter and the look will last longer. It also helps with hair growth.

@@Schrodingers_Kat Actually they do. Yes hair will grow, but if it isn't healthy it will only grow so much and then the ends will split and the hair will break off and fall out. Hair can become brittle, dull, and dry if you don't take care of it. It matters what you put on your hair like what you put in your body. If you use products with the wrong stuff in it your hair will be in bad condition and as you get older it will only get worse. I've struggled to get my hair to grow healthy after stupidly cuting it as a kid. I used all the wrong products and couldn't get my hair to grow too far past my shoulders before it would split and fall out. It was well past my shoulders before I cut it. Once I hit my 40's my hair started becoming dry and brittle. I started taking hair skin and nails vitamins and it got better. I changed the shampoo I was using and started using a conditioner with pumpkin and carrot oil in it and oiling my scalp with pumpkin seed oil. My hair is much healthier and back to looking as it did when I was younger. It got thicker first and then longer. Of course black hair is much different than other hair types and what works for others won't always work for us. Our hair needs different things. But going as all natural as possible will help a lot.

From my experience, rice water has been a natural detangler and strengthens the individual strands of hair so there is less breakage. It did also soften my hair. My daughter has 4c hair that has naturally forming coils, but using the rice water on her hair did relax her curl pattern which wasn't what I wanted actually. One con is that rice water can also dry out your hair so you need to immediately moisturize afterwards. Type 4 hair can't do rice water very often. I would say no more than once a month

The steps for the rice before adding in the oils is good for something else as well. Skin lightening. Specifically blemishes. I used to have tons of bite marks and scabs/marks from bugs and it has really helped to lighten them. Just make sure to let it cool and use daily. And don’t add the corn flour. Keep it in the fridge and once it starts to get a bad odor, it’s no longer good for use. Random comment but I hope it helps anyone who may be self conscious about scab marks on their body or acne marks on their face. ❤️
Edit: leave it on for minimum 10 minutes and wash it off but you 100% CAN leave it on longer.

Rice and rice water is very popular in many Asian countries.
I think this is more of a hair mask rather than a straightener.
It helps moisturize your hair giving the appearance of a ‘straighter’ hair look.
So this mask is perfect on all kinds hair textures.

Ive always wanted to try this, but ive been using the flax seed gel instead... the rice water has a few more steps than the flax seeds one, and it seems you get the same results.. gently boil 1/4 cup of flax seeds to 2 cups of water, you can do more obviously, but thats the general rule, after 30 minutes of slow boil, you get a gooey paste like the rice water, let it cool, apply for an hour, or overnight, rince it out and you get awesome defined hair with no frizz, and its super shiny after a few treatments, loved your vid tho, helped me a lot , thank you!!

I’m in no way devaluing any persons experience with their own hair. I’m simply saying that it is exquisitely stunning looking. I find very curly hair to be the most beautiful. One of my sons has my hair and my other son has their fathers hair. Both are gorgeous. I do love the texture of my little ones hair though. I do have to put a lot more time and effort into keeping it both nice looking and healthy. I thought I had fried my hair since I dont straighten it except every once every few yrs😂 Thankfully I didn't cut it off, because it took a few months for my texture to come back! THIS MAKES SO MUCH SENSE!! I mix unflavored gelatin powder with a teeny tiny bit of hot water, then add that to warmed mane & tail deep conditioner with my fav oils and do a deep condition. I flat ironed my hair earlier this yr after using that and my hair was super straight for a long time. It's back to it's natural 4z craziness now😂 I did use a heat protector when I straightened mine though. I think using heat, either by blowdrying or straightening, would have given a better result.

@@laken1804 penetrate is actually more appropriate as absorption doesnt take place here. the hair in this process doesnt act like a "sponge". its more like a coating is being placed on the hair shaft to smoothen it. where protein is missing, it acts like replacing a broken link on a chain so it may penetrate certain layers to strengthen that damaged portion. it isnt like conditioners where certain components get "absorbed" by the hair, because this type of protein is not water soluble, so it doesnt and cannot behave that way. it would be like expecting gravel to get absorbed by concrete. it wont happen but you can certainly place gravel in potholes to make it smoother.

Then “style your hair with your hands and fingers to define your curls and coils more and just let your hair air dry, like that- without combing or brushing it. This way you “train” your hair to curl by it self and you’ll see your natural curls come through more boldly. Shake your head and hair around to see what that effect yields sometimes as well-if you want a fun and funky look hahaha. This is kind of my method for styling my hair after I’ve applied conditioner and oil. I don’t comb or brush it. Only on wash day and then I rinse out the shampoo and add conditioner (that I leave in sometimes) shake my head and use my hands to shape my hair the way I like it. Plus use a little product as well on the hair and style the edges. Then hair is all ready for the day! 😁

Suggestion: Try pressing your hair first with an ELECTRIC PRESSING COMB OR AN ELECTRIC FLAT IRON WHICH IS ELECTRIC HEAT( "DO NOT" use one of those old school straightening combs with fire heat) again use an electric one. Wait 24 hours and apply your Japanese Straightening Cream to your BEAUTIFUL COILY (Not Nappy, Nor Kinky) pre-straitened hair like you did in this video and I believe you will see amazing results. By pressing the hair first (which flattens/breakdown "OUR" hair cuticles) it causes it to appear smoother easier and faster. Hope this helps especially because of the latest news concerning chemical straitened hair and the harsh side effects of late. I like the Japanese version of the cream you used because it is all natural - "OUR" hair just needs a little boost to get it bone straight because of OUR BEAUTIFUL CURL PATTERN. All that said "OUR" hair is the MOST VERSATILE HAIR ON THE PLANET - We can take it from COILY to STRAIGHT, STRAIGHT TO COILY, CREATE A WAVE PATTERN (without chemicals I might add), DYE IT ANY COLOR WE WANT USING NATURAL DYE and the list goes on. Anyway I digress, Lol so I'll stop here. Hope "ALL" this helps. Thanking you in advance for your response.

Nappy is definitely inaccurate-- no one's hair actually grows out of their head Nappy. And Anyone's hair -- straightened, wavy, or curly-- can became nappy/knotted if they didn't detangle it for a length of time.

@@SWAKCouture I prefer the word “coily” I think it’s better that we use that word to describe type 4 hair because the word “kinky” makes it seem like our hair is defined as having “kinks” as in flaws and something being wrong/abnormal with it like the phrase “working out all the kinks” but our hair is so beautiful nothing’s wrong with it.
Kinky also means “freaky” and has a s€xual definition so that’s another reason I don’t like the word being used to describe type 4 hair.

It's a huge protein treatment so if you use it with other hair products that add protein or your hair just doesn't need a lot of protein you can end up with protein overload. That means your hair becomes dry and brittle and may start to break off

Wait, is this a new thing people are doing because rice water became popular? I ask because the 'Japanese straightening treatment' I remember is the one where they use a chemical to break down the bonds in your hair strands in order to re-bond it and basically make your hair believe it's naturally straight when it gets styled with the heat though it needs to be straightened instantly after rinsing the treatment out. It even lasts through getting your hair wet once the hair sets and if I recall the only way to get your natural hair back is to basically grow it out again. This just seems like a healing cleansing mask if anything--

It's not intended to straighten hair. I think that straightening as a term was used in this case because this treatment was used mostly by Asian populations that would get the appearance of straighter hair because this does reduce frizz. In other videos I've seen a called a natural keratin treatment which I think is a lot more accurate. Even chemical Keratin treatments won't straighten your hair unless the most texture you have is loose waves. They will however strengthen your hair and give you a smooth result

It seems like a really great hair mask, it deep conditions your hair. I wonder if you gave it more time, how would do. I'm not surprised though it didn't straighten your hair. I think straightening is the wrong term for what it does, it gives you that silky, smooth hair. Unless you naturally have some hair that can straighten I don't think on its own it would do that. I think you would have to use a straightener iron with it. The personally I like that it brought out your curls more.

It's like rice pudding and cornmeal pudding. Just add sweetened condensed milk 🥛 to the cooked flour cornmeal & rice blend oh & maybe nutmeg or cinnamon. Lol, I'm not kidding. Eat with puff puff. Only diff is you're adding olive oil & using on hair. Smh, I've been watching too many cooking videos. I have a question, though? Did you just rince out & it came out like that, or did u have to wash it out, then apply a conditioner, etc? Thanks for the video 🙏🏽📹 .

I watched a video that had the same ingredients, except the rice. They used flax seed gel. Same process as the rice but, you use a cheesecloth to get the gel from the flax seed.
