Imagine being a 14 year old in 1997 and your older brother coming home with Life is Peachy and hearing Twist for the first time. Mind Blown. Then buying a 7 string, growing dreadlocks and learning how to play the whole album. That was me. I was listening to Green Day and Nirvana before this came out. I was a baby when Korn was popular back in the day. Their Follow the Leader album came out in 1998, one year after I was born [I was born in 1997], and since I discovered that album in 2011 in the first place, I felt immediately connected to that album and the band. And then upon listening to their 1994 self-titled debut in 2012, my love for the band became even deeper. The music, the attitude, the sound and Jonathan Davis's lyrical rants based on his childhood changed my life completely. If it wasn't for Korn, I wouldn't be a musician.

Love love LOVE how they played the verse riff right after the bridge, just before the last chorus. In the studio version of Divine (the version that's on the first cd), they do not do this little 15 second snippet. But gosh I wish they did. Clean voice , drives n grolws r on their top. Davis is more controled n that ridiculous headbanging era is gone. That was a huge wrong way 2 sing n use diafragm or head voice.

Felippe Rodrigues that “ridiculous head banging era” paved the way for 1000’s of metal bands throughout the 90’s and 00’s - Korn in these days were on top of the world. Their sound back then was raw, brutal, emotion packed and relatable which why so many fans regard the first 2 albums as their finest work. I first saw them in February 1997 in France, we were witnessing something nothing short of extraterrestrial. I am now 39 with kids and still head banging.

Man this is so much better than 90% of todays mainstream metal which is all ripped off breakdown after ripped off breakdown with the most generic vocal lines that dont sound authentic at all. Fortunately theres still a few great bands today so its not all bad.
