Khvostov can also directly counter enemies being shielded by a taken goblin since you can shoot the shielded enemies and the ricochets will often take out the goblin (I have a deep hatred for taken goblins).

Destiny has changed for the better
In other:
1) Prismatic, the new subclass that dropped with Final Shape. Takes various bits from the other subclasses and merges them into one.
2) You get it from doing a somewhat tedious quest in the new destination in the Final Shape, The Pale Heart.
3) Right before TFS launched, there was something called Onslaught. It was a horde mode whose rewards were a bunch of reprised weapons. One of these weapons was Edge Transit which quickly became a unironically god tier weapon

you get 7 bounce shots, the first bullet always bounces, which leaves you with 42 shots- which is 6*7, so 6 bounces plus the first shot bounce
Also to note, kinda like a secret perk to it, is you get a shit ton of transcendance energy from the ricochet’s. That plus the artifact mod that works like phoenix protocol gives you it really fast.
Well, it's 1 bullet getting 7 kills, I bet that's how the code is working.
and u could pair it with something like matadoxia to get infinite suspends on champions

prismatic generation is based on damage so im not surprised
The ricochet perk reminds me of some of my favorite guns in Borderlands. “If it took more than one shot, you weren't using a Jakobs”
A catalyst with attrition orbs would be insane
or the ability for the riccochet round to riccochet to orbs of lights and ammo packs

I think the biggest advantage of this gun is that it absolutely JUICES your transcendence bar--especially with the appropriate fragment for kinetic weapons. You don't have to put any thought into balancing light and dark damage with that fragment equipped and a kinetic surge or two in your boots. Fun to keep both this and Outbreak Perfected on you character if you're running kinetic exotic primaries or said fragment on prismatic--can switch to Khvostov for add-clearing moments and then switch to the OP if you need to drill a boss in their weak spot.

Definitely my favorite exotic from this expansion so far. Just sucks that the ornament for it won’t be in the bright dust store until August/September

Its so good! I used it almost the entire legend campaign on my hunter. If I wasn't abusing strand weapons for tangle detonations on warlock and titan atm id be running it

khvostov is a perfect weapon, it slays in pvp, pve, both in general play and endgame, it doesn't matter if this thing is on trials or in a gm, this thing not only will do de job, but it will be close to the best while doing it, literally insane

i just got it and when i started grinding for this quest, the longest part which IMO would be doing overthrow bosses was already done. so when i started doing the quest all i had to do was find some stuff like encryption bits, chests, and travelers. this quest was easy af but a slight grind. nothing compared to some of the previous exotics i’ve had to get before like mountaintop and 50 calcified fragments in d2
Hazardous Propulsion is another great pairing. You only need precision hits and you can run a rocket sidearm and rocket launcher
If we had autos on the artifact this season this would be on the same level as QuickSilver was last expansion
i wish you would do a collection of builds somewhere, like a spreadsheet with dim links and youtube links because your builds are always fire
I think tommys match book is slept on, with a titan with solar exotic legs it does a lot and ignites targets super quickly

It better be a beast, the quest to get this weapon takes EONS. Just got it last night and it took many hours to complete the quest, didn't get to test it out but I'll be taking it into GMs for sure.
It took me like… 4 hours to get it. Not sure why everyone says it was so long
@@bradleyshelby1944I think a lot of people are having issues with the motes of light part because it’s buggy. First there was the meatball and the tormenter eating your motes, now the problem is certain bosses take multiple kills to drop their mote, in my case I had to actually put all 16 of my motes in the vault, go and kill the meatball again and that’s when he dropped the exotic mote.
took me under an hour 30 people are just saying its long because of that bug with meatball
It being a Kinetic, if you want explosions you could just throw on Chromatic Fire for fun, reminder that the way the exotic works now, it also applies status effects, so if you run it on a prismatic Void super, it will be also weakening everything around it, I'm definitely going to try it out.
I was able to get Khvostov when it first came out and it was shredding in Contest mode. It really is just crazy
Genuinely can’t think of any other primary that gave me this much satisfaction to use (except devil’s ruin maybe but still)
This is my go to for pretty much 90% of what I do in destiny. For PvE, I get the most use out of using this with Star-Eater Scales due to the orb synergy. For PvP I have the exotic class armor with Spirit of the Dragon and Spirit of the Wormhusk. I just can’t take this weapon off and it’s been a long wait but very much worth it.
absolutely love this gun, my favorite thing to do is just dump all my ammo into a big target and watch the ricochet bullets go to town on the nearby ads, you can also bounce the bullet between two targets multiple times, its really fun. I only wish u could start a ricochet chain by shooting gunpowder gamble, nuke all the ads in the room and watch the ricochet bullet clean up.
Hey Ehroar, I'd like you to test out the titan dps combo with hazardous propulsion, two-tailed fox, and facet of command (auto-reloads 2tailed fox with every shot). The rotation probably goes: twilight arsenal, thrusters, recombination x10 mountaintop, mag dump 10 two-tailed fox rockets.
I don't expect amazing things given two tailed fox basically doesn't work with surge mods. If it did it might be cool

You need to look at Cerberus+1 with titan exotic that reloads autos. The new change makes it absolutely shred everything. Pair this with weapon boosts and it’s just insane. I’ve never experienced anything that kills so fast at the rate of fire it has. It one shots like everything
I FINALLY got khvostov last night and I'm loving it, way better than d1 version! Trying to make a prismatic build with it now
Also wirh facet of grace, it gives INSANE trancendance uptime
Really excited to get this, it takes forever to earn tho. Keep getting booted to orbit when I'm hunting a cyst down or progressing the public event.
Khvostov paired with the new Warlock chest piece exotic is an absolutely nasty set up for add clear and dealing with yellow bars and champs.
Idk if it’s because of the artifact this season but I have noticed that ricochet kills with the khvostov sometimes spawn elemental pickups according to the subclass you have running.
The artifact says kinetic weapons spawn elemental pickups
Ricochet damage is tied to weapon damage which is also tied to kinetic so..yea

Staying on brand with the theme of 7s, there's actually 7 ricochet rounds per mag. The first bullet of every mag is a ricochet, then 8, 15, 22, 29, 36 and finally 43 bullets fired
Final warning is my favorite primary! If you know you know.
You get the catalyst done yet? Heard it's a good ease of use improvement.

@@IZUNAMI14 I have it. Base damage goes up but the refunded rounds can make it so your last burst isn't a full set. Catalyst is kinda wonky but I'm not great with final warning so ymmv
Two or even three Kinetic Siphon mods is recommended to optimize the loop.
The grind is worth it

It's one of those exotics that looks unimpressive at first, but once you use it you understand why it's incredible.
The catalyst has attrition orbs and some sort of kinetic tremors. This thing will be insane.
Also the OG ornament will be sold for dust later this season.

This is what I was curious about, does it actually perform good there? And other 20-30 LL content? Been absolutely destroying with Final Warning but with the range it just doesn't seem sustainable lol
I’ll take Sunshot, Graviton, Red Death, Ager’s, and perhaps a couple others over it, but I’m sure it’s great. I don’t have it yet, but I’ve seen others play with it. I know Ager’s isn’t primary but I use it like one with all the special ammo that rains from the Heavens. I might change my mind later when I get it.
I freaking Love The Khvostov, I've got nearly 3k pve kills on this thing, and in pvp it's no slouch either. Really amazing feeling primary. Had to get that ornament for it though... base colors were too ugly for me. lol..
Imagine if the ricochet shots could hit orbs and ammo to keep bouncing
A cool thing you can do at a distance is to just reload, shoot the bounce shot, reload, repeat.
I love this weapon
Due to the competition for the top slot, I have a hard time using this weapon. With The Call or Witherhoard there, the stasis trace rifle (I forget the name, it's hard to justify it in PvE.
So far on my Warlock, I've been running, The Call, Zhaoli, and Two Tailed Fox with the turret build. That's just been fun and puts out some good damage.
Whatcha running on Appetence? I tried Demo+Headstone this week and was disappointed
@@pistolgrippoet Headstone just hasn't really been very good. It takes too long to break the stasis crystals, and basically an entire magazine just for the shatter. But, I don't use Appentence. I was thinking Ager's Scepter. (Had to look it up.) That exotic still rocks and rolls for clearing.
@TwoFox… Scepter is amazing. I don’t many people know (or care maybe) but if you eat your super into Scepter, it will take down any Champion, even on GM, with ease.

Note, the eyes up gaurdian buff doesn’t actually increase damage. Bungie told us that is incorrect
My issue is with kinetic siphon I can’t do enough scout mods and my resilience mod.. that’s why I like solar weapons because harmonic siphon just works with song of flame and sunshot.
PS I was told bleak watcher stuff doesn’t count towards grenade orb kills and it seems to ring true as I haven’t seen any. Maybe the arc turret does but then you can’t run the exotic class item.

This gun is so good but I only use it in PvP now since I got my inmost light/star eater warlock bond Nova bomb just doing so much damage is hard to take off
I’ve been unlucky enough of finding out it’s power in crucible and man was is it wreaking meanwhile my quest is still bugged
i’ve been saying that the gun is amazing if you micro manage orbs, goes from B tier with no orbs to S

bungie themselves explained that in fact the riccochet bullets with eyes of guardians don't do more damage, just in case.

I thought that they said in a twid that eyes up guardian was incorrectly saying it increases damage when it really does not. Am I mistaken?
You're correct. Other testing has shown that the ricochet rounds do not get increased damaged while Eyes Up Guardian is active, and Bungie explicitly stated that the description text for that perk is wrong. I think it's under the "known issues" section, iirc.

For anyone having issues getting this. Just do all the stuff, collect traveler motes then get you a piece of paper and go to landing and write off the bosses you do, then impasse then do blooming last. If you cant get the boss you need, when the boss spawns travel to another area then go back. Itll respawn. If you are stuck at 16, put the motes in the vault then go kill your last guy. Even though I got my 16 mote on Servitor (meatball) in Blooming, after I put my 16 in vault he gave me the exotic. It is def worth it
I had to do the meatball 5ish times for him to drop the mote even after I put them in the vault. I pulled them back out after it didn’t work after 2 attempts then after another 2 it dropped. The meatball drop is just finicky. Keep trying and it’ll drop.
You can also track the bosses you have killed by looking at your Triumphs for the pale heart, there is a tracker on there saying what bosses you have killed
Going in solo will always spawn the boss you need for a mote. And if it doesn't you can fast travel to the same location as the overthrow during the boss fight until you get the boss you want spawned. It will change every fast travel.
@@RoseberryHyde the tracker is bugged. It showed I had killed bosses I had never seen in overthrow, let alone killed. I’ve had a bunch of other people confirm the triumph was bugged for them as well

Got this weapon last night after 3 days grind 😅
I'm barely trying and I think I have 7k kills with it already. On Day 1 in the raid on Contest Mode, I cleared rooms by myself with Khovostov and a Prismatic Warlock.
What do you think k about outbreak? I feel like no one talks about it. Good ad clear and damage.

Shoutouts to this weapon just being simple plug-and-play goodness, as opposed to the slew of “must use with this element, does subclass verbs, did I mention this gun’s identity isn’t its own but is instead tied to a subclass” nonsense.
Like my first ever Exotic, Red Death, coming back as a… solar support weapon tailor-made for Warlocks? (Referring mainly to the catalyst and its use of verbs rather than non-elemental regen like the original or Crimson). Nah, give me unique effects tied to the weapon exclusively over subclass verbs any day. Just part of why Khvostov and Microcosm are goated.
When this came out my friends were meme-ing on it. To be fair old khvostov was not great but after a few days they were all using it. This thing is great.
The promotional videos didn’t do it justice. I thought it would be shit. But got it 2 days ago and haven’t taken it off since. It’s so good, and I don’t even like auto rifles I’m more a hand cannon and smg type of person.

The 1st shot of the mag always ricochet, so you actually get... 7 per mag
Takes care of those infuriating stasis and strand psion packs perfectly
God please give this gun kinetic tremors for the catalyst, it's my favorite perk to pair with shoot to loot.

Where does Outbreak fit for you? It seems to do well after the buff for add clear and single target damage, although its add clear is kill-dependent.

On paper/at a glance it's meh "shoot to loot? Hardly exotic. Ricochets? Ok."
BUT the more you use it you just realize how PERFECT IT IS.

EDIT: I dont mean this build in general ofc, kind of relies on Getaway's, i just mean the Khvostov in general, think a build could be made around the Chromatic.
But but... THORN! Monty for Punchy Builds! Outbreak. Actually thinking about it. Other than Thorn & Monty a lot of the Primary Slot Weapons I've been using are Special Ammo so once I finally finished the quest it might make its way up that list!
It would be nice if the bullet searches for Ammopacks and orbs with his ricochet
I think I've heard that they do. Someone spotted it doing so during the initial video showcase, but I can't confirm it. I'd have to test it.
